da69, did you see the programme on bailiffs last night, they were charging illegal fees, if that happenend to you, would you say, "well, i'm better of than some other people so I will pay"?.
The problem with goverments, and this one is the worst I can remember, is that if you give an inch they take a mile!!!.

da69, I feel you are missing the point, because we have more human rights than other countrys we should give up some of ours?, I am not worried about other countries, I am worried about what is happening here, if we start accepting what the goverment want to do to us, we could end up like a third world country with no human rights.
Deecee, my point is that if the powers that be are prepeard to prosecute for failure to indentify the driver, then all 4 lads should have been prosecuted, the problem is the police would never be able to prove who pulled the trigger.
Just imagine this; police get called to a burgalary, there are two robbers in the house, one escapes and the other is arrested, the one that is caught will not tell the police who the other robber is, when the robber gets to court, should he recieve double the sentance for failing to identify the other robber?. We all know it would never happen.

I agree kiss, the problem with being prosecuted for not naming the driver in a speeding offence is that it is not fair.
On the telly the other night 4 lads were in a flat and one of them shot a air rifle at a young girl and hit her in the hand, because none of the lads would say who pulled the trigger, no charges were brought. If you don't name the driver in a speeding offence, you are prosecuted=unfair.

Sassy, I hear what your saying, there are car/lorry drivers who break the law and are bad drivers, i agree. BUt, and this is a big but, they are a minority. The majority of cyclists I encounter(I work in london) do not obey the highway code. Cyclists are thier own worst enemy. We all know how frustrating it is when we are sat at a red traffic light and a cyclists goes straight through it!!.

The cyclist may of had the right to be there, but cycling on a major A road is stupid. I hate cyclists, they are the most law breaking of all road users. NO tax, no insurance, no lights, go through red lights, up one way streets the wrong way. I'm afraid that is the majority, not the minority.
I got stopped leaving a dogging location and told the police the truth!, they were quite shocked. I just wish the police would get more involved when we get trouble with scum bags at dogging sites. The police tell us how bad it is that consenting adults have sex with each other whilst the house down the road is being burgled!!!.
