The end of Human Rights in the U.K ?

Dearest Members,
I had a very long & demanding day at work.
So I've missed the day's events & decided to look on the BBC Website to catch up on what's been going on in the world.
Well what I've found has made my blood boil.
In the below article:

A soon to be created database (yet another) will log 'workers accused of theft or damage'.
So if, like me you have had to deal with some real
nasty pieces of work in the workplace that have had power due to position of authority then you could be in real trouble in the very near future.
Now in my view if a employee is deemed to have robbed from their employers then the Police should be called into this issue to investigate this complaint.
Yet under this new planned 'database' an employer / Boss / Company can simply mention that an indivuial was a thief & will be placed on a Black-list.
Another issue is if a person was placed on the 'Database' & at appeal they lost then they would become unemployable therefore be on State Benefits till the day that they die as no future employer would recruit them. Look at the amount of ex - prison offenders that gain employment in the U.K ?
We are not a forgiving type of nation. We love to punish & judge.
I am worried that in the current climate where Bosses are sacking record numbers of employees on the spot due to watching Sir Alan Sugar doing it on a television program.
Totally disregarding their own internal discipline process, this is a recipe for total social disaster:
Where innocent people will have their lives damaged.
Increase on State Benifts as people will be looking for work but will never get any due to being Black-listed.
Increase in crime as people cannot live on State Benefits. Fraud or crime will occur to boost income.
Ethnic Minorities & Minorities groups could be a high percentage of those on the mentioned Black-List.
Human Rights in the U.K is NOW dead.

Can you explain this bit for me please?

That would mean most small employers then !
AND some of their employees who want to rise within the organisation (arselickers)

I think you'll find it is a legal requirement

a practice common in some industries anyway....construction and engineering are just two

No...under current rules they will "have made themselves unemployed" and will not be able to claim various benefits. They may be entitled to "hardship benefits" but they may not qualify for them either. In any case, a life on benefits is not a life of ease, no matter what the press would have you believe
We are not a forgiving type of nation. We love to punish & judge.

In fact we go out-of-our-way to denigrate, insult and loathe those who do not meet social ctiteria. Often said criteria are decided and approved by the media, a business often top-heavy with the "nose candy" type of management.

Look on the ACAS website for the correct means to dismiss an employee. This is a LEGAL REQUIREMENT. Just stating to someone: "Sorry, but you're out. Pack-up and get out" would mean that they have already breached those requirements.
Increase of state benefits as people will be looking for work but will never get any due to being Black-listed.

Like those over 50 ?
Or those with minor medical problems ?
Both the above coming within existing legislation to protect those who are old or who may be disabled. Both sets of laws already being ignored by employers.
Increase in crime as people cannot live on State Benefits. Fraud or crime will occur to boost income.

Lets see....you become unemployed. You "enroll" for benefits. After a few weeks, when you've been through the endless list of "employment advisors" (none of who know anything outside their narrow remit) you are finally cleared for benefit. You will then receive (it is inevitable) missives from "decision makers" (yes, the pubic services have a legion of silly titles awarded to morons) stating you are not entitled to that benefit, or this benefit, or the other benefit. That's after you have received advice that you were entitled to it from another over-promoted dummy.
Ethnic Minorities & Minorities groups could be a high percentage of those on the mentioned Black-List.

See existing laws relating to discrimination
Human Rights in the U.K is NOW dead.

Well, you're right there. BUT it is the GOVERNMENT who discriminate against people, much more than business.
Wunderhorse, you are scaremongering.
Unemployable for life - no, details are only held for 5 years.
Employees have the right to amend any entry they feel is incorrect.
"Ethnic Minorities & Minorities groups could be a high percentage of those on the mentioned Black-List."
no mention of race whatsoever, so why bring that up?
Not all employers will be allowed/want to use it, so plenty of employers who can employ people who may be affected by it.
What evidence do you have of the record number of sackings due to Alan Sugar?
then saying "Increase in crime as people cannot live on State Benefits. Fraud or crime will occur to boost income." you have the evidence to back this up too?

He had to mention it - race is a big issue for him.

Or alternatively he could exercise his right to comment on things he disagrees with, or to try to get those things changed, and stay here.

You only have the right to comment if it does not offend anyone else, goes against their beliefs, or contradicts their opinion.
Failing that, move to China

What? So I can't say my piece anymore in case it doesn't tally with what someone else thinks?!

his comments are nothing short of scaremongering, with the Race card thrown in for good measure!

Whilst I don't agree with everything Wunderhorse said, I must admit I read the same article yesterday before seeing this thread and did think that the actual idea of the database is a tad worrying. Personally, I do think that a system like this could potentially be open to abuse.
Whatever happened to the old system of getting a refernce? dunno

have you ever tried chasing up an old or even a present employer for a reference?

if this is a serious quote you really have some strange ideas.
p.s. i dont give a monkeys if that offends you, goes against you beliefs or opinions .
Yet another example that if you say anything against a minority group, someone jumps down your throat.
Dearest Members,
I must say that I have enjoyed reading all the views up to this point.
This means both for & against my original post.
Am a firm believer in all points of view need expression with this making us slightly better than the mentioned China. Now I never mentioned China but it got in their somehow ?
I feel like the person in the ‘crows nest’ of the Titanic sighting that now infamous iceberg but unable to mention this as it might just upset the guests…
We have all read about the numerous loss of personal confidential information from within the Public Sector over the recent past. All where held on mentioned you guessed it:
Databases that are held on Laptops, C.D or Pen drives.
Here is some incidents just to jog them memory banks (get it memory banks):

After reading the above 3 articles do you honestly feel comfortable about yet another Database being created ?
Well am going into the other stuff now to support my views:
1: The Sir Alan Sugar affect within the U.K workplace.

2: People are…now say this very quietly in case you upset anyone discriminated against within the U.K.

3: The lower the income the greater the crime rate…Think about it if you are in a well paid job why would you want to rob a person in the street ?

All I can say is that I bring issues up that others; it seems do not want to raise within this community. If that is so bad then why must I goes to China when the Sun is out & the weather is currently lovely in Liverpool..?
In a nutshell this is my idea….
Extend the remit of the CRB Check to include this but only after Police / Legal intervention over accusations from employers over conduct of employees.
This would go via due process or the legal system then a decision would be made.
Am against a company calling anyone a thief without calling the Police to investigate.
Also be aware thatI am taking my views to my local M.P via E – Mail over this issue along with my concerns how this will damage the U.K in social – economic terms.
I hope I have answered all your questions if not then post them in this thread.
From,
Wunderhorse.
I was speaking in general.
On this forum now it seems to me that if anyone mentions race/colour/creed people start having a go at them. It's one of the reasons that I tend to stay out of alot of debates.

In this case, the race card was played unnecessarily. Wunderhorse has a habit of bringing race into his threads. Just off the top of my head, without searching, I can think of examples of threads with his particular form of racial bias: headline act at a festival; comedian; racing driver.

I think it`s because Wunder tries to bring "race" into every thread .... It always comes across as him being racist ....unfortunate , I know , but that is how he comes across !!
Yep.
I've nothing to hide so I don't care..... rolleyes

Dearest Freckledbird,
That's just me.
Now I made a point about Data Protection or lack of it within the Public Sector of the United Kingdom.
Don't you agree with this..?
Am not a fan of the word or title:
'race card'
.
If a person speaks about issues of Race Relations then they are seen by others as using the 'race card'..?
Hence my use of the 'Titanic' example in my previous post. How can we improve society if we cannot talk about it..?
Race is just a little section of this...not the total.
From,
Wunderhorse.
All depends on your definition of a racist.

1. I am not your 'dearest' and would prefer you to call me by my username only.
2. I agree with Mal - you're scaremongering.
3. You regularly bring race into your posts/threads in a way that would be offensive if a white person did it about their own colour.
4. I'm not going to debate with you, the rights and wrongs of Data Protection - if I disagree with you, I will undoubtedly be incorrect and have been influenced by some media that does not influence you.

..i didn't actually think that his point on race was that far off. but just my opinion biggrin

Well at least a member doesn't think that am playing...
the 'race card'.
It's all viewpoints no one can say that am wrong in bringing up these issues.
Also have you read the many links I've put on my second extensive post within this thread these support my various views on this subject?
From,
Wunderhorse.
Back on topic, I don't think it is scaremongering, I don't trust this goverment with any information, they have a terrible habit of losing it!

Erm...am sorry if that has upset you.
I'll never call you that again. I am really sorry again if by me doing that it has upset you or made you angry.
I never want to get anyone Member upset in this my community. Please accept this as my apology.

Wunderhorse does .
Of course race is an issue and racial abuse happens but to bring the subject up everytime you post does tend to lead others to possibly the wrong conclusions.

Dearest flower411,
You now have the luckly task of going through over 400 posts that I have made since being a member of this community.
I would myself like to know how many times I have mentioned the 'race card'. As you believe I do this everytime I post or create a thread...
Erm...you've got a lot of evidence too collect.
Good luck & enjoy.
From,
Wunderhorse.
Congratulations Flower.......You have now taken FB's place as Wunders dearest :lol2:
God I really hope the evidence isn't collected and posted. How shit would that be. If there is a breaking of AUP then i'm sure that a topic or post would get dealt with immediately. But no the issue has turned from a possibly interesting thread to one in which the Topic instigator is on a loser come what may. I don't see any offensive behaviour taking place by the the original poster. What i do see is a unnecessary, unwelcoming stuff outside of the thread topic coming to pass. Get a grip.
On topic. I feel the posts which highlight the necessity for the Law and the courts to oversee what goes is the right way to go. I can see how a database/list of the sort described could be abused possibly. Lets remain using the principles of innocent until proven otherwise as the basis for. most of the time, good sense. not guilty through suspicion. How crap is that.

I dont think anyone said there had been anything posted that was offensive or against the AUP just that a certain thing was prevolant in most/all of his posts/topics dunno
OK so Wunderhorse has a thing about race and a somewhat florid posting style. Lets not ignore the main issue; a register is being launched where a one-sided view about people's character is made available to employers. This can include personal details like NI number, addresses, telephone numbers and photographs, and those listed will not know they have been included.
As there is no public access to this register, the only way to find out if you are on it is to write to the 'data controller' with sufficient detail to ensure that you are identifiable as a person entitled to ask. If you are listed, the only way to know what data is held is to pay for it. To me and I hope to any fair-minded person, that is unjust.
