Not many people know who their local MP is.. and more often and not their voting intentions have nothing to do with who it is. They hope that they will vote with the party line.

That is because of the mass use of different colours, rounded boxs and heavy use of borders.
These are things which you will soon get used to. I think speed, else of use, functionality will be the real test..

There is loads of colour, a lot of space around things. The site is cleaner, but all the colour is a bit distacting. But I suppose it is one of those things that you get used to. I need to use it a lot more to see if it is more functional...
I can say though, no one can say that you have not made many changes.. lol

Personalities of the leaderships of a party are important to a point. These days when people are famous for being famous, the do not have to be the best singer, actor, football or leader to be the favouriate in the publics eyes.
BUT .. it not the only reason people vote for them, I mean would the BNP be in government now if Tony Blair had been the leader. I do not think so.. Would the Libs be in power if they had Gary Linker in charge.. ?

I do not think it is anything generic with the forum software ther are using. I think it has been adding into the replacement table manually by some admin on the site.
Maybe using as a quick fix to solve a problem.. maybe to hide the name in all posts quickly

Would it not just become usless and inaccurate if only a small percentage of people use it? Only people that agree to have there information on it will be searchable, so you would be filtering out all the people that have not agreed from your search.

I mean your map might show 100 people in your area, but does not say what their interests are, what they look like, who they are hoping to met etc. Are you saying that you are only intestested in meeting people that are under 10 miles away and are on the number 27 bus route for example?
I find it best to get to know people and them to know me. See if we click and then worry about bus routes, hotels etc after.
Maps are to help people get from A to B. They are of interested when you want to find generic things like shops, pubs, resturants, cash machines, toilets.

Swinging to most is a private matter.
They use the site to make contacts and for generally chit chat. They do not want to feel a part of a big group..
Making a swinging map is a bit like showing where the local pubs or corner shops are. It sort of degrades the who scene
