The pictures display and animate in windows media player but not on the forums when I transfer them from imageshack!
thanks for helping

It sounds like the version in imageshack is not a GIF file. Right-click on the file within imageshack to check the properties - does it end ".gif" or something else like ".jpg"?
Only .GIF files will animate on here as you can't upload movie files as avatars.

Uhm, well yes and no....without wishing to sound like I'm criticising, it just points them back to the rules which they presumably didn't read and may not have been aware of originally.
The option I suggested would explain a little more and perhaps give the post originator more of a warm feeling rather than being told off. Of course I'm not sure whether you have also PMd them with more information as well.
Hope this is coming across as constructive as I'm keen to propose suggestions that may be useful. biggrin
Physically, I like a man who's more on the rugged side rather than the effeminate end of the scale. I find big hands and hairy arms a turn-on.
Not really bothered at all what age he is (providing he's somewhere between having achieved mental maturity - 20s - and old age). But I do like someone who is sure of themselves without being too cocky and knows what he wants. Can't be dealing with indecisive people who carry loads of emotional baggage etc.
I think I've found over the years that my tastes have changed to focus a lot more on how someone behaves rather than what they look like - the cover can be gorgeous but if there's nothing between the ears it's probably a non-starter for me. The most sexual organ we all posess is the brain after all. When I see someone across a room they either have it or they don't.

Hands up here - I've got that album!
And a mighty fine album it is too.....favourite track is Muffle That Fart, dedicated to all the ladies where Millie tells it like it is when a woman has met a man for the first time and has a need to visit the ladies room in the morning quietly.....
Still looking to see if I've got a copy of the Handless Organist in the collection pmsl
Another thought about this issue:
When someone posts incorrectly into the forum, do they get notification (perhaps via PM) with an explanation of why their post wasn't acceptable? If this isn't the case, I suggest that they are PMd with some standard text which includes a link to this post and to the one where they should have originally put their advert.
This should help to encourage appropriate posting whilst not alienating newbies (although I appreciate not all posters fall into this category).
Something along the lines of......
Your recent post in Let's Meet Up section asking for webcam meets has been deleted as it doesn't conform with current Swinging Heaven terms of usage. Only one area is designated for such posts. This is entitled Sticky: All webcam ads in here ONLY and can be found at the top of the Let's Meet Up section or by clicking this link:
http://www.swingingheaven.co.uk/swingers-forum/viewtopic/54374.html
You will need to re-submit your post in this area if you wish to advertise again.
More information on why webcam posts are not allowed elsewhere and what is being considered in future can be found here:
http://www.swingingheaven.co.uk/swingers-forum/viewtopic/25806.html

I'm groping around in the dark assuming here that arrangements aren't already in place for handling these sorts of issue, so if they are apologies up front. If they aren't, perhaps a number of standard text items for similar issues could be created and stored on the forums for Mods to copy & paste (making their lives easier)?
If you are going to try it, avoid Asparagus for a few days.....makes it really sour, ugh

As other people have already said, you get what you pay for with webcams. Shelling out £10 is a good way to start I guess, but be prepared to pay more for a better quality one if you like it. You'll get improved picture quality, better software (for adjusting the picture) and the ability to send smoother (faster) video at a higher resolution.
I'm absolutely with Judy that a zoom option is a good one to have (are you getting my best side Mister DeMille?). I prefer cams that don't have microphones built in as I like separate complete control over sound and vision.
Incidentally, Logitech have recently released one that has software called Video Effects....it puts an animated cartoon face on instead of your own if you so desire, so you can appear as a Shark (very appropriate in some situations!), donkey (lol) or other creatures. You can also superimpose cartoon additions to your face (like a hat, sunglasses or an anonymous black strip over the eyes/nose). All this is done by the face-tracking software that moves the camera to follow you around.....haven't yet worked out whether you can train the cam to follow other parts of your body instead!
It's not cheap (around £99 retail but you can find it cheaper online). If you are interested in this, be careful where you order from - I found out that places like PC World are stocking older versions that look exactly the same but don't come with the cartoon software and aren't compatible with it.

[We are not disagreeing that there is a place for cams. We also agree that cams are a good way to meet people initially. All we ask this that people place their cam ads in the sticky at the top of this forum so they do not litter up the site. Surely that is simple enough to understand????? confused

I think one of the main issues here is that it is not prominent enough for newbies and infrequent users.
When I first joined, it took me sometime to work out what's acceptable and what is not (and I've used a number of forum sites in the past). It's less about how it functions and more about site-specific etiquette, which can sometimes get buried amongst the other stuff.
If you put yourself into the position of someone who has never visited the site before, what information would specifically stand out to you as being crucial to read? Have a look through. I tried in respect of camming:
The first place I checked was the home page. Nothing mentioned there.
Links to the ads section just takes you straight into ad categories with no "read this first" or "click here if you're new" option.
If you click the link from the homepage to go to the Forum, the first thing you see is Let's Meet which mentions that it's the place to post webcam ads.
The last option on the home page is for the Help section. The main mention of webcams there is as follows:
4. Do not just post a one-liner. For example:-
Subject: Anyone up for it today?
Post text: Well???
Posts like that are almost certainly a waste of time, just clutter up the forum and may well be deleted on sight. Here's what it could have been:-
Subject: Anyone up for it today near Manchester?
Post text: Hi, my name's Joe and you can read/see more about me if you click the link below to my photo ad. I'm free this afternoon with my webcam, or I'm up for a meet if anyone's near enough? I'm looking for a couple or a single woman for some relaxed no-strings fun. PM me if you're interested.

I think if I was a new user and I had read through all the links (which I think is pretty unlikely for most people), I'd assume I'd be ok posting a webcam ad.
I know the mods are considering what to do long-term and I see there are various opinions on potential options. Have the mods considered putting it up for a poll to see what the interest is? I would think only regular posters are likely to take part in the poll so it would be a good way of finding out what SH users want.
I do think the above highlights a contributing cause to continued stray webcam postings. It may also apply to other areas of the site. It's always difficult trying to put sufficient information on a website to encourage the maximum number of casual users to read it. Perhaps consideration could be given to making important usage information more prominent? Plenty of sites (and software installations) have a screen where you have an agreement page which you have to scroll through before you can click on the Accept button. Might that help here?

as bisto kids says if someone uses a emotocon u like just right click on it and add and then u can save it, personally i can't stand people who use all these silly moving pics on messenger sometimes it makes it really hard to read when pics keep popping up in the middle of bloody words mad

I don't mind if it's just emoticons but I also struggle when they're in the middle of a word.
Did you know you can turn them off in MSN Messenger? Go into Tools, Options, select the Messagesoption and remove the ticks from "show emoticons" and "show custom emoticons".
If you do a search on Google (or other search engine) for "animated messenger emoticons" you'll find loads of sites offering them.
Be aware that a lot of these install other programmes, so if you want to avoid that make sure you have an anti-spyware programme installed too - you can use it to block the other stuff being installed.
As far as animating pictures is concerned, the easiest way is converting a video file into a .GIF one. There are a few programmes that can do that. The other way is creating an animation manually from a standard picture by changing it about in a graphics programme to get the individual frames of the animation, then dropping them into a programme such as Microsoft GIF Animator (this is a freebie - just do a search for it). It works a little like the flick-pictures kids used to draw in the corner of their exercise books at school.
That's how I did my piggy avatar - took the original picture and copied/moved about the snout.

I'd never recommend doing this - a lot of these emails are spam trying to confirm whether they have identified a real email address. If you reply, they know that your mail address is live and you end up getting more spam. For this reason it's also not a good idea clicking on any "unsubscribe me" links on emails from anyone you don't know or suspect may not be genuine.
If you have messages from organisations like about your account, you can normally check whether it's genuine by going to their website and looking through the technical support section or signing into any services (such as Messenger) and contacting their help people that way.
Something else to bear in mind with email:
If you have an option to preview messages (e.g. you'll see the list of folders like Inbox down the left, a list of mail messages at the top and the content of the currently selected email at the bottom), it's the same as having opened the mail message. If you have enabled HTML (so you see font formatting, animations, pictures etc), you run the risk of scripting code automatically being run on your PC.
What to do:
Ensure you've got a good anti-virus, spam/adware detector and firewall installed AND updated regularly.
Disable the option in your email software to automatically preview mail messages in your Inbox, disable the display of HTML (or possibly both if you want).
Always delete things from people you don't know or that you think are spoofs without reading them.
I'd also recommend MS Anti-Spyware.....yes I know it comes from Microshaft but it is free and stops just about everything that comes through. I've compared it with a number of other products (freebies and commercial paid-for) and the level of response and effectiveness seems the same.
Ah but did you know statistically speaking that Paris gets more rain annually than Manchester? Not that I can say the word "statistic" of course....
I think I might have the answer to this one (read it in the Sunday Sport so it has to be true)....
When God makes men (s)he has a pre-defined pattern block for the skin. It only comes in one-size-fits-all so if they're big in stature there's only enough skin left for a tiny weenie. If they're slim, the extra has to go somewhere. It's all in the finishing.
Judy and Blue - seeing how Room 1 knows as much as it does, have you thought about approaching the owners to see whether it could be renumbered as Room 101? Mind you, it would mean you'd need to find a corner to put Paul Merton in and you'd probably need to permanently gag him. lol
Ally, love the avatar!
Yes fair comment....and I know my name is a little hard to work out to begin with. I guess I just find it a little confusing when people chatting to me for the first time already know that I'm a male looking for another male in the Manchester area because I've invariably advertised the fact in the room - the very thing that made them talk to me in the first place
If someone starts with a "hi" or similar rather than in with "asl" as the opening gambit I find they're a bit more sociable to talk to. Usually those who start with just an "asl" can't string more than a couple of words together.....tho of course it could just be me attracting certain types!
biggrin

I frequently get the asl thing - bizarrely it tends to happen after I've asked if there are any other men in the manchester area in the room.
Something along the lines of:
them: "asl?"
me: "uhm still in manchester as per the room line, that's the Mcr bit in my name"
them: "ok.....so a/s?"
me: "somewhere between working age and death, and male - that's the M4M bit"
them: "so what you looking for?"
me: "someone with a brain would be good"
Hiya, just thought I'd say thank you for a marvellous time - it was great to meet you all and I had an excellent evening!
Hope you have a fab birthday Gem......

Some information about getting rid of stuff permanently if you're interested....as has been said before in this thread, deleting or reformatting the disk doesn't actually erase stuff. Even doing an fdisk (if you know what that is) won't do the trick.
The only surefire way is to use commercial or open source tools specifically for this purpose. If you don't want to spend money, I'd recommend downloading a trial version of software, keeping your eyes peeled for freebie software that comes with computer magazines, or using an open source (i.e. free) programme.
One such tool I've used is called Eraser - not sure whether it's ok to post the URL directly here and I'm not suggesting this is the only or best tool to do the job, simply one of them that works. Try searching for "free data deletion software" in your favourite search tool to find one. There are also similar tools for anonymous browsing if you have any concerns about someone else snooping around to see what websites you've been looking at.
when the world was young and the moon was still made of cream cheese, I decided in my late teens that I wanted a pair of leather trousers. Took a trip to London and found a nice pair in an Oxford Street discount store.
The changing room was a little make-shift......a piece of net curtain wire between a couple of girders. I duly went in and pulled the curtain over. Felt rather naughty coz I'd gone commando that day.
As I was pulling up the first leg of the trousers I tripped and fell sideways.....only to find that I was laying in the shop window half naked with a load of tourists gawping at me!
Needless to say I made a quick exit, though I did buy the trousers....
Been laughing as I read through these....takes me back to when I used to work on an IT helpdesk. Here's a few we had:
A user complaining her mouse didn't work. When we visited she wasn't there and we tried it out - all seemed ok. She rang again so the next time I went whilst she was there and asked her to show me what was wrong......she put the mouse onto the screen and was trying to use it like a large Etch-a-Sketch bless her.
People with data problems: on more than one occasion when I'd asked them to send me a copy of their floppy disc with the data on, they put it through the photocopier.
Someone getting a connection to the internet for the first time.....he rang up to find out how long it would take to download the internet to his computer.
A work-placement student who got stuck at the first hurdle because of the message on the screen. It told her to "press any key to continue" but she couldn't find a key on the keyboard labelled "any".
When we had the first batch of PCs in that had a CD drive, at least a dozen of them using it as a coffee cup holder.
I've just started to read through this tonight and frankly am appalled at some of the comments you've made. Given that this is a swingers site, setup for people of all pursuasions, I'd have expected more. Alas this isn't the case.
I feel I have to respond to some of the misguided comments you've made:
You introduced the argument about the magazine that "outs" people who don't want to be outed and asked who gives them the right? I don't agree with the tactic, but the reason they do it is because there are a lot of hypocrits in senior positions (government, clergy, legal profession etc) who are gay but dish out shit treatment to other gay people. Two wrongs don't make a right but I have more sympathy with those who seek to do the outing than with those who are outed.
The fact that your sexuality is known by a few people here in no way detracts from the fact that you are making derogatory comments. You have clearly offended a number of people on here - the responses pay testimony to that.
You said that gay people are no longer beaten up......uhm, just what do you base this severely incorrect opinion on? This happens on a regular basis as has already been documented in a response.
You said gays should stop talking about it because "your sex life is your business". Uhm, am I missing something or isn't Swinging Heaven an avenue that encourages people to be more open about their sex lives? Where's the difference? If you don't like it, don't listen. No-one is forcing you to attend gay (or any other minority) celebrations or to talk to them.
Why do you think it has been necessary for the European and UK governments to introduce legislation to prevent discrimination? Do you think they thought "well there obviously isn't any but we'll change the law anyway"? You made the fundamentally flawed statement that gays (and other minorities) seem to want more rights than "normal" people....this is not the case. The minorities simply want equality. In fact I think it needs to go further than this.....what we all should want is the right to be different. Everyone has similarities and differences.
Pride celebrations (contrary to your views) are not about celebrating "taking it up the shitter". They are to do with a complete lifestyle....sex is a small part of the whole and isn't an integral part of the celebrations.
I don't judge anyone on what they do (in bed or elsewhere) and I respect their right to celebrate and do whatever they want providing it doesn't interfere with my life. I just wish everyone else was the same.
Hi Blue - I don't think we've chatted before but I'm a regular in the chat room. Usual nick in there is McrM4M-pvtOK (just getting this changed to the same nick).
I'd welcome a chance to attend if that's ok - be a good opportunity to socialise with some of the people i've talked to in the chat room (particularly Angel_Chat - hi sweets!).
Many thanks
I'm a male based in Manchester but travel south regular during the week. Up for horny discreet meets with other blokes in/around Manchester, Herts or anywhere on the M6/M40 between the two.
I'm interested in masculine blokes (doesn't matter whether you're gay/bi/married/curious, experienced/inexperienced). Into all sorts of stuff but there's nothing better I like doing than giving a bloke deepthroat till he shoots his load.
Anon meets with no chat more than welcome, and reciprocation is not required (although welcomed).
