Don't forget that men are in the majority on this site and the internet in general. We are therefore the largest target market for all the fakers and takers out there! Combine that with the relatively smaller number of actual women after your charms and you might draw the conclusion that the photo ads are best left for the occasional laugh and desperate, no-hope email! The forum is better.... no bots in here yet, so far as I know!
Hmmmm.... just thought, if that's right and men are in the majority online, then women must be in the majority somewhere else. If we can find out where, we can increase our chances by joining them instead of competing on here!!
It pays to be cautious. I came across some one from work on the photo-ads, only realising just seconds away from sending them a note with my pic. In my case, discretion is the better part of valour at my work, so I'll be taking their secret to the grave (or thereabouts).

As I failed this test myself I should offer only emphathy and no clue! Certainly doing your share and more may help, as may putting your own desires to the background, making more effort romantically etc.. Or maybe not - you'll know better than anyone else on here (unless your wife is on SH as well!). It takes two to tango. Still at least it sounds like you know just how effective cheating will be at solving your problem and you didn't need telling. You're right though, it's out there if you really want it (a case of 'be careful what you wish for' ?).
LazeeBoy's advice looks like a better place to start and I would have tried that tack myself if she'd been willing.

So I don't know what settings problem will give you that - unless your wireless adaptor is getting distracted by a neighbour's router perhaps (as happenned to me recently, see below). For sure security settings are all or nothing - that's the point of them. You have got security turned on haven't you? At least MAC security as already suggested.
You don't say how far from your router the PC and / or laptop are - and this might be a factor.
Wireless is good but if you're using the PC/laptop any distance away with a floor or the odd wall in the way then you might be surprised how quickly the signal drops off. Fortunately the technology is quite resilient and carries on working even on quite a low signal - but you find it does drop out occasionally if the signal is very low. Usually I just re-connect and try to re-position myself in the room.... stand on one leg, that sort of thing!
The other day a neighbour was having broadband installed and for some reason his bright new, unsecured, wireless router over-rode mine - and caused a disconnect (as his wasn't yet online). I was able to fix this by moving his router down in my laptop's wireless priority list. Why his router about 100 metres away should take precedence over mine just 10 cm away, who knows?
