Manchester is beginning to sound exciting,

If you like excitement then Moss Side, Cheetham Hill and Longsight are highly recommended. lol
I live on the edge of Moss Side and it's great, really good community spirit - neighbours with phone numbers and keys for each others houses, kids all play together, go to each others gigs and art exhibitions. I help my neighbours fix their cars and write official letters etc etc
How many city dwellers live in a community?
Well said, I grew up in Moss Side and its not as bad now as it used to be, it really has changed, and you'reright, a real sense of community! AS well as being the spiritual home (alas no longer the actual home) of my favourite football team! Did I mention I'm a Man City Fan? lol
A two bedroom apartment would cost from approx £140,000 upwards, depending on where it is. They can cost a lot more than this tho, for example to buy in my block is twice as much as that! (No I don't own it! lol ) Buying a brand new build while it iis still under costruction is probably a cheaper option. Rents are expensive, but when compared to other cities aren't too bad.
Buying outside of the city is a cheaper option, and to be honest transport etc is so good, there isn't an probs living a bit further out.
I am from here originally, and live in the city centre. We have everything that London has, except the Queen and all those tourists (although we get a few of them here and have an open top tour bus in summer) oh and we're friendlier and it's much cheaper! (a very nice 2 bed city centre apartment costs from £700 - £1000 a month)
In terms of transport, we have excellent bus, train and tram services, parking can be a pain tho, but still not as expensive as London.
Nightlife, some of the best bars and clubs in the country, the infamous Canal Street, Deansgate Locks, Printworks are just a few, traditional and cutting edge theatre, with venues such as The Palace Theatre and The Lowry (National Landmark Millenium Project for the Arts), museums and gallaries such as The Imperial War Museum North and Urbis, second to none sporting teams and facilities, world-class shopping and excellent restaurants etc, Manchester is IMHO the best city in the UK, it has everything you could possibly want or need, oh and loads of SH'ers live here or nearby and we have several swinging club and regular socials!
In terms of rain, it is a myth, yes it rains, but statistically it actually rains more in Sydney than In Manchester! Hmmm, well ok, I guess the rain is warmer there tho, but you soon get used to it, its all part of the charm of this wonderful city.
Jobs, well it depends what you do, but there are always plenty advertised in a whole range of fields, so don't really think you'd have any problems there.
We also have to best football team too, MCFC! lol
Can you tell I love my city? biggrin If you want any specific details feel free to pm me!
