I shant get too involved, as Kinks is on it, however I will point out that it's already illegal to smoke in Scotland whilst driving (since 2006) will get a £60 fine and 3 points, so if you go past the UK border, be careful.
Also I'm an ex-smoker (and a heavy’ish smoker at times) and I can hand on heart say that I can count on one hand the number of times I smoked whilst driving, and usually then only because I'd got into the car with an unfinished one, and put it out shortly after moving off.

Yeah !! But it`s such fun winding smokers up cos they get so defensive and it`s hilarious watching them trying to defend their irresponsible behaviour :giggle:
Most people who do all those other things would probably hold their hands up and admit being a wally but point out how bad it is to smoke and drive and they`ll deny it all, making excuses just like any other addict does.

There is no law against smoking in charge of a vehicle............yet. So no rules have been broken.
The Highway Code does not reference the guidance to any RTA legislation except to the smoking legislation but that is to do with work vehicles and not private cars

The original forum post was about pets being a distraction and that it frustrates fem_4_taboo, I just added that smoking and mobile phone use frustrates me. Experience or not I still see it as a distraction and yes maybe its not a straight £30 fine but if you refer to the Highway Code it states :
148: Safe driving and riding needs concentration.
Avoid distractions when driving or riding such as:
loud music (this may mask other sounds)
trying to read maps
inserting a cassette or CD or tuning a radio
eating and drinking
smoking
The Highway Code does not make it a specific offence to smoke while driving, any more than it is currently an offence to change a cassette, read a map or eat.
However, if any of these behaviours are coupled with bad driving, or lead to an accident, a charge of careless driving, or not being in a position to control the vehicle becomes a distinct possibility.

Experience. Smoking is a habit that does not need overtaxing co-ordination. People have an ability to place their fingers on any part of their body they so wish without being distacted.
If they cannot, then I would be more worried as it means they are impaired and unable to control a vehicle, hence the drug tests and touching parts of the body.
I think those that do not observe their surroundings and are not in control of their cars are the danger rather than those who have a bite of an apple, a slurp from a coffee cup or smoke a fag.

Ahhh yes but experience or not, rules are rules and same goes for dogs, fags, mobile phones. That's what the high way code is for but really if the police pulled you over for smoking while driving. I can't imagine that would be a valid point.....I'm experienced?? lol

I say yes its classed as cheating definatley. That is if your together meaning married or together as a couple (bf/gf) and you have agreed to play as a couple, then yes going off and playing solo would to me be dis honest.
