I didn't think the old 'Love at first sight' was true...
Until I met Nix - I poo poo'd the idea - yet one meet and we were both madly in lust then love within the space of 3 weeks...and still are.
Did you experience it as a 2-sided or one sided thing?
Was it really lust or love?
no
lp
Yep - if someone reminds you of an ex.
I don't know about love at first sight, but I defo think there's an attraction and 'knowing' at first sight. Love, in my opinion is a lot of things, it's months of trust and friendship, I honestly think to fall in true love takes time.
I firmly believe you can meet someone and instantly know if you're going to enjoy being with them, be attracted and in lust with them, there's sometimes an 'aura' around that person and you just feel something good is going to happen.
That's my take on it anyway lol
I know for a fact you (well I) can fall in love at first sight. I did. Different from anything i'd felt for any other partner previous the lust part took a little longer. About five or ten minutes longer biggrin

(Sick bags not supplied!) smile
Lucys post.
Lust - Yes
Love - No
Only with your own children I think love at first sight can happen
The old romantic in me says "Yes, of course it can happen." but the tired old cynic says "No..."
I think most chaps thinking when they see someone they like goes something like...
"Wow, she's nice..." A rather sweet general appraisal that ten milliseconds later turns into... "I'd love to f**k her..."
Now the weeping lavender hanky brigade of "New Men" will no doubt decry this. And say they think how nice she looks, and whether she'd be interested in a Mochachino Latte, or whether she likes Proust, or indeed whether she gives to any of the myriad of charities they support. However the end result is inevitably the same. To unlock the key to the knickers at some point. They just choose to get there via less obvious means.
I think love cannot be seen. I think Love is born only from communication. Lust and desire can be primarily a visual aspect. I think Love comes from interaction and communication, from shared experiences. It grows with you, it doesn't put you together, it is what keeps you together... If that makes sense.
Or that could just be complete twaddle.
I do agree some people fall in love a lot more quickly than others and as with most things, it is entirely personal. I think you can fall in love very quickly indeed. But on first sight? Nope. Which is rather sad really when you think about it...

That's my take on it anyway lol
When I met my wife, she was not my wife at the time, weboth found someone we needed to know better, it was a bang moment. If you will forgive the pun.
It took time to fall in love, but not much. It worked, we are still in love.
So Sassy I agree, there can be instant attraction, but love takes longer.

I'm thinking the same way as you both. I knew as soon as I met Mrfc he was the one, I know it sounds sooooooooooooo sickly, but he is my soulmate and we are still together very happy after nearly 27 years.
okay hand the sick bag
Tough one to answer.
Three years ago I would have said "yes most definitely" but three years later we have something so much bigger, better and just "more" than that initial first love we both felt. Was definitely a lot more than just lust when we first met and spent time together, but it's a whole lot deeper now than it was then.
So I think what I am saying is can you feel deep enduring total love at first sight, no because you need to know someone well in order to love them to that kind of depth, but to feel the beginnings of that kind of love... yes most definitely!
I now know what it means to say I love you more and more each day and I think it's bloody fantastic!
I think there is love at first sight; when a parent gazes upon their new born baby.
After that it can go down hill.
Im not sure about actual love at first sight, when i met my partner i knew there was something i liked as soon as he walked in the door, couldn`t explain it but just knew, then it got to the stage where i couldn`t be without him, and it gets better everytime we meet, the love bit sort of sneaks up on you
A week after meeting Mr Joy I told someone that I would marry him I was only young at the time (need to get that in incase anyone is good at math)and this year we celebrate 23 yrs married. So I think it does happen
