Blame the past governments for allowing the supermarkets to have the monolopy of where we have a choice to buy meat from, and the price they pay farmers.
I have three supermakets within a mile radius from where I live I used to have 4 butchers.

After reading all the debate about free or fee paying members, I do believe that sh should have a history about free members so that new members know before joining that there are free members here prior 2005 that it was why the site become big enough to sell in the first place. I was miffed at first but knowing the facts I would still have paid and not questioned the free members being here. Years ago I also done a thread about the same subject I wasn't against free members but belived to be told would have been nice. It is not a pleasant read when free members say we were here first, if you don't like it don't pay go.
Free or Paying members we are intitled to have a voice.
I personally believe admin has caused this confusion not the members.
Would it just be easy to have all the information before hand to make a more informed choice to pay or not?

Something Admin should look into maybe.
I am not against the free membership I can understand how that came about, I do however believe people should be told about the history of the site before hand then people will join knowing the full facts.

The answer is that they're not, people will join and subscribe if they like what they find here, the fact that members that were here prior to when we took over the site don't pay doesn't come in to it, for many people when they make the decision, they judge the site on what they see and then decide if they think its worth paying.
I have been here a little while now, and although I have had a good time.
I did however join this site as I believed everyone here would be a paying member, we looked at free sites at the time and we choose to pay, but I don't believe we were given all the facts.
Sometimes we make a judgement based on the facts at hand, I did however feel slighty cheated when I soon realised that wasn't the case.
I think it would be better to have been given all the facts then people can make a more informed choice to join or not.
So sorry st3v3 I have to disgree with you on the point I have highlighted, the fact people have been mentioning about free members ever since I have been here, there have been various threads about it in the past, does actually come into it.
Why not let people know what exactly they are paying into, then you might not get people questioning it, as they would have known before they joined.

People come and go as they weave their way through the great tapesty of life. People change with time and times changes people. The colourful people of old leave, get bored for what ever reason and move on, and to some these become part of the golden age, but if you never knew them, have recently joined etc then you'll have your own particular set of colourful people and that in turn will become your golden age.
Finance obvioulsy plays a part in what gets organised as regards munched and socials, I've noticed that more are held in well known swingers clubs where if so many people don't turn up there's no financial hit. People can't continually take this hit if they're organising their own munch/ social and are therefore reliant on those that have confirmed actually turning up with their entrance fee. in the end if you can't meet costs you won't bother next time.
For socials most people who do actually go have also possibly booked a hotel for the night to allow then to drink and iron, again more expense and not every one can do that for every social they want to go to.
Finally although my membership is free, most newbies isn't, they either join for 3 months or a year. We now live in an age of instant gratification ... fast food, high speed internet, shops open 24/7 etc. I wonder just how many people join SH expecting an instant meet to land in their lap without any effort on their part etc and when it doesn't happen simply move on to another site without actually puttng anything into this one?

I think we should talk about our last wishes, I have joked with the children and come up with some songs etc I would like played, they have said mum sounds like you want a party.
Thats is how I would like to go, celebrate and remember the good times shared and not morn on my parting, have a laugh about the silly things I have done, dont regret the things we haven't said.
My dad passed away recently and the only form of transport he had ever owed was a motorbike and sidecar in the 50's so his last journey was in one of these:
I think is was so him he would have loved it, it gives you great comfort to think the day is about them and not your own grieving.
We done a picture board to with photo's of his life, happy times with many friends and family members to put up at the reception after many of which attended the furneral, we had a laugh with everyone there all remebering the happy times shared.
My dad would have had one regret that he wasn't there sharing it all with us but I believe he was.
So when I go I would like to go the same way celebrate the life I have had, remember the wisdom I hopefully have passed onto my children and have a laugh. So when I get around writting my last wishes this is all it would say.

It also comes up on adverts I believe aswell as we had the same problem as you so I went through and turned most of them off.

I'm in complete agreement with that!
So am I, but does the fact that we step outside of the norm, make us more acceptable of others who may step outside of the norm, in other areas of life. Or are you saying no, we are only more tolerant of our way of life, which is exactly what I feel is the case.
I believe tolerance is a state of mind, is isnt about what we do or others do for that to change.
I think you might be meaning that we might become more open minded in seeing things differently as we learn more about things we knew little about before.

I personally believe it can make those with tolerance stand out against those which are less so and can fuel intolerance given the fact the site is fueled with Testosterone.

BTW I wasn't here without his knowledge but he thought he would set up another account and not inform me then spent the next month chatting me up.
I don't normally talk so long to people without knowing who they are then one day he said he had got a cam and would be on that evening, people that knew me back then in the old Kent days and know I liked a laugh and had seen my hubby on rare occasions knew this guy had been lurking about and chatting to me in the room, even a friend of mine here at the time was hitting on him, so I called her to say he would be on cam tonight, the room was full at all wondering who this mistery man was.
He asked me to go on cam and he put his on, the room said my face was a picture when I saw it was my hubby and all he said was its great to know after 28 years I can still charm the pants off you.
I still get reminded of that day on occasions, like now hey Flower :lol:
