You quoted the main question of the original post and responded with
.I'm sorry but until you feel that emotion I can't see how you can actually add anything to this......

To me that reads as though you are saying there is nothing valid to discuss unless you can back it up with a similar circumstance to yours.
If I'm wrong, I'm sorry, but that's what it reads like.

Hate: A feeling of dislike so strong that it demands action.
Irritant: A substance that produces an irritation effect when it contacts skin, eyes, nose, or respiratory system.
Do you have trouble breathing whilst reading the forum? Do you bash your nose on your monitor? :dunno:
-------------------------
Ok ok I'll stop it with the stupid stuff. (In this thread anyway.)
I think hate is too strong a word - for me anyway. If I hated something I wouldn't go near it.
Damn neither confused , it's probably just annoyances then. TUT & PAH
Am I winning the pretentious couple/cliquey twat contest yet by the way?

If someone you loved was in immediate danger of death from a stranger, and you could only save them by killing the stranger?'

i surpose yes I would agree with everyone in this thread that have said they would do it.......
the question I think really is whether you could actually act it out in real life..........its all well and good firing off emotions saying that you could do it........but seriously until you know the full details of a situation there is no way you can tell.......
I nearly killed my ex once and whilst I would have probably got away with it ........luckily someone else intervened.........I'm sorry but until you feel that emotion I can't see how you can actually add anything to this......
And just because everyone hasn't explained in detail why they have the response they have you assume it makes them invalid?

To get slightly back on topic I have a load of forum hates, far too many to list, BUT they're also part of the reason I use forums, because they often open up discussions.
They also give me something to vent at and something to laugh at or take the piss out if I'm in that frame of mood.
So does that make them hates or just irritants dunno

Well I tried starting an evening group of my own, but some members got a little miffed when they discovered that I'd only invited other females and suggested we should all go nude.

See, you're just cliquey rolleyes lol

The claim that there is a clique implies that there is some sort of conspiracy - a group that 'meets privately on Tuesday nights to plot the downfall of those who are not worthy' - I think not! Forums just ain't like that.

We have our plotting meets on a Wednesday.
F*ckity b*ll*cks!
Now I realise where I was going wrong, I always attend the meeting at the village hall on a Thursaday!
I thought it a little odd that us SH members should be doing line-dancing instead of errr.... plotting!
Bloody newbies............ don't know their arse from their days of the week :P
Now you see when you didn't attend, I just thought you all had started your own up. bolt
For the purpose of this discussion, and to ensure full cliquey pretentiousness, anyone who joined after me is a newbie :P :P :P

Sorry Choon lol
I've seen this so many times and as Davej said it's an eternally evolving thing.
The accusation tends to get levelled at prolific posters and those who are socialising a lot in one form or another at that particular time in forum history.
These people change regularly in the main, and the accusations still get made by those who judge themselves to be on the outskirts of it all, and guess what, they've normally changed as well rolleyes

We put pics of Timmy up, but when we're actively looking there will be more pics of me, as it's often single males we are looking for.
I'd do the same I think for a bi woman ad as well.
If we were going to advertise for a couple I'd make sure they were equal, I think, but we haven't done it, so I can't be sure. It would depend on the success we had with that format I suppose.

Jas its not socials its private parties that are the issue here, well at least thats what i hoped the issue would be,

I'd stick with the same reply for parties Staggy, I just lumped them all under social rather than cover every hypothetical that is flying around.
Would you expect the site to do something if any guests behaved innappropriately?
Many used to, I just don't know if that is still the case, and perhaps it's a change in expectation/feeling from members, and that is why the subject gets so heated. dunno
Jas

Do people who are hosting Socials expect this site to take action if someone causes them a problem?
If they do then the rule is relevant.
If they don't then maybe it's time for a rethink or a debate, without people being deliberatly obtuse during the debate.
I thought the rule was pretty clear, but would it be clearer if it said, "you can't advertise if you are going to knowingly invite banned members.
I don't for one minute think the Mods would ban members for having been duped or tricked by unscrupulous people, who have also tricked the site by returning with a new user name.
It would be pretty obvious if people were bending the rule pretending they had no knowledge as the gossip mill would ensure it got back. lol
Jas

Do internet user names come under the DPA dunno because that is all they ever ask to see. Nothing more and they already have access to them so I can't see where data protection comes in.
I was under the impression that the rule was, you couldn't advertise an event that would have a banned member attending, and that you would be prepared to confirm that none were attending or remove the ad if questions were raised about it.
My personal opinion, it depends. (Sit on that fence girl) lol
In the past many social organisers expected the site to take action if someone misbehaved at an event, if that is still the case, I can understand the rule as to why they don't want events with banned members at them advertised here.
If I was organising an event I'd be unhappy about the rule as I have friends in different places; banned in various directions; and so I would want to advertise in more than one place. That would make me a rule breaker, but only here though.

I can understand all the concerns about this and I agree with them in theory, but in principle not at all.
I'm always concerned when people start to ban books or make them inaccessible to people as I truly believe that once you do it for one category, it won't be long before others are included and then where does it stop?
