I don't think that is a reason to take every opportunity to bring the country down.
Yes, it is an example of over-zealous - even mis-guided beaurocracy but quite frankly if you think that it sums up the UK and is therefore a reason to take every opportunity to bring the country down then think again my friend.
There is a lot about this place that is really good.

I was born in London, lived in London, have spent my whole life here but....I always ask people to name five things great about this country, without having too much time to think about who have little time to think usually get to three, but never the five. Try it on somebody. Ask the question " name me five things you love about this country ", watch them struggle.
Now I know some will come back and list ten things but, only after having time to think.
One of the greatest BRITISH traditions still left is the proms, well the last night to be more accurate. But even this year they wanted to ban it as it might offend some people. You see for some it is too British.
For every one thing good there seems to be two things bad.
Councils who do this kind of thing are not uncommon anymore. They are greedy money grabbers, who prey on people.
I take my hat off to this person...I hope she dumped it on their desk and it collapsed. Some things just do not suprise me anymore.

Just to be quite clear - I also think that the lady's response is good. In fact the British sense of humour is one of the things I would list in your challenge. There are plenty more I can assure you.
What I was saying was that this example of beaurocracy gone mad - and before you say I know there are other examples - all reported in the media - is no reason to bring the whole country down.
I am still here because I like it. Why are you? That's a serious question not a provocative one.

I have brought up my kids I have my business but until I get near to my 60th Birthday, it is not possible. But be assured I will leave for mainly sunnier climbs.

I honestly think that many people underestimate the basic good things we have in this country. They are usually embedded so deep in our culture that they often go unnoticed and therefore possibly undervalued when pondering issues such as this.

Last time I looked 1p's and 2p's were legal tendar in this country. So where is the problem. Is there something in your rule book that says fines should be paid in the least amount of notes possible.
Have to admit when i clicked the link i expected to see something horrendous. Cant see the point of sweating the small stuff.

Hats off to Bromley Council for standing firm in the face of ridiculous protest from an old biddy do gooder. Bloody Rotarians.
I do hope they sent her and her ridiculous wheelbarrow packing with a flea in her ear and instructed their collection agents to begin proceedings.
They don't have to accept payments in this ridiculous manner. Bring back Thats Life so these coffin dodgers can have their say and the rest of us don't have to watch it.
