Sorry nothing to do with swinging......but I was wondering if anyone has tried the Maple Syrup Diet?
Bascically it's a drink made up of maple syrup, lemon juice, cayenne pepper/ ginger that's diluted with water. Depending on which version of the diet you use you can either have 6-9 cups of it a day and nothing else.....or if thats not for you, you can just replace 2 meals a day with it.
Beyonce has lost 22 pounds in 2 weeks on it......so has anyone tried it? If so, does it taste ok and are there any major side effects? I'm used to doing detox's so know that I have a fair bit of willpower and don't mind going hungry.....but not sure if it's a bit extreme even for me....
any advice greatly recieved..... biggrin
You dont need to diet ;-)
Cant help with the Maple Syrup thing PK
but I've recently tried the 'magic soup' diet (eat special recipe homemade veg soup as much as possible for a week (breakfast, dinner & tea) and I can tell you right now I swear I'll never touch any variety of soup ever again sillyuke: lol
fair enough it worked...20lbs in 14 days, piled the lot back on again mind, but repeatedly eating the same thing day in day out does nothing long term but make you loathe the stuff with a passion

never tried that one myself......this one though when you come off it (and the say only to do 5 days to begin with) you then have raw fruit and veg for the first few days and gradually re-introduce different foods so you don't put it straight back on, as often happens with other diets......hmmmm......all food for thought really.....
and Mallock kiss I know I don't need to diet but just want to trim down a bit for my sisters wedding.....she's lost an unbeliveble amount of weight confused and is tiny now, so I don't want to turn up looking like the fat bridesmaid.....vain I know but she's alot smaller than me anyway and now she lost weight she's tiny.

Reminds me of when me and my cousin decided to embark on the cabbage soup diet confused
We made up shedfulls of the stuff for our 3 day stint and promises that we would lose a stone in that time :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
Easy Peasy, was only for 3 days, that's nothing! :bounce:
First day, great, it tasted lovely and ate about 8 bowlfuls in about 4 hours. Trouble is, we didn't get past the first day :undecided: By the afternoon it didn't taste half as nice :? and by the evening, we couldn't face another bowlful of that slop, just looking at it made us want to yak, so either we didn't eat at all or we forgot the whole idea, got pissed and ordered a takeaway.
Plan B won :?
Plus my cousin electrocuted herself when making soup, which meant I lost about 3lb with laffin so much, and she lost about 5lb from the shock.
The Maple Syrup diet - I can imagine it would work, providing you can face dining on the same stuff constantly. I love soup, love veggie soup, love cabbage soup - but couldn't stand a day on it on it's own, let alone 3 :?
Diets like these are ok if you want to lose weight in the short term, cos surely you would put it back on quickly afterwards? :?
Also, I think they're only suited to people with a strong willpower in the first place - cos they do test your limits (or it did mine!) (mind you, I'm not exactly known as captain willpower :? )

Hello fatty :giggle: NOT!!!!! Advice: Eat little and often and not late at night as your metabolism slows drastically then. Excercise as much as poss or as much as you like (if you like it) and remember a little of what you like and not loads of what you like (if it's high in calories) and my own personal little secret.....WORRY LIKE MAD :taz: and you'll burn it off in no time :smug:

omg how true is that.....I've been really worried about stuff over this weekend and saw my sis and mum yesterday...whist my mum saw me before the weekend my sis hadn't for a while.....and my sisters first comment to me was omg how much weight have you lost.......my mum gave me the look that says 'have you got an eating disorder young lady'........stress really does make the weight fall off you....I've no idea how much I've lost as don't have any scales ( if I did I'd be on them all the time!) maybe I just need to get a bit more stressed and not bother with the diet :lol2:
I'm totally with you on the eat less exersize more thing...I eat a pretty good diet most of the time ( apart from when I'm lazy and get a chinese!) my main problem is my liking for a glass of vino....and it's only when I'm on a detox diet that I ever manage to cut it out totally......otherwise I just cheat and say one more glass won't hurt.....lol so that's whatt got me thinking about this as when I'm on a strict diet I'm really disaplined, where as on other diets I always cheat a bit.....
thaks for the advice from everyone kiss

Just to clarify that again....
YOU DO NOT NEED TO DIET!!

Just curious if anyone watched the program about Detox Diets a short time ago on the BBC..
It was the first full scientific study including the use of twins etc all monitored using all the known detox diets and not one made the slightest difference apart from what was in the head of the person trying. Not a single one!!
They also blew the one about drinking more water.. No need, the body uses what it needs and rids the rest!
One thing made a huge difference though.. and it shocked them all.. that was to use tomato puree (Concentrate) everyday.. this effectively slowed down the aging process and reduced wrinkles on the face.... Yes you do eat it and about 15g a day min lol.. not smear it on your face.
Any diet has a reaction to the system but your body soon adjusts and over compensates straight after.. Thats why the only truly effective long term weight lose is to change your lifestyle.

I missed that program.......I did see some of the programs about size zero though.....which showed girls eating negative calories confused
My question was about this diet in particular.....but if you'd rather discuss diets in general.....fair enough...... :?
PK you are beautiful as you are, inside and out :rose: :rose: :rose:
recall seeing an article in the last few days that said basically everyones body has a set amount of fat cells. the only way to reduce them is to remove them permanently with liposuction.
I remember seeing Beyonce interviewed about this, explaining that she used that diet for a film in which she was playing a younger, more child-like character and then the same character as a woman.
She said she wouldn’t recommend it: it simply enabled her to lose weight temporarily and quickly to appear more juvenile, and equally quickly to return to her 'fighting weight' to look more womanly.

Sorry nothing to do with swinging......but I was wondering if anyone has tried the Maple Syrup Diet?

 That sounds like a really sickly diet. Maple syrup, its very sweet. Even watered down.
Paul mackenna(sp) has a system that hes showing everyone. Its on a well known early morning programs website. I think his one is more of a long term thing though. No dramtic results like Beyonce. Its still worth having a look at though  if you want to that is smile

kiss Its very nice of you to say, but I too need to lose a few (cough lol ) pounds. The trouble is I have zero willpower redface until a major event comes up ( going abroad in four weeks time)then I crash diet like a mad woman
Time to take my own advice I think
louise xxxxxxxxxxx
I've tried several faddy diets and also well-known and respected slimming programmes and the answer to all is the same - the only way to lose weight effectively and for the long term is to change your lifestyle.
Little and often keeps your metabolism ticking over, don't stodge up on carbs at night - in fact don't wat anything at night unless you plan to jog round the block a few times to work it off again, stop eating crap and just do more! Be more active.
It's all common sense and no one needs to eat that crappy soup (been there) or live on half a Ryvita and a beetroot (that as well), count points (yup) or limit themselves to certain types of food according to what day of the week it is (ffs what???)...
whoever said it above was spot on - you may well lose a good chunk of weight on any of those diets but it's not effective long-term and really, it's just not healthy for the body at all, is it? It can't possibly be.
For several weeks, i've been watching what i eat and avoiding all the stuff that bloats me. i've lost some weight but now I'm stuck at a plateau. Not only is it a bit demoralising that no matter how often I check the scales, i still haven't budged, but it means now is the time for ...... (yeuck) .. exercise! confused
I'm sure Kate looks stunning as she is but telling her that won't make any difference if she doesn't feel it. Do whatever makes you happy, chicken x
Maple Syrup Diet?
was the research sponsored by the Canadian Maple Syrup Export and Awareness Board?

WLR says:
Pop star Beyonce may have a figure that many of us envy, but it seems she believes in the ‘no pain, no gain’ mantra to get it that way. In fact, this is one of the most extreme diets ever and makes Carol Vorderman’s detox plans look like a positive food fest.
This diet is potentially dangerous. Effectively, it involves drinking nothing but sugared water for days on end. Of course you will lose weight, but that’s purely the result of limiting calories excessively.
A tablespoon (which they say is 10ml) of Natural Tree Syrup contains just 26 calories. That means if you have six drinks a day (each containing the recommended 2 tablespoons of syrup), your daily intake will be just 312 calories. Even nine drinks only provide 468 calories.
The effects of this diet
This low calorie diet plan will leave you hungry, irritable and lacking in energy as your blood sugar levels go on a roller coaster ride of highs and lows. And chances are, the pounds will go straight back on as soon as you ditch the diet.
There is also the danger of producing a diabetic reaction to the very high levels of sugar and no protein, fibre, vitamins, minerals and all the naturally occurring plant chemicals (Phytochemicals) we know help to keep us fit and healthy.
After just a few days, it’s likely you’ll become constipated due to the complete lack of fibre in the diet. And if you follow this diet for any length of time, you could end up with low nutrient levels, including iron, calcium, zinc and vitamin C. Meanwhile, a combination of sugar and acid (from the lemon juice) is also a disaster for teeth and so may increase the risk of dental decay.
Bottom line: this is a crash diet – and one of the worst! Put it to the back of your mind and concentrate on getting a bootylicious body by eating a healthy diet that will shift those pounds slowly – but keep them off for good.
Not the greatest of reviews!!! :giggle:

thanks for that hun......I did see that last night when I was having a trawl round about it, but think I was so amazed that she'd lost 22 pounds in 2 weeks that I was a bit blinded and didn't really read it properly confused after a bit of thought on the matter I've decided it's not really a good idea and was probably just one of my mad ideas that pop into my head now and then. I think sometimes when I feel that I'm out of control of some aspects of my life I get obsessed with my weight as it's something I do have control over.
I've thought about it and think a better plan of action is to get my ass back down to the gym......I'd stopped going after having knee problems but I've made an appointment with one of the trainers for tomorrow morning to sort out a program that won't impact on my knees, and focus on getting healthy rather than ridiculous diets.
There are several types of excersise that are good for you...
Some of which are free innocent
Gonna sit back & take :notes: of all this advice on diets as I need a :kick: to loose some weight myself.
You have to be happy within yourself
good luck pk in whatever you decide kiss

Sorry I didn't read your sig properly so I feel i owe an explaination..
I was really making a comment based on the facts shown by scientists hired by the BBC showing you the need to detox as its all a load of hype.. And that Fad diets (assuming this ones a fad too)have the reverse effect long term.. Yes you lose some weight to start with but as soon as you eat anything even near normal again your body stores the excess it doesn't need any more.. Hence the post!
You stated you are used to doing Detox's :?

You also asked any advice greatly recieved.. :?
Seems a few gave the same advice I gave in other ways.. not so specific either.. :?
Gym is the best way forward hun!
I always loose the most weight quickest when I eat the most and train hard.
I've tried the cabbage soup as a quick fix in the past and don't mind it, but it's the will power to get your ass in the gym and cut out the treats like the vino etc that works the best- once you get into it its fine- i soo need to do this at the mo!
The syrup one i have to say sounds like one of the worst I've heard!
If i diet, i usually increase the amount of snacks I have, snacks being cereal, fruit, and veg, nuts etc and stick to eating lean protein like chicken, and if I eat lots during the day, then I don't usually need dinner after I get home from the gym.
I don't tend to eat a lot of processed carbs, but my healthy diet has gone out the window lately!
Fruit juice, beer, wine etc are all empty carbs which are my weakness- i need to stick to water!
At the mo we seem to be living off take-aways- it's hard to stick to a healthier diet when den is in the process of bulking up so is piling in the calories- and I feel really minging for it at the mo- not healthy at all :-(
I quite like Gillian McKeiths diets (even though I can't stand her!) as they're mostly sensible (although a bit over the top for an every day diet- no treats whatsoever) great if you're in training, on weight loss.

Any diet that can cause someone to lose 22lbs in 2 weeks is bound to be terrible for you. Less food, more excercise, forever.. or, if you only want to change your diet, lots of people lose a few punds if they go veggie or seriously reduce their meat intake (no pun intended)
