I've read some utter bollocks in my time, but the two quotes below really take the fucking biscuit.

I don't think the site is full of sexual deviants, its full of people who are just more honest and open about sex. The bit about it ending up in print does make you realise you never know who you're talking to unless you've met them in person. I'd like to think every one on here is honest about their reasons for being here, but maybe that's me being a little naive.

I was going to lock it just because it had been done so many times before and there is plenty of info on the site about it!! Martin has explained his reason for locking it and that is the end of that!!

I understand Martin wanting to make members aware of press interest, but if we started locking threads for that reason, I think the hot bods, bums, tits etc would be top of the list.
At the end of the day a lot of people are open about there swinging - 2 site members took part in the wife swap program.
Personally if we have a discussion in here about any sexual practices and the press quote it so what? as long as it's in here and my real life Identity is protected that's fine by me.
Again thanks to Martin for be open and warning members about the press interest, but I do think locking the thread is a bit over zealous

It's a pretty safe bet that the recent law changes regarding accessibility to pornography on the internet is behind the new guidelines about posting pictures on the forum. The safest way to avoid being caught out is to not post pornographic pictures where minors can see them in the first place. Don't know how that relates to the written word though ........ it would go against the issue of free speech so I wouldn't think it would be a problem.
The locking of the thread about 'wank clubs' seems a bit strange though. The media has been an ever present lurker on here for a good couple of years and they're usually given very short shrift when they ask for 'help' with programmes, interviews or quotes. They're mostly edited into sensationalism and titillation no matter how they dress it up.
Giving fair warning that these people are showing a particular interest in a subject is valid but yes this is an adult side and the warning should be enough. Surely we're all big enough to watch for the pitfalls given the right information?
Locking the thread is a mistake methinks.

Your right dammie, tis an adult site, but that doesn't mean that every corner of it has to reflect that fact does it dunno

I have no thoughts on the first qoute you made, couldn't give a monkeys about loseing a thread about wank clubs regardless of the reasons, just a personal thing you understand, just not my cup of tea, but I do have opinion on the type of pictures posted on the forum which was your other point and again it is a personnel opinion.
I and I suspect a lot of others, use the site on a P.C. that is in view of the general traffic of the house, they pass by at a distance where reading isnt possible, but where they could definately see a decent size picture, not a lot I can do about that, just the way it is. If anyone comes too close then I minimise it, have my chat with them and when all is done and they have buggered off to do something else, I get back to it. Now if there are threads with pictures that have pictures of a more adult nature than the avatars, I would have to be even more guarded in my use, when in my opinion there really shouldn't be a need, I just don't see the need to wack up more explicit pictures on the forums, there's a heap of other corners on the site where they can be viewed till you go dizzy.
My second reason for being in the 'keep em to the avatar guide' camp is that once you get rockin and rollin on more explicit pictures, I can almost garauntee that some will find every reason they can to post them, even if the connection with the thread they are plonking them in, is a tad wafty, there will be folk that see it as an oppurtunity, great if you wanna see them and real boring if like me you just think....ohhh FFS.
There have been the odd thread in my time where a tadger or a twinkie has been seen and has been in context with the spirit of the thread, there have also been some (the bukkake one springs to mind) that whilst being in context, have made me cringe and isnt something that I want sprung on me, adult site or not, now if I thought I was some kind of isolated prude on here I wouldn't bother, but I don't think that I'm the only one who doesn't want to see it, nor that thinks that it really isn't necessary.

Yes - they have the watershed.
We have the registration process and "over 18" declaration.
I have no problem with the site being a commercial venture for 4T.
My problem lies with the apparent "sanitation" of SH.

Right my two cents worth for what its worth, I couldn't give a fook about a wank club thread being locked and I apreciate peoples views on the policies of what threads should be allowed to show. But i've reread the locked thread a couple of times and if you take the context in why it was locked then read the first post in the thread it appears to be a loaded question so to speak !! Makes one wonder why all this apparent interest from tv stations.
It surely couldnt be, that SH has become so filthy that the news hounds have got wimd of us.
When you have a chatroom full of perverts and quick shag artists, and the word gets out, is it really so surprising.
As for the forums, there should be better security as to who can see the material in here.
Also, the pornographic nature of some pictures in here will inevitably bring attention from the less ethically sound of our media.
Yes its a free country, but, maybe we should ask ourselves, do we really need some of the pictures on here, and, while we are at it, some of the names on here.
Adult site yes, why not, and all that goes with it? But do we really need a sewer to visit in our spare time.

Ever since I joined SH the press have come up in conversastion at least once every couple of months, in some thread or another.
It's always a little worrying when the press or media decide to drag up anything swinging related as to be honest I wouldn't want my name brought up anywhere but that is the risk each of us takes. You get used to it more and more each time the subject is brought up.
In my opinion there should be no risk but then that is another story about the press/media entirely!

If you look at the topic creator post history of the said thread, i myself think he does seem to ask a lot of questions, i don't know if he is just new to all this and looking for information or otherwise but i can see why the thread was locked.
Pictures ( not avatars ) that are posted on the forums can be seen without logging in as i have tried.
Even though this is an adult site with all the appropriate warnings, underage people could still wonder on to the site so i think its better to not be to strong with pictures on forums just to protect them, I know there is lots of other sites they could view them but why add to them?
Just my thoughts
