Edit: Actually I’ll come back to this – she doesn’t have a ‘right’ to be a parent.

noooo!!!!!
i actually deleted and then redid an earlier post of mine saying this, and decided against it as it would open up a whole new can of worms! now you have brought it up and i will feel the need to argue this point aswell now!
thanks a bunch! evil mad lol
Blame VelvetTigers bolt
sorry! just putting other points accross! i like to open cans of worms! Personally i dont think there can be a soloution to this as yes he has the right to choose(by law), but if she were already pregnant he wouldnt (is this fair? - or another can of worms?), so there can never be a resoloution to make either happy! My only heatbreak is that she will now NEVER have her own biological children, but he can!

Ooooh I had my fav fat dish for supper last night...
Fried mash potatoes with a fried egg on top
(you have to stab the egg to run all over the tatties then a bit of brown sauce) yummmmy...

Never done it with egg but fried mash - yumm! and yes brown sauce is mandatory! Mr velvet thinks i'm bonkers but who cares!

Ahhhh my opinion, a fight over the eggs, they would have to be split if they both wanted to use it, but it could be argued that if it is for another woman using his sperm, he could use any donor as he still has viable sperm to use (that is for a biological child). wink

I don't deny as it stands he has more options - but - he has as much right to the fertilised eggs as she does.
does he have the right to take away her right to become a parent?
I have been cosidering donating my eggs, and its something i will do when i have completly decided that my family is complete. At the moment i feel my family is complete BUT at 26 i feel a little too young to be making that decision, however i am aware i will need to decide in the next few years as otherwise my eggs will be "too old" to donate.
I agree that at the time of treatment the lady had little or no choice but to freeze embryo's, as the egg freezing process offered little or no chance of resulting in a normal healthy pregnancy (5% i believe - but feel free to correct me, i think its something to do with ice crystals forming in the egg which damaged its chances of fertilising and implanting).
I also feel that the man in question DID give his consent, IF there was any chance of him changing his mind then the couple should have chosen to fertilise some with his sperm and some with donor sperm so that she would still be able to have her own biological children. However the fact remains i do not think anyone should be forced into parenthood, BUT he did choose to become a parent of sorts. Many couples only ever get as far as being parents of an embryo during IVF and they mourn the loss of each embryo as if they would any child, this is why this subject is so emotive.

i DO feel sympathy for her, but when it comes down to it he nver agreed to father her children, he agreed to keep the options open for them to have children at a later date. now that later date has come he has made a choice that he does not want to have children with her, what kind of society would we be to force him to do so?

BUT surely the point is he DID agree to father her children! - but that due to her health the pregnancy was put "on hold" until a later date. If he hadnt agreed to father a child he would not have gone through the IVF process with her and she would have had the option of using a sperm donor and then this whole sorry mess wouldnt have happened!

I must admit i do find it hard to talk in the chatrooms. I find it easier to just sit and watch the gobby ones get on with it  innocent

:eeek: :giggle: saying nowt more! bolt
I have to say i also think the court made a mistake! He knew what he was doing when these embryo's were created, the fact that he has changed his mind shouldnt really matter now. If she had gotten pregnany naturally he would not be able to demand a termination just because he got cold feet.
i understand that this situation is alot deeper than simple black and white, BUT it opens a whole can of worms for future cases.
What about a couple that create embryos through donor sperm, will he be able to withdraw consent and they lose thier chance of having children. Could this landmark case even go further in the future and see biological fathers demanding terminations as they no longer consent to the pregnancy?
This has probably been done before but that the hell!
Its cream eggs i am referring to! - how do you eat yours?

I get the feeling we wouldn't have any troops being kidnapped and murdered in Iraq right now if she was in power instead of Blair.

Now forgive me if i am wrong but wasnt Terry Waite and the other men in Lebanon all held hostage during her reign?
I dont think its a very valid argument thats all - although i agree about blair being the US puppy dog!

And that's without the miner's strike business beforehand!

Coming from a mining family i have to say i hate the woman and her treatment of the miners (and yes hate is a very strong word). Her actions destroyed many towns and communities, many of which are still struggling to recover. Wont post more now as it means delving deep into family history that i would rather not bring the emotions back on - BUT I personally hope she rots in hell.
Actually we view things in the opposite. As the fem half of the couple (and the one that searches and views the majority of profiles) i prefer to check out the guy first. Maybe i'm odd in that! BUT it does my noodle in when couples advertise or you get chatting but there is only pics of the fem! ARGH

good post! and yes any-sort of medical scare really makes us al qhention our own mortality (and those around us). I was the same when our son was born at 26 weeks (should have been 40) - those were some terrifying times and we very nearly lost him!
On another note my mother is a radiology nurse and prostate biopsys are part of her remit (all with the radiologist in controll lol), theyre not as bad as they sound, pm me if you need anymore info - and big (((hugs))) fingers crossed its just a scare!

I was thinking of trying Swindonnewbies chicken dish but I've noticed the cheese has hardly any fat content and I wonder how it will turn out, one way to find out of course.
I do recommend my chicken dish contained in the same thread :P

true - little fat but tasty!
annnddd - i'm gonna be trying your dish on sunday!
ok!
4 chicken breasts
1 tub (300g? i think) of ricotta cheese
2 teaspoons of dried rosemary
1 large pack of parma ham slices (can use proscutio or v thin streaky bacon)
vegetables and olive oil for roasting
recipie for chicken parcels!
Flatten out a chicken breast with a meat hammer (or get your butcher to butterfly it)
in a bowl mix the ricotta and the rosemary together
spread the mixture thickly onto one side of each chicken breast
roll the breast like a swis roll and wrap totally in parma ham (like wrapping a parcel)
heat some oil and butter in a pan and fry until the ham is golden and brown
wrap each portion individually in foil and bake in the oven for approx 30min 180oc until cooked!
make sure you dont overcook as it can be dry!
alongside roast some vegetables (whatever you have lying around such as - aubergine, parsnip, carrot, onion, courgett, cherry tomatoes, butternut squash), if you want and added twist top with haloumi cheese 10min before cooking is finished!
We met at work!
