I dropped my keys down Dawnies cleavage the other day and we haven't seen them since!!   wink

While you're down there, can you look for a handbag that I can't seem to find dunno
That'll be down the back of the sofa with the other things you lost down there
Hiya - we generally let rooms run of their own accord without a host nowadays so no need to request it to be closed if you're just logging off. I'll pop in if it's still running and check everyone's ok.
Typing in a chatroom is different to talking face-to-face or on the phone because of the lack of other clues (e.g. body language, visual, intonation) for how something is intended, and I see this crop up regularly in chat on here and elsewhere.
It's good to see that you've taken the time to sort this out and I think it shows consideration and maturity. Too often people leave things to drift.
Hope it gets sorted on all sides.
I've asked a Mod to move this into the Chatroom forum as I think it's better placed there.

Oh, there's been some class ideas in this thread - thank you all!
One more to add to the pot (which also really annoys them): when you get a utility company ringing up and asking to speak to "mr or mrs xxx" or "the bill payer", I ask them to verify themselves first before I can pass them on - of course they can't prove who they are without giving away any confidential information that they'd normally have to verify you with, so....end of call lol
Always good to alert members to scams so thanks for this. Is this the first time you've received one? They have been around for a number of years and are getting more sophisticated.
Even if it looks genuine, a tell-tale sign is the link. Usually if you put your mouse pointer over the link it will tell you what the real link is (rather than what appears on screen).
And of course if you have any reason to think it might be genuine (although most are so obvious with spelling mistakes etc I doubt most people are fooled), contact the bank etc directly to ask rather than replying to the message.
You should be able to view 2 cams at once on a standard membership - any more than this and you'd need Extras. If you can't view 2 (or any) submit a support ticket and admin will take a look for you.
Ok Sarah and I have done an experiment lol
If someone sends you a message and then reads it in their Sent folder before you read it, your flashing red envelope will disappear but it still shows as unread (and bold) in your Inbox.
TBH I don't know if it changes the status - but by all means send me a message and read it first, and I'll let you know
The other thing that stops the flashing red icon is where someone has sent you a message, and before you've read it they opened their Sent folder and read it themselves. The system only looks to see whether a message has been read at all, not who read it.
So if you're sending someone a message, don't be tempted to open it in your Sent items otherwise they won't get a new message indicator.
If you're in chat and want help from an Op, check on the forum home page to see who's online - we're listed in purple, and in the chatroom we appear at the top of the chatters list with a gold star. Happy to help if you need any advice whilst you're in chat.

Still doesn`t really answer the question as to why the AUP is SO important when you are online !!!
And I`m not trying to be inflammatory or confrontational ...
But it is either "important" or "not important" ....the time of day or night shouldn`t be relevent to the policing of the site...
Whereas ...you appear to be saying that it is !!!
At the times of day when it is convenient for us to be online the AUP is extremely important ...but if I happen to be in bed or working it is less important....
No critcism ....just the way it is !!!

I don't follow your logic. The AUP is important and applies at all times. All members acknowledge this when they join and each time they access the site (usage constitutes acceptance).
An analogy: theft is theft whenever it happens. We all know what the law is, but unfortunately some people choose to disregard it and take their chances because they think they can get away with it. We're not saying "theft would only be theft when a police officer is present". It isn't appropriate to have police on every street corner at all times of the day/night because (despite crime being higher than we'd like) most people are law-abiding and the cost to the taxpayer wouldn't be outweighed by the benefit.
The Ops (and Mods) are here to enforce the AUP whenever they are online, as well as providing help and support. If they aren't online at the time, there are mechanisms to follow up problems at a later date. Admin investigate all reported issues and take appropriate action.
It does disappoint me when I see members saying they've withdrawn from using chat because they've been abused in some way. I can appreciate how they feel and it must be really annoying/upsetting. But the only way to deal with abuse is to report it and get it stamped out. I don't think many (if any) would be prepared to pay a significantly higher membership fee to have an Op in the room 24/7 on the offchance that abuse might happen. It's frustrating when it occurs, but thankfully it's relatively small-scale and is dealt with when it's reported.
I think it's a good thing that this has been raised. It highlights the need (as already mentioned) for additional members to apply to become Ops, and for everyone to watch out for our community and report those (thankfully small numbers of) members who try to spoil it for the majority.
One thing I'd like to see in future (and I believe Admin are considering) is to have a "Report Abuse" button in the chatroom. This would allow you to simply click a button to log a complaint.
Yup, that's where you'll find us if we're available:

And I know it doesn't solve the immediate problem but there are a few other things you can do about it:
Make sure the room is hosted so if necessary they can be kicked for whispering without permission and/or being abusive
Turn whispers off
Submit a support ticket or send a pm to Admin with details of the room name, approx time of the incident and what happened. They'll look into it for you
I'm currently with Pipex and have to say the service has generally been good (despite nightmare problems I read from other users). However, now they've been through a take-over by Tiscali who have been purchsed by Carphone Warehouse, I'm planning to move.
I've been doing quite a bit of research recently and the two that come up trumps on each occasion are O2 (excellent customer service and no hidden extras) and PlusNet (genuinely unlimited downloads on some packages).
I'd be interested to know if anyone here is using either of those providers - I'm in an area that's not due for LLU until 2010 and I want to move before then.
Thanks wink

Whether we like it or not, the BNP have democratically won two seats, the questions are...how and why?

I guess you answered your own question in an earlier post:

I have never voted in the European elections as I do not like European politics, so no doubt will abstain again.

If more people had voted (even protest votes) for more "appropriate" parties, they wouldn't have got the seats.
The fact is we are part of European politics whether we like it or not. The only way to change things is to get up off our proverbials and have our say.

Varken - these cheepo smileys aren't exactly the most expressive are they? Bluddy awful if you ask me, is that the best you can come up with?

Oi!! lol
Did I mention I have a worldwide patent pending on those?
If I told you that I'd have to kill you (probably drown you in honey).
I have a short-term solution....if we halve the emoticons in use we can get double the usage out of them:
