We would usually stay for a few drinks even if it was obviously a no go. I am not sure if that is because we are polite, or we just like booze. Maybe it is a bit of both.

How good to hear you say this (whether it's politeness or the booze lol). I've made friends in the past in the same way. I always state up front that I like to take things one step at a time and something only happens if everyone wants it to. If not, no hard feelings and leave things at that - nice and simple.

[His reply was “{snip}...and who the fxxx are you to pick and choose with an arse the size of yours compared to a little bit of facial hair"

He clearly had beer goggles on - a generous size 12 (if that). Some people just don't know when the going is good. biggrin
I've always been curious regarding men who advertise as being bi-curious and wondered whether most of them are using the label to get to women they wouldn't otherwise be able to play with.
Slightly off-topic but I've also wondered why there seem to be an increasing number of men who advertise for women with strap-ons but wouldn't dream of taking part in anal with a bloke whether or not they regard themselves as bi....is this to do with being dominated by a woman, exploring new erogenous zones or a mixture?
Blue, have you thought about the combination of 8 bi-guys in a daisy chain covered in marmite? Now that is the future.

Perhaps a simplification of how the details are entered....
"Area...." etc. in a drop down.
"County.."
and leave it at that....
or dont show the town dialogue until the postcode has been entered so the update occurs on the re-fresh of the page and they have to backbutton or "change post code" button to change the postcode once entered.... oh the joys of off loading the validation to html lol

I think this sounds a much better idea. I know someone has posted a link to a postcode-to-town map in another thread (and thanks for that! ;) ) but I'd rather not have to refer to a "handy reckoner" every time I'm looking through the ads section. It's very time consuming and not exactly user-friendly. I'm just interested in being able to quickly spot people who are in areas I'm interested in without having to refer to a separate screen.
Hmmm......695 and was ready and waiting for a number of other questions that didn't get asked

Whats the post code?

When I first updated my profile, I put in a Manchester postcode....I chose to put in M9 which it said was invalid. I then tried M1 which also came up as invalid. When I tried M99 it said this was invalid but offered me a "valid" option which was M9....full circle.
With apologies if this has been posted somewhere else or should be in another thread (I couldn't spot one)......some issues with the chatroom:
Because the window is a fixed size and there are a large number of people using it, the list of User Profiles (from the drop-down menu option) only lists the first x number of people - there is no scroll to get to the bottom of the list.
The list of users (right hand frame) seems to sort in no particular order and keeps re-sorting every time someone joins/leaves. This makes it very difficult to select a user to whisper to.
I assume the more basic issues of slowness and rebooting are already being looked into. This is a major gripe for room users at the moment.

I've lost my forum avatar and I can't work out how to re-add it.....I see a lot of you have still got animated .gif files but the only place I can see to upload mine is in the "My Photos" section which doesn't allow GIFs only JPegs instead.

Blimey - this is confusing.....so my avatar IS still here (first posting since the change). How do I alter it if I want to?

I think it's only common courtesy for them to warn you they're about to cum so you have the choice of sticking with it or taking it out of your mouth.....i prefer the former but each to their own, and with a rubber on? Ugh - no thanks (tho I'm partial to Marmite too) lol
The only thing I'm not partial to is tight foreskins...always think about what's going on under the hood (as so to speak).......is that TMI?
I think the one Debz means is called Pleasure Chest....there's also Clone Zone and House of Pleasure (which is just around the corner)
LOL - gotta send this onto mates.....not sure how i managed it but in the second game he kept farting constantly
Oh how I love a little light night-time reading.....

Agree with Mister_Discreet's suggestion for a linked site which would keep this site on focus.....I'm not so convinced that there are people trawling through the M$M ads looking for relationships. Surely it's quite clear from the outset what audience this site caters for.
The considerable numbers of men advertising in that section is a good indicator that they already have the section they want - it's the second most popular section in the ads based on the number of pages. As of today, the totals are as follows:
Men seeking couples: 192
Men seeking men: 170
Men seeking women: 164
Couples seeking couples: 91
TV/TS/CD and fetish: 84
Couples seeking men: 43
Couiples seeking women: 55
Dogging: 37
Women seeking women: 20
Men seeking groups: 14
Women seeking couples: 7
Couples seeking groups: 5
Women seeking men: 5
Holidays: 3
Women seeking groups: 2
Clubs and parties: 1

As promised, here's the PM I received from Martin:

Hi Thanks for your PM, we have been asked over a dozen times for a gay dating part to the site. This would be in addition to what is on offer now, the Gay and BI part of this community is very strong. You will see in the first launch of improvements that the search feature has been refined to help on this side.
So basically if you imagine everything will be as described here and when you enter the site you can choose to go to a gay dating area, this will have its own forum, chat room, and all the other features. It will contain content that the gay community wants to list and it can arange its own meets and have profiles etc.
Your next question is going to be is it free?
Yes

My response to this (just for the record) is that I'm not one of the people who have asked for this facility and to be honest I don't welcome it and won't be using it. There are a zillion other sites offering precisely this service elsewhere and they are already firmly established. "over a dozen" sounds a very small number upon which to base a decision to "enhance" the service.
I would be surprised if this could be anything other than a "me too" service on here and it isn't what Swinging Heaven is about.
I think there is a subtle difference here that you seem to be missing out on. Men Seeking Men is used by a variety of males - some out gay, some in the closet, some bisexual or bi-curious, married/single. I suspect a lot of the MSM users wouldn't necessarily identify themselves with what you are proposing.
PS: Thanks for the support Angel and Gem - appreciated kiss I didn't take Ice Pie's comment about hijacking as being aimed at me (correct me if I'm wrong)...I assumed it was aimed at the suggestion of an additional "Dating" section.
I've PMd Martin directly about this, quoting my original text. I'll post his response here.
Although this question may seem unimportant to the majority of the members, I'd like to point out assurances have been given that existing functionality and services on the site won't be altered in the short term. The response here seems out of line with the approach which is why I think it's important to clarify it.
If one alteration is being made, there may be others that would impact larger numbers of users and it sets a precedent that the assurances may not be all they seem.
Could Martin pass on his response so it could be added here? I'm sure there will be others interested in what's happening on this.

Question for Martin or another of the new owners to respond to please:
You stated in a reply to Him n Her that "Honestly we have not considered creating a Gay Dating part to this site. Let's look at this after we have got the main site sorted out".
Can you expand on what you mean by this? Currently Swinging Heaven offers a Men Seeking Men section that is one of the most heavily used parts of the ads section. By "Gay Dating" do you mean an additional service or are you implying that Men Seeking Men may disappear in the short-term?

sorry to put a dampner on things, but I think they meant "Let's look at this after we have got the main site sorted out"
Believe me, at the moment they've got their work cut out for them as it is, just with familiarising themselves with the site .......... although they did find time to squiggle a logo :undecided: .......... but anyway - like I said, they're getting used to this place, then probably installing their pay stuff .......... they probably won't be looking into new suggestions for a while yet, or at least until that first bits done.
Could be wrong tho confused
Agreed they have a lot of work to do.....but I'm trying to find out whether they are talking about an addition or removing an existing service. The Men Seeking Men section is an integral part of the current site.

Sony have now agreed to stop production of this type of CD protection. See BBC site for various reports - AND it only affected CDs from USA.
cool

But they have stated they have no intentions of withdrawing these CDs for sale which could also surface 2nd hand on other sites such as eBay......
I can't access this - something missing in your URL?

Thought this was an appropriate news item for this thread. Beware the Christmas price increases

Strange that Sony should feature in this news article. They have also been slammed recently for including covert software on some of their CDs. If you are thinking about buying foreign (usually US-based) CDs or DVDs from any of the Sony labels, be aware that it may include copy protection software. This is installed without your knowledge or consent and if you try to remove it without having a serious amount of IT expertise it can mess up your CD drive and operating system (applies to Windows only).
An article is available here:
Look out for anything labelled "Copy Protected" or similar. My advice is to avoid these for the time being. Most online stores clearly label them as such and it's printed on the packaging so you can't miss it.
They are not the first entertainment media organisation to try this, but their lack of interest in the difficulties they have caused consumers is pretty dire. Other organisations (most recently EMI) withdrew similar software after complaints. Sony have no intentions of doing so, saying they will be moving to a different version.
The most serious aspect of the software is that it deploys a backdoor onto your PC which hackers can take advantage of, and a virus has already surfaced.
A case of buyer beware if you are purchasing internationally......
eBay addict here......I got the bug when I was looking for a particular 12" single, signed up and started selling, and before I knew it I was selling up just about everything I own.
Sitting here on an empty crate with just a candle to light and keep me warm, but with a healthy paypal balance so I'm looking through trying to find a load of crap that someone else is selling to give to friends and family for christmas.
So don't ask me to contribute to any lucky dip present schemes or you might end up with a half-used bottle of Smitty, a collection of Whimsies or the entire back catalogue of the Handless Organist on MFP recordings.

god maybe i shouldnt of bothered looking on here every single person has just taken the p i ss i am being serious here we are not desperate just looking for some added fun -snip-

People aren't taking the piss, they're just trying to help out.....this site is well run with a lot of well behaved and mature members, but like most it also attracts some of life's (shall we say) flotsam and jetsom.
My suggestion is to get bedded down in the site, chat to a few people, have a read through the posts on here, join in the chatroom too if you like. You'll soon get to know the regulars and in turn will raise your own profile which will help you to more successfully find what you are looking for.
