Actually think you will find that the international language most spoken for business and general communication purposes is no longer French it is English.
I was shocked to find this out when I lived and studied abroad. The host country and the people on the international course we were on, all spoke English as a second language as this is what they required to be successful communicators internationally. French has been replaced and the children at school are taught an option of French, Spanish, German or in some cases Italian. These are tought with the mind set of tourism and where we as the British most like to holiday rather than for business purposes. I have found many times that when telephoning abroad I try to speak in their language as a matter of courtesy to find they automatically switch to English.
Of course the Chinese language is the most spoken mother tongue as the nationality has the greatest population.
must buy a dictionary !! :sparring:

Sorry to drag this out but we had a job application which used text speak the other day A JOB APPLICATION FFS!!!
And that is the problem with it, that young people don't see anything wrong with it, and don't know any better. it was only for a work experience placement but still it's not on. So, we called the school, and the teacher acted as though it was normal. Standards seem to be slipping, and I really don't think it's a good thing...
Oh FFS.
It's a Forum!
Does it really matter?
Jeez.
