Would you feel sorry for the bloke who smokes a 100 a day cos he wants to and likes smoking and then dies of lung cancer?
Its the same thing its self inflicted and i dont see that NHS money should be wasted on such a selfish individual who set out to get into the shape he is in by eating his way through enough food each day to feed a small African nation.
I read somewhere yesterday (maybe the telegraph) that it actually costs the health service somewhere close to 100k a year to keep this guy going, money that could prolong a breast cancer patients life by 12 to 18 months with the right expensive drugs (baring in mind that is not a self inflicted condition).
If this guy needs so much money to keep going maybe he should consider selling himself for sponsorship, i am sure Burger King "home of the double WHOPPER" could use him!!!
In all seriousness though imagine the outcry when this chap finally pops his cloggs and it costs 1000s just to get him out of the house, 1000s to chop down the forest to make a coffin big enough and 1000s to hire a crane to get him to the cemetry!!!
I have kept quiet throughout the whole debate for the reason that i got banned a few months back for venting my anger publicly about the negative and nasty views aimed at our forces.
I would however like to say i am proud to be on a forum with people like Kenty and Suffolk, Flower and splendid as although your views differ at least they are informed and based on knowledge.
To Mrs Kent, your boy although he will be in grave danger and peril, he will be looked after, supported and loved by his mates and colleagues, he will come back a changed man and he will react in his own way to what he sees, just love him, support him but never press him for details of what he did or saw just let him tell you in his own time, it took me 10 years to talk about Iraq so please be patient with him.
I have done 1 and a half tours of Afghanistan in the hardest of conditions possible and should be there now but for getting wounded, not whilst out shooting "rag heads" in a gung ho style but whilst rescuing a classroom full of under 7`s from a group of drug crazed Taliban who had fled there having tried to bomb a red cross medical centre.
We are not heroes we are just doing a job and we dont want praise or worshipping, but respect and compassion would be nice cos just like everyone else we are doing a job we are ordered to,to the best of our abbility, we are not out there killing for the sake of it in a gung ho style, we are there protecting and helping and trying to make it a better place to live, the stuff we do like getting meds and food to people and delivering aid to starving areas does not get reported as although its boring to the press, its still much needed and part of the process and still incredibly dangerous.
And whilst you sit in your Ivory tower himandher all safe and cosy the rest of us will defend what you have become accustomed to and make sure you still have the freedom you have thanks to those you so clearly detest!!!!
I am not getting into this debate again on here and frankly i am sick to death of reading the poison many of you on here aim at the armed forces, if you spouters are so honourable and can do a better job then why dont you get off your leather sofas in your posh conservatorys and join up.............. oh yes your gutless thats why!!!!
Well turned out better than we thought, thanks to the 2 couples and Mark for a great couple of hours.... heres to next time.
looks like it might be a quiet night in with the response we have had!!
Sorry did not realise GA had gone down hill and was having police action?
Hi we are planning on going out and about on Thursday evening probably the GA site and the lovely carpark in the trees overlooking the town near Ilkley, are there any couples thinking of going out that evening too, if so please send us a private message would be lovely to meet up.
I have never heard of anyone being stabbed for the price of a can of Carlsberg.....
However reading the local papers drug addicts are always in court for either armed robbery, mugging or shop lifting,so yes it is a police matter which costs us the tax payer and legalising it would make no difference as the user would still have to pay for the drugs.
With regards to the shop lifting that goes with it,then again we are all paying for it as the shops just increase prices to cover there losses.
"Most of the British army are foreign too" really?? Cant say i had noticed Bensrum, where did this piece of information come from and why do 95% of the lads i work with seem to be English,Welsh,Scottish and Irish.
As for why are we there, we know why we are here and so would you lot if you had to be here and see the things going on that are never reported and its all valid, yes its dangerous and yes lives are lost but we did not sign up to do parades and galas or to be stuck in offices or playing soldiers on Dartmoor, we signed up to fight for and to protect the people of the Uk and others that are treated badly by tyrants, and we certainly dont want to be called back home by people in suits or the general public when there is a job that needs finishing and can be finished.
In my eyes he was not the greatest showman, that would for me be Freddy Mercury, as for first memory or anything about Whacko...... nope dont have one and i am an 80`s child.
Hi Melting Pot no what i was saying is such.... Michael Jackson paid 20 million dollars to the family of the child he allegedly fiddled with and the case went away, the man down the road could not do that fact!
OJ Simpson even to the dumbest of people was guilty of murder (and has since been sent down for a further gun crime) but was found not guilty based on the person he was and the trial he was given again fact.
This was not me getting at Michael Jackson but simply starting a debate on wether people were "mourning" the man or the music and was not intended to go down any other road.
Cassie
Its going to be a great day, the sun is shining and its going to be a fun and kinda sad day for me............ Thinking of you Andy xxxxxx
Kenty your a star!!!
Cassie
xxx
Of course lost, but there also wont be any new music.... and i believe its the music we feel not the creator?
Also in follow up, the question i asked was are we mourning the man or the music, not is he,was he a kiddie fiddler???
Cassie
xxxx
Yeah but the fella down the road would not have the millions of dollars to buy silence, or the fame and blind support of 50 million fans!
Also easy to go to court as Michael Jackson and be found not guilty........... For my example of American law and its addiction to fame and personallities i use the name OJ Simpson, i suppose as he was found not guilty that must be true also???
Pearly gates moon walking.......... i think not, more like the gates of hell!!!!
Having heard the news no doubt it will be impossible to miss the death of Michael Jackson for the next week, this however is not a " " post i am afraid.
Who or what are we mourning?
Are we mourning the music the man created which love it or hate it, had some genius involved and will live on as a happy memory in time forever for many of us.
Or are we mourning the man who was a cowardly unconvicted who only got off because he was so rich he could buy silence, a man who thought himself to be so big he could just about do anything he wanted, a man who became a freak show and loved to fan the flames?
I am sure a few of you will have had a slight intake of breath at the last paragraph, but i find it odd that people are mourning the man more than the music, will we mourn Gary Glitter, no because he is a vile man who was convicted for his deeds because he could not buy silence.
Before you all start saying i should not be talking bad of the dead, this was solely a question to be held for debate and a plausable question i feel.
How is it that because someone had great song talent, we look past all the horror of his deeds and start jumping on the band wagon mourning him, good job Fred West had not had many top selling albums and singles across the world or he too would have been held up as a hero maybe (i know extreme example)!!
Long live the music of Michael Jackson is what i say and honestly mean, but as for the man that was Michael Jackson i personally shed no tears.
Cassie
xxxxx
Sorry but i also can not mourn a man who was an unconvicted , no matter how good his music was......... the music has not and will not ever die but the horror and freak show that was the man has!!!!
I would also like to point out that the great Farrah Fawcett died yesterday too but this will now be overshadowed and i find that more sad.
Oh and a note to Gordon Brown today is a very good day to bury bad news!!!!!!
Good shot but waste of good food!!!
I know this question may cause some tutting and frowning mainly from the teachers but i feel that this is the case.
We are in an economic crisis and teachers feel they can justify a 10% or £3000 wage rise (whichever is the greater.)
Now i appreciate we need teachers to educate our little ones but please this is ridiculous.
Teachers get many weeks holidays more than the normal working person, and before anyone turns round and says yes but they have to prep and do marking whilst on holiday, then yes they do for about 3 days out of the 6 weeks they are off in summer alone, my sister and cousin are both teachers at middle schools so i have not made this up.
Also teachers (who are there for the wellfare of the kids i am told) if things dont go there way and 10% rise is not given will go on strike thus meaning parents miss time at work to look after the kids and the kids miss valuable school time.
However try taking a child out of school for a holiday during school term when it fits around the family and you have to write for approval to be given, it just all stinks of double standards!!
Teachers really do believe in my opinion they can do what they want and demand what they want and if they dont get it they will strike regardless of the kids?
Ok start the backlash.
Cassie
Sorry guys first dibs goes to health and medical staff and there immediate family..... rightly so too.
Do you know that over 500`000 people a year die worldwide of normal flu a year anyway so its no real biggy, and this could be a huge boost to the economy and jobs worldwide as production of drugs and the testing facillities get so busy.
Anyway i know for a fact i have had intimate with a few "pigs" in my lifetime and i am fine....... off now i can smell bacon butties.
Cassie
I know a man who would have much to say about this but unfortunately he cant right now however i would like to say a little.
First of all the soldiers themselves do not class themselves as heroes they are doing the job they signed up for, with or without the support of the bigotts and loons who only have what the press feed them to go on.
As far as Afghanistan is concerned so much goes on under the radar that is a necessity and does not involve oil or religion but has got a major grip on what happens here and in Europe and can affect and destroy any family white, black and anything in between and that is the heroin that comes out of there the drug which affects and ruins famillies and lives worldwide and not to mention the money from the sales funding terrorism.
I know for fact that our marines and others are out there targeting and destroying opium fields and warehouses full of heroin ready to be shipped here there and everywhere on a daily basis and millions of pounds worth has been destroyed this year alone surely this is a good thing and part of a war that is necessary or do you want your kids to see addicts everywhere and houses being burgled to fund the habit?
Lastly i wonder how many of you would be giving your full support to our troops and calling them heroes if the troubles were in your home country and you were the ones being fought for to protect and remain free, i myself see everyone of the soldiers who fought for us in both world wars as heroes because without those heroes i wonder if you would all be sat at computers with the freedom you have and take for granted debating this matter???
Sometimes the whole picture has to be looked at, its not the soldiers who call themselves heroes it is the opinion of some people who respect and appreciate what our boys and girls are doing for us,who look at the big picture, the world needs heroes cos without them there wont be a world worth living in, heroes come in many shapes sizes and forms and acts of heroism can be small or massive but never trivial.
We all have the capacity to be a hero in some shape or other but how many of us choose to look the other way and not get involved................
So stay safe and comfy all of you happy knowing others are doing something you never would.
Cassie

However on a more serious note by Toby Keith a great twist in words
I never ask you where your goin',
I never ask you where you've been
I've never called and checked your story,
When you stayed out with all your freinds
I've never tried to catch you lyin',
I didn't want to know the truth
I'd rather go on lovin' blind girl,
Than go on lovin' without you
I wish I didn't know now what I didn't know then
I wish I could start this whole thing over again
I'm not sayin' it's you,
You could never be true
I just don't wanna know how it ends
You'd still have my heart in the palm of your hands
I'd still look like a fool in front of your freinds
Yeah, I wish somehow I didnt know now what I didn't know then
I've always said what I don't know
Couldn't hurt as bad as leavin' you
Turns out I knew what I was thinkin',
It ain't an easy thing to do,
Well I guess I should be goin'
I sure found out too much to stay,
Please don't say your sorry
I might wait another day
I wish I didn't know now what I didn't know then
I wish I could start this whole thing over again
I'm not sayin' it's you,
You could never be true
I just don't wanna know how it ends
You'd still have my heart in the palm of your hands
I'd still look like a fool in front of your freinds
Yeah, I wish somehow I didnt know now what I didn't know then
You'd still have my heart in the palm of your hand
I'd still look like a fool in front of your freinds
Yeah, I wish somehow I didn't know now what I didn't know then
Yeah, I wish somehow I didn't know now what I didn't know then
I was on an inter school cross country run which took us along the canal bank, whilst lying in second place i was just behind the leader who was from a rival school, about half a mile from the end of the race, anyway i was getting tired and thought i could not beat the leader, so i sprinted to get alongside him and shoulder barged him into the canal, i went on to win the race and thought i would get away with it, unfortunately one of the teachers had been watching us through binoculars and saw the lot, i got suspended for 2 weeks and my parents called in, i still always got picked again for the cross country and never lost a race after that!!
I also had mind blowing sex with my very sexy older Geography teacher, however i was 17 and this was after i left school, i met her in my village one night she had a flat tyre on her car which i offered to change for her, we then went to the pub where i told her i had always fancied her at school, and she thanked me for doing her tyre by taking me home and riding me silly for about 5 hours on and off, i will never forget that night.
