Hi...
Have you tried connecting camera to pc or putting card in a card reader?? DO not format the card !!!. Pics will be lost....When a card is first used in a digi cam it normally needs foramtting b4 you use it....I would go for the card reader method...but if your cam can access the pics and show them then it should be able to export them....keep me posted Gary xxx
Ok gulp looks like the results are in....ty all for postin on this thread smile .....better get some lube sorted lol...

just a quick one... because i am useless....
i have had the same problem where it is blocking people without me knowing...
so is there a way of just unblocking everyone on msn???
sean xxxxx
p.s
if you are a friends and i don't have you on MSN..... send me your addy and i'll add you (and i bet it will block it)

Hi not sure if this will help but.....in your options on msn you have a privacy tab....in there is the allow and block list.....it lists all the folks you have allowed and all the folks you have blocked (obviously smile).....you can unblock folks simply in there.....
Cheers Gary :)
Nice one peanut thats a great tip with the service pack....am goin to explore the site it came from as well.....cheers Gary.....

I have windows live mail installed on my laptop but I know most folks don't like downloading their emails to their pc's....so alternatively just make a shortcut to msn in firefox....Glad you all like Firefox....

Hi Gary, since installing Service Pack 3 I have been unable to download and install Microsoft updates, a couple of them critical. The download/install fails every time I try. Like a numpty I didn't create a system restore point before installing Service Pack 3 or I would have tried to reverted back to 2 !!! Tried various things, closing down Zone Alarm, using IE instead of my Firefox which is my default browser....any help would be very much appreciated - Bri

Ok first of all are you running firefox?? if not why not?? smile.....secondly try shutting down all non essential progs and uninstalling any you dont use any more....am guessing this is some kind of conflict....but I could be wrong I often am :)....is it time to restore your pc to its original settings??.... a good cure but always a last resort....as all the backing up takes ages....still thinking as I write this :)....to be continued lol ....wouldnt do any harm to ask the sh site experts as well :)

My dad has brought his lappy down for me to take to a shop to get fixed before i do that just wondered if it is summit silly, the dvd/disk drive opens insert disk but nothing happens go into my computer click on it and its empty so basically its not picking up any disks. Anything else i can try before paying pc repair prices?

Hi smile.....
Ok first thing I would do is put a cleanin cd thru it...just to rule out a dirty lens.....secondly does the drive show up in "my computer"?? and does it spin up when you put a disc in it??...new laptop drives are relatively cheap depending on the age and model of machine....they are only held in by one screw normally and that is under the keyboard....it could be that the drive has simply died....or that the lens is out of cal which normally means the same end result....fingers crossed its just a mucky lens....

Here's a tip for the more adventurous smile....
Copy Error Messages To Clipboard
What’s the first thing you do when you see a baffling error message in Windows? If you are anything like me you’ll pick out the keywords and look it up on Google. That’s fine when it’s something simple but all too often error messages are long-winded and contain lots of gibberish, which are a pain to type into the search box The temptation, is to try and copy and paste the message, but you will find that this doesn’t work as you can’t highlight the words in an error box, but there is another way.
Here’s a nifty little tweak that I came across the other day on From Windows 2k onwards you have been able to copy the text in error messages to the Windows Clipboard by pressing Ctrl + C, but Microsoft forgot to tell anyone. So the next time you get an indecipherable error message, just press Ctrl + C then open Notepad, WordPad, Word etc and press Ctrl + V, then you can highlight the text, and use it to search for a solution.
Borrowed from another site obviously :)

Hi smile ......
You are right the best way to keep your drive safe is to pull the IDE or SATA lead. There are all sorts of ways to access files on other drives.......Also your favourites and any photos or vids are not safe.....Depends how determined she is :)....Get them on a memory stick......export your favourites so you can restore them when she is gone....
Cheers Gary
Well said peanut exactly the right answer....just use firefox instead smile....Vista is not that bad....stuff is in differant places and things work differantly but fundamentally its the same just with a differant look and more options....XP with service pack 3 is fine to tho so dont go rushing to buy vista if you dont really need to....
Cheers Gary xx
p.s Technical corner thread still available :)
Ok here's a new tip.....one that I have already used several times myself.....having deleted my recycle bin several times in vista.....here's the easy way to get it back smile.......
1) Right click the Vista Desktop
2) Click on Personalize
3) Select: 'Change desktop icons'
4) At the Desktop Icon Settings, place a tick next to: 'Recycle Bin'.
Cheers Gary xxx :)
ps. Have a request from someone who is on the scrounge....they are wondering if anyone has a printer cable they dont need any more....it must be usb to parralel type.....to connect older non usb printers to usb ports.....ty :)
