We have always turned up for munches in the past and do think its unfair for us all to be tarnished with the same brush as those who are timewasters. I'd be up for a Bristol social, especially as I seem to remember promising on the thread about newbie socials to show my support if there was ever one near me! I think it's a nice idea for a few people to get together for a drink and a chat without having to make a big munch-stylee expedition of it. (Although I just LOVE those as well!)
End of Feb is getting awfully close though, and most of my weekends are already booked - I started organising my swinging diary for February sometime in November! I'll keep an eye on this thread though, and see what dates you end up with. I'll do my best to make it.

You haven't said anything about yourself.... your looks, your age, your interests, your taste in music, your sense of humour, your marital status, your sexual preferences...... there's SO much you could say that might make someone want to meet you. I haven't posted here for a while, but just wanted to say, well, what Shireen just said. Gorgeous post, Laird. Couldn't agree with you more. I'm sad that things have changed, I'm sad we're scattered, and I miss a lot of people whose posts I used to love.
I wish there was something we could do, but I've come to the conclusion that there isn't, so there's not much point discussing it much more, or criticising anyone else for their choices. All you can do is join is as much as possible where you are, and try to make it a fun place - everyone you miss is more likely to show up there then.
This whole episode has shown me that we're all bloody impressive in some ways. I'm impressed with everyone who has stayed here and valiantly tried to keep it working. I'm impressed with those who started new sites and put in ridiculous amounts of effort organising and modding them so we'd all have alternatives. I'm impressed with everyone who has made an effort to post about unrelated issues and keep the banter going, to help newbies, to keep in touch with their friends, and to show us that this community doesn't rely on one website to keep it together.
We've also shown ourselves to be crap in other ways, and I've been saddened by the amount of moaning, flouncing, infighting, nasty rumours, internal politics, clique-iness, the amount of people who want to criticise everyone else, and the immediate 'fuck off' reflex when anyone feels they're being criticised.
The funny thing is, both those lists have the same people on them - and for the most part they're the people who care most about this community, the people who I most like and respect and whose participation has always been most important in forming this fantastic community. So maybe what this has taught me is that crisis situations show up both the best and the worst in people.
But I have faith in this community and these people, and I think we're going to come through it eventually - things will settle down, we'll regret our petty actions and harsh words, and forgive and forget and remember what we're here for.
