I'd like to come along too so please add me to the list ... I'll be wearing day-glo yellow so easy to spot cool ... and know to avoid the Romford Road route this time.
(Have changed my username now ... DarkJedi is now _Darth_ biggrin ... would've just been Darth but someone already has that username  )

I really can't see the point in cats. They serve no purpose and aren't even indiginous to this country. Similar can be said for pet dogs. At least you can eat pet rabbits when the kids get bored with them.
Seriously, pets? Why?

Dogs and cats are edible too ... cool
I got my cat from Battersea, they're extremely fussy about who they rehome animals to (easier adopting a sprog probably) and I'd never have got my cat had I said to them it'd be locked indoors all its life given. Garden fence is about 8ft high and he jumps it with the greatest ease so there's no keeping him in - that's my boy! biggrin
Neighbour has a golden retriever, lovely dog and can't leap 8ft fences cool
Only time I've heard Battersea etc suggest keeping cats indoors are (1) it's a house cat as in a flat (not ground floor) or (2) it has FIV so if it got into fights, it could infect another cat.
The day I go walk the cat on a lead, I'll happily clean up its mess ... it'd be a goddamn long walk though, cats only seem to poop about twice a day ...
Steer clear of any of the tv ads ... same goes for the mobile phone ones, you just know they'll give you a crappy price.
About to have a bath then maybe watch a bit of 'Watchmen' on the DVD before bed ...
I only get them on facespace and mybook, not here
I do find it a bit funny if I get one from someone I've never met, I can't see the point of that.
... and yes, am sure there are 'friend collectors' out there ...
Problem is, you don't give any practical/realistic suggestion re. cats ... dogs and cats are very different animals and for someone to say, 'Oh, cat owners should stop their cats roaming' shows a complete lack of understanding ... were that possible, I think the rspca/pdsa etc would have figured it out by now and it would be law.
Cats learn to use a litter tray very quickly, some cats can even be trained to jump up and poop in the toilet, but if they have access to the big outdoors, they roam, catch mice/birds, because that's their nature and I'm afraid pooping in soil is part of that ... you may not like it but that's the reality I'm afraid.
The clipping birds wings thing wasn't serious btw, it was half joking because it makes as much sense as the 'stop cats roaming' idea does.
7dayshop are really good ... when I bought my Canon SLR and wanted a spare rechargeable battery, the official canon one cost something ridiculous like £50 ... got a non-branded twin pack from 7dayshop for just £12 and far as I can tell having used them for some months now, they're every bit as long lasting as the canon battery is.
Don't think sonic cat deterrents work that well ... I used to have on on top of the fridge to stop my last cat jumping up onto it and from there onto the top of the cupboards ... only effect was his looking around thinking, 'WTF is that noise?' wink
The green scented stuff seems to work ok but is expensive and doesn't last very long ... good for keeping the cat off the veggies ...
Not a hope in hell of getting a cat with a water pistol ... I keep trying to spray my cat with the garden hose (cos it's funny!) but he's way too quick.
Amazes me when people complain about cats roaming, have yet to hear of how you stop them other than to keep them locked up indoors 24/7 or building 8' fences all round your garden ... bizarre! rolleyes
I get irritated if I come out and see some birds pooped on the car ... how inconsiderate, we should clip the wings off all birds while we're dealing with the cat poo issue ...
Do we stay or should we go ... my own feeling is moving towards pulling our troops out because I'm not sure anything useful is being achieved by being there.

I was under the impression that the main reasons for going into Afganistan was to stop the training camps where the terrorists were being trained to kill people in the West.

I believe that is correct ... nothing to do with imposing our democratic system over there, not sure why people seem to think it is ... part of the nations obsession with self-loathing or something rolleyes
Presume you're asking about a digital compact here, not an slr system?
Olympus mju series are very good cameras though expect to pay £200+ for that easily.

I can't get my head around being "proud" of something I had no part in. However, I know that if I could, there are bloody great swathes of our history I'm actually pretty damn ashamed of.

... but if there are bits you can feel ashamed of (historically), there must be bits you can be proud of too as you will have had nothing to do with the good or the bad historically speaking?
Don't understand the accident of birth thing - well I do but it just seems an odd way of seeing things, it's sort of irrelevant, like being born male/female ... it just 'is' ...

I actually think this this underlying racial trait is one of the reasons that we are so violent as a nation, why we have to be trying to constantly prove ourselves (and failing) ... Again, a very broad generalisation but I am sure there is something in this.

I don't think we are any more violent as a nation than any other and it is a huge generalisation ...
One of the 'problems' the nation has, imo, is that we are all too apologetic and ready to tell everyone how crap/unjust a nation are when if anything, the opposite is nearer the truth. That's NOT to say it's all wine and roses either ...

It was something random orbit saidI've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the darkness at Tan Hauser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time like tears in rain. Time to die.

....and it made me think, do swinger have a built in life span.

Does he always talk like that ... or just after watching Blade Runner? wink

So if I let my dog roam around on its own, it would be ok for it to crap everywhere ??? !!
Because it`s hard to do doesn`t make it any less disgusting or any less of a health hazard !!
Because it`s difficult means I have to put up with cat shit all over my garden !!! I know who`s cats do it and I don`t see why I should be the one to pick it up. It`s just irresponsible to keep animals that leave hazardous droppings all over the place.

You're right, we should eliminate felines off the planet ... sorted.

It`s horrible ...but I can see their point .
Why don`t cat owners have to pick up their pets shit ??
Seems a bit unfair.

Bit impractical that one ... unless I'm mistaken, you don't let dogs roam around on their own - people walk dogs so will be there when it does a dump, cats roam far and wide so short of following my cat around all day, jumping over garden fences, up trees etc, I'm not going to be there when it shits to clean it up. It has a litter tray for indoors obviously but they usually stop using it unless its an indoors cat.
If it's any consolation - my cat shits wherever it shits but other random cats will shit in my garden - just one of those things
The Lake House ... Keanu Reeves, Sandra Bullock remake of a Korean film called Il Mare ... they changed it so much it made no sense whatsoever ... but most people prob won't have seen the original so ...
Day The Earth Stood Still... embarrassingly enough, another Keanu film though I myself quite like him as an actor ...
(Most disappointing sequel ... Transformers 2 ... what a pile of ...)

Cannot understand peoples problems.
If you are doing nothing wrong, then why does it bother some?
It is there for many reasons but most of the people with something to hide, shout the loudest.

I have to quote myself (bad form possibly) to answer that ...

... the move has been steadily towards a presumption of guilt as opposed to innocence.
Some will argue that if you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear ... a very naive line of thinking in my view ... it is always far easier to give up rights/freedoms than it is to get them back once given up.

... which pretty much is same as Max777's view ... and I'm not a tree hugger either wink
I keep it trim, once in a while, I'll do a mass clearout though and start 'fresh' wink
Do I need to contact them about membership of the club beforehand or is it ok being on the list here for the night? Know the club is Romford way but don't have an address for it as the website doesn't list it.
I think it's long overdue but it seemed to be pretty low key in terms of publicity for the day ... I only actually found out about it when they mentioned it on the news in the evening.
Unlike the US who seem to need little excuse to tell everyone how fantastic their armed forces are, the UK seems to go the other way and fear any kind of celebration/praise in case someone or other is offended by it. I'm not saying we should go all jingoistic, but there's nothing wrong with appreciating the sacrifices that have been made by military personnel past and present.
Hopefully that will change and I agree, having it on a Bank Holiday would be a good move.
It's been said that we in the UK are sleepwalking into a surveillance society ... I think we are largely already there and the move has been steadily towards a presumption of guilt as opposed to innocence.

Been meaning to check this club out - please add me to the list :-)
Neither ...
I think he peaked musically with Thriller which is when he went weird ... liked some of his tunes but was never a huge fan, do think he got away with a lot as a result of his wealth/fame ... never knew him personally other than as a remote celeb so feel no reason to mourn the man either.
There's a lot of hypocrisy at the moment as there always is when these things happen.
