Whilst I agree with some of the points that have been raised contra the cruise idea, I have to say some people have been overly harsh in the way they've said it.
I think it's an imaginative and ambitious idea - would certainly be different - but not really practical.
It seems safe to say that for most people the idea of spending a ball-park £3K on a SH get-together and for that length of time even, is going to be out of the question. You would definitely want to be pretty certain that you know and get on with your ship mates very well and I think for £3K, you'd damn well want to know that there's going to be some 'action' .
I think it'd be better to do something a bit less ambitious to start with ... most get-togethers/munches seem to be single day or weekend events at their longest.
cool
I think you people are sick ... rats as pets?

... The giveaway for me when the site dies is the little message at the top of the screen saying about an SQL error smile

Wouldn't happen if they were using Oracle 10g RAC lol

apparently your system is telling me i have the wrong password , yet here i am , tried to change my password to sumfin that we can remember cos the one you've given us we think einstein might have trouble rememberin .
doubt this will get read but hey we all live in fu'in hope

No, it's not just you ... I had the same problem last night when I tried to log on ... kept taking me to a page to register as a new user - no message, no nothing about the password being wrong .
Raised a ticket about the problem but it's another hour to go before the 24 hr response time expires ... meantime, I used the send me a new passwd link then logged in on that this morning and reset my passwd back to what it usually is.
Other times I log in on the home page then when i click on forum, I have to log in a 2nd time ... rolleyes
Got to say - the service is a little flakey these days ... the downtime during UK peak activity was a bit odd too. I know there's a time difference between here and the US but the usual procedure for these things is that it is done outside of normal hours to avoid disruption to users ... at least where I work. Still, guess it depends on what the agreed service level agreement is.
Ok ... thread can be locked now as I've had my moan cool

i gave up cos no one offered me a lift mad :x :x :x :x :x xxj

What's wrong with you guys oop-north? wink
Can anyone tell me why Wigan is apparently closer to London than Wallasey is? SH distance calculator thinks it's just 171 miles to Wigan when I know it's about 210 to Wallasey ...
Wigan's near Manchester isn't it?
That's pretty awful - can't understand why people ask to be considered for these things if they're not 100% sure they'll have the bottle to go along on the day. It's just wasting everyones time and damages the reputation of single guys even further! mad

Come on Murray!
Scots to the 1/4 finals!!!!! hehehheheheeheh
:;)

Booo!
I'll be doing what the scots do when England play and be supporting whomever is playing AGAINST Murray ... boo! hiss!
cool
As for the match - they did well to keep it 0 - 0 on ten men but i knew as soon as it went to penalties that it was all over ... just as well I'm not a huge football fan ... my interest will now subside to ticking over level until Euro 2008 when I'll be cheering England on yet again and once again be hoping that THIS time, we'll do the biz!
Not sure I'll be able to get here on Sunday - if I'm not, hope everyone has fun, sure you will - but will be there this evening as I'll be in Lpool for the weekend ... any other SH members going tonight?
Depends very much on the picture but I think on balance, NOT ... bit of a geeza bird and occassionally sports a 'tache.
Think she does well in Doctor Who, but would not say she was that good an actress to be honest.
Nice girl though and I respect her stance re. Chris Evans and the divorce.

I love flowers, couldnt pick a favorite, well yeah I could actually, orchids. although I love Calla lillies & white roses too.
My hobby, believe it or not (and most of you wont lol ) is flower arranging and I do wedding flowers/ funeral arrangements for friends redface surprisedops:
the one's i like in the house best are sweet peas, but prefer to see flowers generally stil growing in the garden.

Funeral arrangements for friends? Gulp - so does that mean it's dangerous to hang out with you then?

I love them...I attempt to grow them every year(the slugs and I are not friends)

Going to give those a try next year - recently moved into my house and have been busy clearing the garden of the crappy shrubs the previous owners had planted and improving the soil ... To deal with the slugs, you could try using Nematodes ...

Not sure I have a favourite yet but I'm really liking the Calla lily I'm growing in a pot in the garden ...

Yeh but how many carpark nuges do women have that don't get claimed for lol
bolt

Have seen that happen a few times and make a point of noting the licence down so that the owner of the other car can claim against them if necessay - hate people who drive off like that and it's happened to me before.

I think it was more a case of using her pic without permission hun

Apologies curvy-gal sad
Silly question! Of course men are better drivers!
The guys who say otherwise are just sucking up to the girls in the hopes of getting a shag!
Ok, ok, statistically speaking - women may well be safer on the roads than men are ... but not when it's got anything to do with parking ... then it's total chaos! cool

I have to say I'm a little disturbed by someone posting a picture of someone else in the open forum dunno
I appreciate the pic is in a "Public Profile" but as far as I'm aware, you need to be a member and registered, to view profiles ?????
At least that way there's a some level of accountability ????
Whereas anyone that types the site address into there internet thingy can now see the pic ????
:dunno:

Don't know about the being 'disturbed' bit myself - but hadn't realised/forgot that non-registered people couldn't see profiles so it was an honest mistake and am totally ok about the mod-edit in that respect.
I don't know about people being born confident because I think a lot of that comes from your upbringing and your surroundings - but I believe even people who are 'shy' can learn to be confident in certain types of situation through experience/familiarity ... and to some extent by 'acting that way'.
In certain circles, it's often stated that It's not WHAT you say but HOW you say it...
You're a hell of a long way from me ... but I find this pic fascinating ... what a pretty eye you have ...
Mods edit - you don't own the copyright to this pic

... so it'd be worth a trip to see the other eye cool
I'm confused ... other than clearly illegal activities - what constitutes an offensive ad when it's a swinging site?

Its actually quite scary when you have a click through the cams to see what people look like and get caught out by seeing a blurry hand feverishly wanking away!
Many a time I nearly spat my tea out and burnt myself in the rush to get rid of that image.
Simple solution. We dont click on single guys cams!!

Scarey is putting it mildly ... not my cup of tea so I don't click on any single guy webcams as a matter of course ... the ones that catch me out are when it's a couple that turns out to be a bloke having a tommy tank evil
... I dread to ask but presume you'd be looking for clean asses ??? lol
Yup! Filthy side, almost as bad as the Portuguese ... though it was hugely entertaining yesterday for the wrong reasons!

Judging by your profile pics, there's no way on Earth you need to be on a diet - to be perfectly blunt about it - you're frickin' gorgeous! now go eat something before you waste away ... cool

Thanks for the brill idea and the safety tips
Im off to find my specs so I can read the small print winkbiggrin

... I get the impression there's going to be a sudden rise in demand for this Stud 100 ... and after reading that story, may let curiosity get the better of me and try it myself ... though that 20 min wait seems a bit of a passion killer ...

Hmmm ... I'm beginning to think everyone on SH has been on the wacky baccy today ...

Got to be honest, I think this is a ridiculous topic!!!
Still ... when in Rome ...
1 Egg, 4 slices bacon, 3 sausages, ravioli ... and a bottle Magners cider ... it's what I had in the house that was quick to do!
Very strange ... I have a Logitech webcam ... it's the communicate stx model and comes with a 2nd 'flexible stand' if you want to use it instead of the normal fixed stand. Basically it's flexi so can be adjusted to 'hook' onto the top of your monitor. Don't have a laptop but do have flat screen monitor. Am a bit surprised that your logitech didn't come with one as most of the ones I looked at did.
