Oh, the 'joys ' of the deep-fried pizza, eh, Tatty? I can feel my arteries hardening already.
As for the opposite side of the circulatory system hardening, I guess that depends on just how breezy it is around the close-mooth!
Don't trust BBC weather reports. I just watched one that claimed Glasgow to be in the south of Scotland and Ullapool to be on the islands :silly:
Well blow me! (oh behave, That's not what I meant. For once wink )
Just discovered that for some reason my browser is preventing me from seeing avatars & emoticons from animating. My little hand-held wi-fi connected in the pub has no problems.
Just goes to show that size isn't everything.... rolleyes
Me & my equipment are getting very excited about the weekend.
Did anyone else read the article about threesomes in the Metro this week?
It fetured 'sex expert' Tracy Cox saying that another person should only be introduced if you're young, free, single and looking for fun. Apparently it is ALWAYS a bad idea to have a threesome if you're in a committed relationship!
Guess we're all headed for the divorce courts, then, eh?
The moral is; never listen to 'experts' as they talk bollocks.

Ah, but this is only an excuse for you. A sprog on its 1st year will neither know what it's all about nor care. ANd why will a week or two weeks with a tree mean more to you or him than a month? Hasn't being involved in this scene taught you that quality counts over quality every time? (Those of you about to jump in & shout about having both, don't bother ; it did cross my mind, but you can get bored of anything)
All you're doing is indoctrinating the poor wee sod into the commercialisation and over-exploitation of the event. In future years when he knows what's going on you'll truly hate it, too. Wait until he starts demanding his presents in the middle of October & won't stop goingon about it because the shops and the supermarkets and the saddos with their trees up in August keep reminding him about it. And telling him he'll get whatever he wants just by asking.
as for those of you who insist on bringing this forced jollity into the workplace early, it's no way to win people over to your pointof view. Rather it will make them hate it even more because it's being forced on them.
I've seen houses that already have their decorations up. Yes, that does include external lights, thus forcing their jollity on the rest of us.
Shops filling the shelves with cards in September, I even saw a hotel that had a fully decorated tree in the lobby in June!
That's why it annoys people to hear about it early. I'll happily wish you seasons greetings at the appropriate time, which is actually months away since the Nazrene wasn't born in December anyway. Pagan celebrations are so much more fun & in keeping with this site, IMHO
Yeah, a wee bit more notice would've been a useful
Especially as this is your first post. We can be a little shy around here sometimes redface so let us know more about who you are before you invite us all into your home. You never know where we've been!
In the meantime, :welcome: hope you find all you want here. Look forward to chatting with you.
I don't see why rule 10 or 17 are a problem or why 21 is girls only. Surely Scotland isn't the only place with hairy-arsed men?
:moon:
Shhhhhh about the jelly babies; there're too many Dr Who fans out there poke
I'd be terrified of catching atheletes foot. Imagine explaining that to your doctor redface
Would you answer your ad?
Try letting people know a bit more about you and spend a little time here in the forums getting to know people. This is your first post so you have no history. If you're genuine you'll soon discover how many time-wasters & worse there are out there, then you'll see what I meant by my first comment.
Welcome to the site. Hope you find what you're after!
No, not actually advertising for a shag. For once.
I cycle a lot, but mostly alone and it's getting pretty boring. As the bad weather sets in I find it harder & harder to motivate myself to get on the bike. So, I was hoping there might be some Scottish SH members out there who fancied going for a ride that didn't involve getting naked.
Why advertise here rather than on a cycling forum? Well, sometimes it's nice to get to know swingers in another situation. And there's always the option for the occasional bit of outdoors fun, too.
Damn! I was going to keep this to the bike. Oh well...
As usual, work is picking up fast around the time of a munch. So far, nothing that's going to stop me, thank Thespis.
And, no, I'm still not wearing a kilt.
Wait until channel 4/5 shows another 'documentary' about it. Should be about five minutes, now.
Talk about it whilst you/watch, after it. That way it won't seem like it's comingout of the blue and you can sound out her opinions relatively safely.
Hallowe'en is an ancient and British tradition that the yanks have kept going more than we have because they were more scared of witches than we were. Salem & all that jazz.
But, yes, it has become much more commercialised and Americanised. Just like Xmas, which I now hate. BTW, it's called 'guising' up here (don't know about in Englandshire) and just try making one of them do a party piece to get their treat nowadays.
Oh, I was approached yesterday by a junior ned (what is the proper noun for that? A nedlet?) who asked for a Penny for the Guy. Didn't even have a Guy. When I asked him where it was he asked what it was! evil
I hate kids. Makes me wonder why I'm trying to make one.... wink
Ebay is the best place to get all your needs for satnav. I got TomTom5 for last week.
Okay, it has problems talking to my PDA as it has known problems with VGA-screened pdas, but at that price and as often as I use it I'm not complaining.
Don't try to do what the guy who crashed recently tried to do & blame the sat-nav. He missed the turn & it said to do a u-turn, so he did; without looking to see if the road was clear. Tried to tell the TC that turned up at the site that it was the computer's fault.
Do note that the maps are actually years out of date, even on the most recent system (which is why you get them directing you the wrong way up a one-way street) and that all routes are worked out based on where cars can go, even if it offers cycling or walking options. These just ignore motorways and, in the latter case, the highway code.
I hear that Memory Map is the best because the maps are supplied by Ordinance Survey and include topographical data, too. You can even overlay aerial photos on them. They are horrifically expensive, though.
The PDA option is much better than the stand-alone because they can do much more. Play music, video, run your diary, do your accounts and take notes. Buy a keyboard and they're great for word-processing, too. If you decide you don't like the software you can scrap it and buy new stuff which can't be done with the stand-alones.
I once had a friend who was asked by her then husband to talk dirty to him. She rolled over & said "Kitchen!" biggrin
Seriously, though, I find my ability to talk dirty depends on the person wanting it. With some it's easy and others not so. You might find it gets easier when you know her better.
Lucy, mo chridhe, your avatars just keep getting better.
Though I must confess to vaguely missing the smurf.
Which is worrying... redface

Soddit! (that's a grumpy version of a Hobbit, BTW)
I couldn't make the last one & I was looking forward to meeting you this time round. :upset: Next time drinkies
The old theatrical remedy of hot honey and lemon is good, but mainly for preventing it in the 1st place. Just mix honey & fresh lemon jiuce and find your own preference for flavour.
Very good for sore throats, though.
I also hear that swallowing is good for that..... :P
I was once dragged out of bed on a Sunday morning by god-botherers, one of whom turned out to be very pretty. Even, though I was tempted I still wouldn't let them in or get the old biddy who was doing the talking to shut up & go away. So Iet the door open all the way revealing my t-shirt with one rat stuck in a trap & the other holding it up by the tail & shagging it. The girl at the back smiled and looked down, blushing.
That was when she realised the view got ruder further south as the t-shirt was all I was wearing
I then announced that I was in no fit state of dress and went back to bed.
Does that mean I'm going to hell? Please?

...And this is a problem because?
I think it's a very nice bum & deserves to be let out to play with the rest of us who'll be arsing around on the night.
Rocked: Seeing Corpse Bride on a freebie,
Sucked: My sis going off on another one of her rants so we're not talking.

I may purchase an acrylic kilt off eBay, as they're not too shabby, on further reflection. However, getting on in Ancient Campbell (the only tartan I have the right to wear) may be tricky!

Firstly, please do think very carefully about buying an acryilic kilt. Many of them have been shown to be highly flammable and with the evening we're all looking forward to we wouldn't want anyone spontaneously combusting.
Secondly, no one has a 'right' to any tartan. The so-called family tartans and their rights to who gets to wear them were invented by a company in the lowlands after the repeal of the Act of Proscription and by Sir Walter Scott for the the visit of the big fat German lairdie to Scotland. The highlanders who wore them had far more on their minds than bothering about which colour of thread was in their tartan. Identification of clans was through the plant, ribbon or whatever they wore on their bonnets. Here endeth the history lesson.:jagsatwork:
Sean, the best place to try is the big kiltmakers on High Street in Edinburgh, if you're there any time. Howie is the guy who started doing the non-tartan varieties. I have to warn you, though, they are fearfully expensive.
Me? I wear the feilidh mhor, or folded plaid usually, so am not going to be wearing one to the munch. Too much hassle to re-doafter the event!

as a rule i/we only meet people we have already met at munches/parties or when we go to clubs, i find its a much easier way to meet genuine people,

That'd be fine for me, too if we didn't live in Scotland. There are no clubs and we've only had two munches in the past year. I agree with most of you, though as far as most ads being a complete waste of time. In all the ads I've replied to I've rarely had an answer and the one couple who sent us a phone number never answered it when we called. Been chatting to one couple lately who advertise, but don't use the forum or chat much. Perhaps if they didn't all require seperate sign-ins & passwords there might be more switching between them. But I do think most advertisers -with apologies to those here who do - are pic collectors and time-wasters. Most of them just want you to reply with a photo for their collection.
It seems to me that there are two types of folk here. Those who put up an ad' and those who, like me, only reply. So I was wondering what the proportion of members was each way. Really just hoping that I'm not in the minority.

If you could send me the list of hotels that would be great.

& the AA's website (believe it or not) are good for booking & locating hotels. You could also try looking at the tourist board's site. biggrin
Hi Lucy, Assuming I don't get a last-minute gig & that getting the boiler repaired (for the second time in a month) doesn't take all my spare cash I just might be in the mood for a night out.
BTW, I can never get your avatar to animate for some reason....
I dunno, you disappear for five minutes and suddenly there're hunners of posts to read.
Okay, I know, it's been longer than five minutes, but, hey! Life's like that. Anyway, had to say hi to all the noobs in the thread and looking forward to meeting you all with the familiar faces from the last-but-one munch. Assuming I don't get sent to the back of beyond again it looks like I will be there this time. Maybe even tanned if the wee tour coming up actually goes ahead. Then we'll see who wears a kilt for more than just weddings & rugby matches. Part of the check should be for tan-lines round the knees like I have at the mo'! lmfao
Ellie is also single again so not stuck with a non-swinging b/f and would like to come along this time, please Lucy. I may even talk her into hosting a wee party after the munch...
I'd post a pic of me in my modern kilt, but don't have one online anywhere to attach the URL from. Sorry. Oh, anyone interested in seeing me should PM & I'll tell those & such as those the venue for my next stage appearance.
