Me and a mate picked one up while we were heading to London quite a few years ago. Nice enough fella who was sociable and managed a decent conversation until we dropped him off.
When we got to London we found out that he'd been through the pockets of my mates coat (which was on the back seat) and robbed him blind of all his cash and cards. The cards turned up in a cash point a few days later.

The discussion is around the sacking of a scientist and subsequent resignation of his colleagues, who just happen to work in a government think-tank. It's comments like the above, which have no relevance to the discussion that will get the thread locked though.
As for his sacking being wrong, lots of companies have clauses about disclosure and bring the organisation into disrepute. I think it's when he took his own personal opinion and had it placed into the public domain that he went too far.
This is not the first time he has made controversial statements that have 'bucked' the governments official line and I'm sure he has been 'advised' of such prior to his dismissal.
I can understand that he feels frustrated by government policy, the council he belongs to have made numerous recommendations regarding drugs policy, yet the government continues to make judgments based on political influences. Imagine that. :doh:
However I agree with the government when they state that he has crossed the line between making recommendations and becoming a campaigner and that this has made his position unattainable.

I remember when Labour won the election. At the time both Labor and the Conservatives were saying that they'd knock a penny off income tax. The Lib-Dems said that they'd looked at all angles and they thought that it would be prudent to put a penny on income tax to help balance the books. How the La-va-tories laughed.......
Some time after winning the election (Just as the strains of D:Reams 'Things Can Only Get Better' was fading into the background), Labour announced that they had looked at the countries accounts and as the Conservatives had left things in such a bad way, decided that they had no choice but to ....... you guessed it, put a penny on income tax.
How curious. Lib-Dems could see that the need was there and were honest about it and the other 2 main parties either couldn't see, or ..... lied! :shock:
