I'm involved with a couple of voluntary organisations and sometimes they need someone to do this or that and if it doesn't get done things will invariabley collapse. So I go yeah OK I'll do it. Then when I get home I think :doh: why the hell did I volunteer for that.... well they're next on the NO list evil

It occurred to me today that I seem to spend half my life doing stuff I REALLY don't want to do just to please other people, even people who really don't matter to me much.
I get myself into intensly stupid situations JUST because I don't want to upset others, trying to spare their feelings ... which results in m being too busy even to come to SH heaven to read the forum. Today was one of those lovely days when I had time to myself... feels great!
Now I've decided, to be more assertive, so next time someone asks me to do something I don't want to do I'll say... SORRY NO and if that doesn't work... i'll say... NO!!! NO!!! WHAT PART OF NO IS IT YOU DONT UNDERSTAND??
Do you think that'll work? Is it better to be brutally honest and upset others? Do you find yourself saying yes when you should be saying NO!?

was there a mistake? the word ad has become a noun on its own as far as I know. So no mistake there and you can relax I'm not complaining ;) but you (and anyone else) are most welcome to correct me anytime. I like learning new things every day.
I didn't correct you. Technically I suppose there should be a . after ad. but I'm inclined to agree with you that it's become a word in its own right.

I was just trying to reply to postie's "correction" because I found it funny he "corrected" me and at the same time he confused his "their" and "there".... but please let's stop that or people might think that I'm applying to joing the Spelling and Grammar Committee! :D

ADDis a verb that means to join or unite (one thing to another) it also describes the arithmetical process of addition!

I agree with all the replies above and that's why I don't think you'll have any problems here. You're female and it seems in SH all females are welcome whatever.

Wild Rice Venison Casserole
1/4 cup flour
1 lb venison
3 tablespoons butter
1/2 onion, chopped
1 garlic clove, minced
2 cups canned tomatoes
1/2 cup green peppers, diced
1/2-1 teaspoon salt (seasoned salt is also good)
1/4 teaspoon curry powder
1/2 teaspoon chili powder
1 cup raw washed wild rice
1 1/2 cups water
Preheat oven gas mark 7 whatever degrees that is no idea...
Boil rice till almost tender;
Dredge venison in flour and brown in a heavy skillet with the butter and chopped onion.
Place the venison, rice, garlic, tomatoes and seasonings and bake for 1 hour.
