I found the swinging scene by accident. I had no idea of the experiences I would have, or the friendships I would make. I made no conscious effort to find the scene, I made no conscious effort to stop swinging. But as my signature says (You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave) I can't walk away.
The reason I can't walk away from the scene, is moments like this. Yes, it is tragically sad as to why some people are here posting again, but on Facebook I have friends and acquaintances from this scene, and they are why I can never leave. That link will always be there and even if there is no swinging occurring, the bond that ties is there.
And I suppose that while I am still around the scene, then the scene will be still around me, and I do still have some unfinished business with some people.

Seeing as this thread is a trip down mammary lane, here is a few random thoughts.
I was upstairs chatting with someone, we heard noise coming from the garden, looked out of the window, and among the gathered people, was a chap naked but for a pair of white socks. It could only be you, Mike.
I'm not really one for boots, but they are nice. And his black ones. :twisted:

This was my first social. A good evening was had by all, went to a bar or two, I met some people that I had got to know via the chatroom, then last orders were called and we started to leave. I asked if we had somewhere else we were going, and I was told we are going back to the hotel for a drink. Naively, I believed her when she said that.
What was to follow was quite a baptism, a lesson and an education. It all went downhill from there. And for the record, I sat on the sofa absolutely stunned, like a rabbit caught in the headlights and choosing to stand in the middle only to find the car is a Reliant Robin and I got hit hard :twisted:
I was sat there chatting with someone, looked up and there was Lep, stark bollock naked, standing on the running board of his car, saluting as the vehicle went downhill, with Kat chasing behind it, wearing a pink catsuit. So surreal. So shoulder-shruggingly normal.
:inlove: The only thing that bettered this for me, was the photo Jas sent me for my birthday, of her wearing leather. The pic is now lost to the hard drive failure gods, so Jas, if you are reading this, could I have another copy please? I will love you for ever.
I remember choosing to end this particular night earlier than some others did. Went to my room, got into bed, and I received a text from someone asking if I fancied some company. I found replying with "Sure, it is room <insert number> was a little more polite than "Why don't you fuck off, I want some sleep" So moments later, knock on the door, and we sat for hours, talking about the scene, it's direction etc the people within it (as you do) when there was a knock on the door. I got out of bed (she was still sat by the window) and opened the door. Some complete random was stood there with a fire extinguisher and I stood there completely naked, he let off the extinguisher and I got soaked. I just shut the door, got dried off and climbed back into bed. There was another knock at the door, I answered, same thing happened again.
Third knock at the door, and my guest decided she was going to answer the door. He stood there with an "Oh shit" look on his face, not knowing what to do. Suddenly he realised running was the only option and squealed down the corridor like a banshee. That was one of the prominent memories for me that night, though there were many :twisted:
That was one of the two occasions I have been seen in a tuxedo. Remember one couple walking in, seeing Mal and myself chatting and looking rather scared mumbling something about bouncers.
Now that I have caught up with this thread, other memories.
I only went to one Notts munch. A few of us were in the lower area where the pool tables were. Conversation went in all sorts of directions, and spanking was mentioned. Within minutes, a couple of ladies :inlove: were stood spreadeagled against the wall, with a belt being used. I had hit one, and with each connection, she goaded me, saying "Is that it?" so each following one, had more put into it. Again I was goaded, so I really put some backswing into it. Due to Dlep being stupid enough to stand within 5ft of me, as my arm followed through, the belt caught Dlep on the top of his thigh, he let out a girly yelp and started jumping around. Moments later, all eyes were directed to the top of the stairs, and there stood Sarah, and with just a glare from Sarah, all of us darted back to our seats like schoolkids being caught by teacher returning to class. Oh Sarah....:twisted:
I do have many other memories, but I worked last night, was so tired I had to pull into a layby to sleep. Intended going straight to bed but saw this first, and have now been sat here for two hours going through threads. And not even had a cup of tea. And now I don't feel as tired, so will be a wreck later. I'm blaming you lot.

'ello you!It's been said many times that I am a gobshite, and during many conversations, I would be my opinionated knowitall self, and in one sentence, Neil would stop me in my tracks, and say to him "I hadn't thought of, or considered that viewpoint."
A very intelligent, and thoughtful man, he was able to pass information with intelligence, research and humour.
I guess one of the highest compliments I could give him, is that on a number of forums people have posed the question of a 'fantasy dinner table' where you could invite guests dead or alive. If I were to host a dinner party of people I have met through the swinging scene, his name on the list would be a certainty.
Like many people, we take each other for granted. I went to an airshow this weekend, and met up with a couple of friends I have not seen for 8yrs. You always think they will be around, and say "I must go and see them soon."
I have to change my way of thinking for a number of people.
If I do this, then in a perverse way, I have Neil to thank. I can honestly say he is, in some small way, influenced me.

It was my first visit to Xtasia, and it won't be my last (membership applied for). The staff were very friendly and welcoming, absolutely first class. The volunteers on SH' behalf who made last night happen deserve recognition for their efforts too, thank you all involved.
To those that I have already met, the pleasure, the privilege is yours. To those I met for the first time, the pleasure, the privilege is mine.
Not going through the whole names thing, with the exceptions of Sharif, it's been too long. And a huge apology to PitnBifem, I said I would come and say hello and I got sidetracked, I owe you one - next time, I will make more effort. (Big huge thanks to those who sidetracked me, I'm still smiling now)
Overall, a great night in an excellent venue with excellent people, it was a corker of a night.
