OK TIME OUT !!!!!!!
Yes the site was set up to be free, but shit things change.......... In the last two days I have read posts from the new owners and posts from the community.
The owners have been slightly guarded in what they have been saying, and yes SH will now be run as a profit centre for the group........ It has to be it's the way of business.
From the community there has been a mixture of shock, sadness, anger, and now finger pointing.
I never met Mark H & I have only been here for 3 months so how could we? But I do know that to build something like this takes time, energy (lots of it) and money. How can people sit there going on for the best part of 30 hours now bemoaning what Mark did for us?..........
Yes the forums and chatroom DO have a community, a vibrant one.......... but never forget they WOULDN'T EXIST without Marks vision.
So come on lets all put the typing fingers into neutral, the brain into gear, and ensure that this unique community survives and thrives. Lets all work together to persuade the new owners that the community will only survive if the most important aspects of it (Forums and Chat) remain free. At the moment I can't see too many of us doing that.

This is an unpopular thing to say, but it might help sort out some of the imbalances in who uses the photo ads part of the site. At the moment there are a LOT of single guys, compared to the number of couples/single females advertising for them.

Before people start throwing their toys out of their prams in this thread as well just PLEASE consider the following......................
1) The New Owners may have sound business reasons for not wanting the change of ownership anounced before it was......... thats the way it is sometimes.
2) Mark may effectively have been gagged by 1) above, and even if he wasn't do you honestly think that something he started from scratch will be easy to let go of???....... for all you know the guy could be reading all of this feeling pretty emotional at the moment.

There are enough people in the area to support a really good meet, but it would take time and would need to be arranged at a time to suit everybody......... keep at it and see what happens

Presumably Mark sold the site and thus receeived some reward for his efforts thus far. I am not sure remaining free is entirely a good thing, in our experience the pay sites tend to attract more serious people rather than those who just like to talk, but to each their own.
A more commercial basis to this site is in our opinion a good thing, let's leave it at that. You are clearly free to differ in your opinions, it doesn't make ours less valid. IT isn't that hard to set up a chat board for those who feel the change in unacceptable.
OK and each to there own but to say that people on the forums or chat rooms "Just like to talk" is perhaps a slight understatement. It's our experience that if you want to meet and have fun it's the people on the forums or in the chatrooms that are most likely to be accomodating. We have found more timewasters in the ads section than anywhere else, and this has been our experience on pay sites as well.

The site has changed ownership............ good for Mark he's done a fantastic job here and I personally wish him and his family well............. I just wish we had discovered this place two years ago and not 3 months ago. I have been around the net for too many years like a lot of you, but to find a community such as this is extremely rare. Maybe thats why I have posted more times on SH in 3 months than all the other forums I am a member of (some for many years) put together. We have had disagreements in here and we also have had our laughs. We also meet for real and have a lot of fun as well. All these things have been enabled because of this site but they have happened because of us. We must never forget that. Why don't we just calm down and wait to see what happens.
The new owners are free to do what they want and they will.......... You have seen Elliot try to be the nice guy, and Mr Montague also tried the nice guy approach, but then has also just used the Mr Nasty, (and yes he can probably be a lot worse.........can't you Martin)
I have just had a look at the things the new owners are into, as well as reading what Martin in particular has posted........... it sounds like a cross between many other paysites out there but with strong overtones of AFF (Adult FiendFinder to the unitiated - and yes deliberate spelling mistake)
One question Martin/Elliot.......... do you intend to make Swinging Heaven an International site like Dating online? Also Munches are site sanctioned to the extent that they are organised by volunteers from the membership but run to a strict formula that is supported by SH...........will your organisation be prepared to allow this to continue?
So come on lets give it a chance........ SH is probably the best UK Swinging Site there is. In a years time it could be even better or it may have sunk without a trace who knows
Either way it is important that we keep the community alive be it here or somewheres else...... think about it
