Someone I'd never met before, not even spoken to privately, certainly not someone I would class as an intimate friend, tried to snog me.
I wouldn't go as far as to say I was offended, but it did make me very uncomfortable.
hhhhhmmmmm . . . bear in mind i've only done 2 munches, so my thoughts on random intimacy might be entirely wrong, and possibly fuelled by alcohol . . . .
my strategy would be . . . once you're in that friendly kinda clinch thing, begin with ya innocent "nice to meet you at long last"type peck, throw in the tiniest nibble as you prepare to ((( ahem!!! ))) withdraw, and if you suddenly find 'em lingering a bit, full on tonsil action's the only way forward! seems to work rather well. not that i tried that approach on venus, oh no! never! it's either that or stand alluringly at the bar waiting for the girlies to pounce. that's not always so successful, but you can occasionally ensnare the random passer-by if you do it right.
of course before such an intimate exchange of bodily fluid, i would at least have to have spoken in passing on a thread, or at the very very least have actually read their name somewhere . . . typically on a badge somewhere about the left breast if i recollect correctly . . .
now while we're on the subject, how did you feel about venus snogging? just for future reference . . . . . ;-)

I only got one snog at the NW munch, but it was a good one.
Goes to the Swinging Heaven library and reaches up to the cliche shelf for a well-worn item. You know who you are.

Rather against the flow here but for us its a definate no. We would be offended at a munch in the same way that we would be offended in any other pub on a Saturday night. We have always reserved the type of kiss that is being described, solely for each other and find it a very intimate act that we have always kept between ourselves.
If as Venus has mentioned people are able to judge a situation and can work out if the recipiant will welcome the attention then fine, unfortunately our experiance has shown that there are a very small minority that can't.
It would seem by your responses, that most do not mind and each to their own, however I would urge that jumping in with both feet (does that sound right...nope) may not always bring a pleasant nor positive response. I supose all I am saying is the same as Wilki. Some like it others don't.

I was of course only referring to 'snogging' (a word I detest dont know why...weird fLuck) big hugs and a kiss on the cheek or lips is the way we would generally greet folk and is perfectly o.k. I was only referring to
