this case is just another example why death sentence should never be allowed in the justice system!

But you have to admit that the death sentence does cut down on the work of parole officers

have never heard of load of twiddle today, the knuckle head government announced measures to tests doctors competence anually,a move where patients accounts of their GP will determine their future...i ask is this move really to weed out incompetent doctors or there a secret agenda behind it...

Can I ask why you think why you think it's a load of 'twiddle'?
Surely making sure a Doctor is peforming as they should be is the same as you or I having a Supervision session with ourLine Managers?People's health are paramount and I totally agree with the new proposal.
the only reason i think this is a gimmick is words in bold, letting doctors future to be determined but mere patients who might have there own agenda is wrong..doctors have always been assesed by governing bodies
i totally agree. I work in General Practice and KNOW that the general public are fickle creatures. As was said earlier a patient with a grievance eg being refused a sick note when they are fit for work or refused a prescription the GP deemes un necessary are all to ready to complain. This does not mean the GP is bad. Therefore is the patient the right person to judge a doctors compitence. I suggest not. A GP's compitence should be judged but only by an independant body that knows and understands the role and ethics of a doctor and the psycology of health care and how patients are equally able to manipulate the system as a fraudulent GP.
Annually the government decide a proportion of patients per GP practice to be given a patient questionaire in to assess the GP patient friendlyness and satisfaction and this is assessed already by the PCT. The GP has to improve upon this in the next year and so the general public does have a say.
In GP surgeries we are also obliged to display a poster telling patients how to complain. This is a negative way to deal with things and many of us have also added tothe poster if you wish to complement the practice please do so.
Some of us work extreemlly hard for a society that are ready to crucify the service when they dont get there own way.
This all said tere will be, as in all walks of life, professionals that act unprofessionally and i agree if proven to be incompetent then they should re train or move away to another field.

excalty what am talking about,if you have to challenge then raise some facts not trying to outshine everyone opinions with absolute nothingness

Like these?
Quote by Phuckers
am just suprised this form of appraisals has not been practiced with doctors but this new move will affect their heavy workload, remember doctors are contracted to 60hours a week

Hmmm, 'fact' is, Poshkate has said that's not true in her experience. Who did you get your 'fact' from?
Quote by Phuckers
a doctor spend nearly quarter of their lifes training for the proffession

So, going on your 'fact', doctors will die at around 28? I think this has already been commented on, so I won't labour the point.
Quote by Phuckers
now in revenge they introduce tougher measures to try weed them off the country....

And that is opinion, not fact. There are no facts to be found that support this opinion.
Phuckers, if you're going to moan at someone for not quoting facts, make sure that you quote some that are correct. Peanut was debating points - I'm sure if you were to check out his facts about his GP surgery, you might find them to be true.
You're doing the same as usual - being rude to someone who has presented an alternative angle to the debate from you. If you don't want people to do that, don't post contentious threads that people have strong feelings about that may not match your own. If you want to post contentious topics, be prepared for the fact that someone will disagree with you. Peanut's contributions so far, won't result in this thread being locked.
i think you are mistaking me with someone who gives a shit about your bullish overtone, you are forgetting am the OP of this thread so by quoating my phrases you have omitted alot...ask yourself why people are running away from being teachers and doctors and yet they are career promising proffesions
you are always very quick to make it out that am rude and arrogant, advocating for others to boycott my threads,if you check my early posting you are the first to suffocant them with absurd comments and you've personally been responsible for over 7 of them been locked...now you turn around and say am rude to peanut
God knows what will happen to the likes of me when you become a mod

You ran that through the Google translator didn't you?
Sorry, but I have no idea what you either said or meant.
i might not have the high level of education to match you but going off topic to patronise my grammer just proofs the point of belittling people

Rising has just demonstrated what i was trying to say since thursday,he has included both facts and figures to support his statement very elequantly, has to why some doctors fly out to other country in search of better work environments
but to see peanut rip his paragraph into shreds just shows yet again his ability to diverting and suffocating any sensibly debate towards being locked, your challenge on Rising points are total factless but just an excuse to use the word fuck

Sorry but you appear to have made two mistakes:
1. A debate is when multiple people pass comments on each other's statements. You seem to think that if someone says something then it shouldn't be countered. Now I realise that your English is lousy but the definition you seem to be confusing debating with is that of soapboxing.
2. I used the word "fucking" not "fuck".
I have no idea why you revere doctors so much, but it's pretty obvious that they are up very high on your pedestal.

Doctors have to undergo annual appraisals each year, there really isnt a need to put Doctor's to the test, anymore than what is already out there to do so. Patients have sufficient choice mechanisms in place to go elsewhere if they are not happy.

Appraisals by other doctors perchance?
GP Practices are surveyed by both the DOH and local PCT's on a number of things relative to Primary Care, in some cases, the patients responses are fundamental to funding that practices receive (Choose and Book and the Choice Agenda) is an example of that.
Since 1997, the Labour Government have challenged General Practice quite vigorously, and it should be realised that at the heart of this government's policy, lies the will and desire to force GP's out of Independant Contractor status, that's really the bottom line.

I am no lover of this government as to me New Labour is a euphemism for Tory Lite, but by the same token what I am a supporter of is doctors being accountable to their patients, which doesn't currently happen in any meaningful way.
Hence we now see the onset of polyclinics, which will actually threaten GP Practice as it stands now, Im angry that having implemented many, many changes over the last decade, this government still feels the need to undermine one of the best things about the Health Service in the UK today. Im not saying we are perfect, but we are for the most part extremely good at what we do, and have first hand knowledge of our patients, more so than the locum Doctor who you will be able to see at at night.

That would be the same locum that covers nights and weekends for most GP practices would it?
The chance of me getting one of the GPs from my practice out of hours is nil, so please don't wax lyrical about these locums. They are already being foisted on us by GPs who have decided they only want 9-5 work.
Last time I visited my GP with more than one problem I got a load of bullshit from him about how the waiting room is full and I should make a second appointment to cover my second malady, i.e. the concern isn't for the patient, it's for the throughput. Incidentally, the waiting room had one more person in it.
It's examples like this that are common place are a great reason for more accountability by the patients the doctor sees.
A recent development has seen us extend our consultation hours, this has been forced upon us (financial incentives were available, but they are not funds that we could re invest) this was based on the sort of survey's that the initial post states, in that survey only 7% of our Practice response said that they were unhappy with our current opening times.

In my experience of several GP practices in inner city Manchester is that the exact opposite is true. The actual hours available for attending surgery are decreasing. Half-day closing on a Wednesday, shut all weekend and shutters down at 6pm.
What I suspect will happen is that the direction of General Practice will continue to be threatened under this Government, in my area we are about to open a Polyclinic, that is right in the middle of about 5 practices, soundly run, with good profiles, and good reputations, I genuinely do not understand that.

Yes the Government is fucking up things, but probably on an equal par to how the GPs are fucking things up too. Higher wages for less hours is the impression I've got.
Polyclinics are no good if the support services are not there to support them. What really needs to happen is a full look at the secondary care sector, the costs of your hospital admissions, the costs of your operations, the costs of going to A/E, because if you ask this Government, the only problems are in Primary Care.

Every aspect of the NHS is fucked ever since some bright spark somewhere said, "I know, let's treat it like a business and bring the accountants in". The NHS effectively died the minute that cost was deemed more important than the patient (in spite of the above I don't blame the GPs for that biggrin ).

Plenty of "you-tube" style porn sites out there at the min, Saying that most porn does nothing for me i prefer reading material where i can build a scene in my head picturing the story but mostly in a way you find horny or can relate to. Not the way the porno wants you to view it lol

i love porn.
research found out a larger percentage of male get turned on by what they see but female is by what they hear..so there

Whilst I think they deserve what they get I also feel that they should be more accountable to the people they represent...the patient. So I see nothing wrong in these proposals.

Kent, you need to lie down - you just agreed with Jaymar and me!

"Patients will be asked for details on how their doctor communicates, including how well he or she explains and listens.
The degree to which patients are involved in decisions about their treatment and whether they are treated with dignity and respect will also be taken into account."
doctors have always been assesed to ensure they've not employed some butcher to work in our wards, but the govt. lost a case in the beginning of the year to immigration tribunal against deporting new doctors from outside european union after spending years poaching them from asian and poor sub saharan in revenge they introduce tougher measures to try weed them off the country....

Its been a long time since I read something that was such utter tripe (IMHO) ....
The new measures are there to ensure Doctors are performing to standards.......Nothing more.......And if they are found to be below par in certain areas I dare say they will become elligable for training in those areas....
Where this revenge theory comes from is anyones guess dunno
call it what you wish but a doctor from india being suspended because he/she cant understand brummie, liverpool, geordie accent has nothing to do with competent doctor!
Given that a doctor's first skill should be communication then yes it does seem to me to be a measure of competency. You can hardly cure someone if you can't understand what the fuck is wrong with them.
It's just like Indian call centres, only in reverse!
thats just silly what qualification do you need to be a call centre worker as compared to years of training for a doctor
