However if you could offer a better photo upload with automatic resize on the fly that would be helpful biggrin (Not to me with my MCSE and techy job, but to all those normal people out there smile )

TnH, is that a typo? Shouldn't it be GCSE?

No, it stands for Minesweeper Consultant and Solitaire Expert. rotflmao
Actually it's Microsoft Certified Service Engineer, I got halfway through one in NT4 before I decided that working with Windows made me feel dirty and Linux/BSD was much more fun. :)

Is a prevert what you are before you become a pervert??? confused :giggle:

No, merely me stealing lines from an old film.
By the way, you do realise I'm using my 500th post to reply to a question about the spelling of my username.
I was going to do a big long 'thank you all, you're wonderful' post, but I think it'd get a bit lost today. sad

You could at least have the decency to get my name right, that's PREvert rotflmao :rotflmao:
/bump as my plans for this weekend are still very much up for debate. sad
At the moment it looks like I'll be working my way through the new Christopher Brookmyre novel, I'm very open to alternative suggestions. smile

You mean this one???
:passionkiss:
That's the one, I found it again just after I'd posted in here.

Lots of emotion (and chocloate!) flying around right now wink
There are enough very clever and techincal people here to reinvent ourselves if we don't like what the next few months hold.... if Elliott and his team are as clever as they sound they'll listen. If not, then we all have a choice and, knowing some of the personalities on here, I know they will have no hesitancy in exercising it!

I think you've probably hit the nail on the head there. Setting up the infrastructure to support a site like SH in it's current form isn't difficult, so if SH is changed into something the current community doesn't like then the chances are that we'll all migrate somewhere else. It'd be a big pain in the backside and we'd lose the current content - a sort of new beginning.
If that were to happen then both the current community on here and the people that've bought SH both lose out - most of the value of SH lies in the large number of regular users that make up the communities of the forums and chatroom.
So, everyone involved on either side has quite a big incentive to work together to maintain a site and a community that is acceptable to both sides.
Personally, I'm prepared to wait and see what happens, I'm a part of another large online community that's been taken over and that's actually proven to be a relatively painless experience. Having said that, I was already a paid member of that community ($20 per year, so not a huge investment), and the new owners were sensible enough to be true to their word about maintaining access to free services.

Thanks again DF, I didn't think my post was going to attract quite this level of attention
After all, I'm basically still saying 'fancy a shag?'
I must admit I was quite nervous at the NE munch, the only one I've been to so far. I shouldn't have been, as everyone I met that night was very cool, and Sean was an exceptionally gracious host.
I didn't take advantage of Postie hand-holding scheme, but in retrospect it would have been a damn good idea.
My nerves also weren't helped by MartyCleveland being on the door - he's a great bloke (at least that was the impression I got after our very brief chat), but he's the spitting image of somebody I knew at uni and the sight of him at the top of the stairs was enough to completely flummox me, especially when I've picked a nickname that's very easy to get tongue-tied over.
I'm not sure putting all of the newbies in touch with each other is such a good plan - after all, they are by definition an unknown quantity and it's possible that they might end up frightening each other off.
If it's not too much trouble for the long-suffering but greatly appreciated individuals who deal with munch badges then the idea of a symbol of some kind to indicate newbie status might be worth implementing, especially if munch organisers want to delegate the task of looking after newbies to another person or people.

I'm just on my way out the door, but thanks so far.
DP, I'm asking about the dvd recorder/player things that go ubder the TV where the vhs machine lives.
Sorry if I didn't make that clear.

You were perfectly clear, I just thought I'd mention the possibility in case it appealed (having noticed your proclivity for persuading innocents to send you their naughty pictures for 'editing' lol ).
*waits with an expectant ear for the sound of jingling mod keys*
It's been done before, it wasn't very interesting, the search button is your friend.
Basically, that ration is probably accurate for the photo ads (in fact it's more like 10 or 15 to 1), but on the forums there's a much more even mix of men, women, and couples of all persuasions.
That answer your question?
I've not really looked at consumer DVD recorders, as if I wanted to record TV programs I'd probably use a hard disk based solution.
DVD recorders capable of dealing with both DVD+R/RW and DVD-R/RW are certainly available for PCs as both " units (for normal desktops) and as slimline versions for small form factor PCs and laptops. Since your camera has firewire why not take the opportunity to edit footage on the PC before mastering it to DVD?

I've been doing a bit of research and come across a new non-latex condom: Pasante Unique . It's non-latex, very thin, and comes in a plastic credit card sized package to ensure it doesn't get damaged in your wallet. Does anyone have any experience with them?
I've ordered a couple of packs to try out, applications for field testing by PM please. lol

As a follow up to this, they've now arrived and I've had a chance to examine the packaging (though I haven't tried one on  ). From the outside they look impressive, the credit-card sized plastic package is 2-3mm thick but bulges a little. There are three pull off tabs along one of the short sides, apparently with a condom behind each one.
According to the instruction leaflet, which is also small enough to go in the wallet, they have a flat flange rather than a ring, and are labelled 'this side towards penis' in a surreal parody of a Claymore mine confused . Width is 60mm, so slightly narrower than Durex Avanti (which are 64mm wide), and the instructions warn against stretching or inflating them. rolleyes The only obvious down side is that they're lubricated with a petroleum-based lubricant, so there's a theoretical risk of damage to latex condoms used after them, but given the quantities of lubricant involved, I doubt that would be a problem in practice.

Well impressed with your post, makes mine look positively dull, always give praise where praise is due.
Hope you have a great weekend mate.

Thanks.
Yours is certainly better than most in here, and I've been working on mine for quite a while before putting it up.
Given the response this is getting (and that so far I've got all weekend free to write it up, though hopefully that may change), I may be tempted to write DP's guide to a successful post in LMU. :notes:

Top quality post
That's al I wanted to say -- I'm not free or close by... but the best of luck anyways cool

Thank you.
To be honest, I'm sick of seeing one line or brief paragraph posts in LMU, I figured I'd attempt to up the ante a little. Besides that, I figure that if I'm asking people to spend time with me, they deserve a bit of effort on my part to let them know what I'm like and what I might be interested in.

Having said that, you'll be the first to know when I next take a trip down to the Midlands. smile
I'm still working out the exact design for my first tattoo, however I did briefly consider the adaptation of an SH pin to body jewellery. I normally use surgical stainless steel so welding or soldering it would be non-starters, perhaps epoxy resin is the way forward?
Of course then I'd have to work out where to wear it - ear would be obvious but probably not the easiest to wear, and nipples are the only other bits of me with holes in already at the moment.

But there will be other parties you can attend smile
:) Thanks guys, nice to know that I'd have been welcome had circumstances permitted.
My non-vanilla social life for the first half of next year is going to be virtually non-existent, but with reasonably good cause. Watch out when I get back though wink

Kinell long post ......looked thought it said tameside.
Then looked again i was going to pm you

It's just got a bit longer, but I figure I might as well put a bit of effort in.
Damn, I always seem to be hundreds of miles away from people who like my posts.
Still, I'm sure I'll find an excuse to wander over to the NW at some point. smile
Yet again I'm being abandoned by Mrs. DP for the weekend, and don't fancy doing any more painting, leaving me somewhat at a loose end. sad
Or, seeing the glass as half full, I have an opportunity to go out and find new and interesting people to have fun with. smile
I'm reasonably easy (not like that, well ok sometimes like that wink ) about what form this fun might take - a quiet coffee or a drink somewhere, a film (not sure what's on but I like horror, sci-fi, and other weird stuff), live music (punk, rock, blues, goth and other loud stuff with guitars does it for me), a meal, or just possibly an orgy of frenzied shagging. :) I'm based on Tyneside and only do public transport, though I don't mind doing a bit of travelling on the train if the right opportunity presented itself. I do have the house to myself (apart from a small black cat), though it's in the middle of being decorated and is lived in by a couple of geeks so it's not pristine.
Anyway, I'm expecting any interest in this to be from a social point of view (though other POV are welcome  ), so I'm interested in hearing from anyone really. If you're thinking you might like to shag me then really I'm looking for one or more (hey, you never know your luck) women, or possibly a couple - I'm straight-ish but fine with bi guys who respect limits.
Just for the record, I'm 6'2" and about 275lbs (19 stone+) - so I reckon I probably qualify as a BSF (Big Strapping Fella TM Darkfire), bald, bearded, and generally possessing an all-over body carpet. I have a few ear piercings and both nipples pierced. I generally dress reasonably casually (black jeans, geeky t-shirts and Dr. Marten's). Capable of reasonably erudite conversation (translation: talking the hind leg off a donkey) on a range of topics including science, engineering & technology, politics and current affairs, sci-fi, horror and fantasy trivia, board and roleplaying games, weird and interesting music, cricket, sailing & boat building, etc. I don't do football.
If you fancy meeting socially, then leave a message here - if there's a few of us then I'm happy to do a bit of organising and arrange a small social. If you want to shag me, then perhaps a PM would be better. If you want to meet socially and possibly shag me later, then either or both would be cool.
Edit: I should probably add that I smoke :smoke: and although I'm normally teetotal I don't mind being around people who're enjoying a drink.

WW could you possibly provide a reference for that statement about HPV getting through condoms? I only ask because I've just checked with Mrs. DP (who has a PhD in Immunology), and she's pointed out that since HIV is about the same size as HPV, a condom that can stop one should be able to stop the other.
Of course, since HPV can colonise pretty much any part of the body (it being the cause of normal warts as well as genital ones), the danger of infection comes from contact with bits that aren't covered by condoms (like fingers, etc).

I must admit to being puzzled too... I phoned the offices of Cancer Screening but no idea as to whom I conversed...
Apparently this PDF document about The Aetiology of Cervical Cancer is full of interesting stuff that your wife might be interested in...

Thanks.
I've had a quick skin through (concentrating on the part about HPV and sexual behaviour). It doesn't mention condom use specificallly, though it does mention that semen can contain HPV and that there's a link between HPV+ semen samples in men and HPV+ cervical samples from their partners. That would suggest that unprotected sex spreads HPV, but we knew that anyway.
By the way, is it a bit weird that when I first saw this thread I thought: 'that sounds odd, I'll just look up genital warts in the copy of The ABC of Sexually Transmitted Diseases on the shelf over there and see if I can find out'?
