Re Christmas finishing on Christmas day, Christmas has 12 days, they start on Dec 25th and end on Epiphany on Jan 6th when the deccies come down (I make that 13 days so I've got something wrong, maybe someone can explain.)

Safer than pulling a stranger in a night club. At least this way you get to vet the wierd replies first and there'd be a stack of evidence on your PC for the police to compile likely suspects if the worst happenned. Which hopefully psycho's out there will be put off by.
Seriously, follow the same advice that applies when arranging to meet anyone you don't know - off this site, answering a lonely hearts ad or otherwise. Trusting your instincts, telling someone where you are going & when to expect you back, not accepting a lift there or back, meeting in a public place, watching your drink etc.

The simple answer is 'no'. Only another computer could be programmed to do that.

Maybe they aren't visible in My Network Places but it might still be possible to communicate between them, if it is indeed a virus that is causing your problems.

I buy the occasional lottery ticket but have yet to win the jackpot. Am I going wrong somewhere? If you're a single male then it's a bit like that... more qualified advice not withstanding. Best to work out what distinguishes you from the crowd and play that up. If you're Joe Average then the odds are against you.

At a stroke you eliminate timewasters, spammers, scammers, dreamers, impersonators and the hoards of other desperados who spend all day putting up or replying to ads.
