on a slightly more serious note ...............
It does depend on the mood and / or occasion.
Usual rule of thumb is:
Lager ............. NO umummm absolutely not, chemical poison as far as I’m concerned and tastes like it too. (It's not called wifebeater for nothing)
Beer ............. not the IPA's, all seem like making love on a raft to me.
Real ALE ................ Like Neil, I love em, not all, but some, to me a proper ALE has to be dark, thick, strong and possess no tannins whatsoever, the sweeter the better. mmmmm gimme 'dunkelbeer' :lol2:
Wine................ unfortunately I like red wine, I say unfortunately because i like sweet wines, finding a sweet red that’s affordable to the extent of 3 or 4 bottles a night has so far proven fruitless
Whiskey.............. I used to drink blended whiskeys, but we fell out, big style, don't get me wrong, i love em, they just don't like me.
Vodka ............. the cheaper the better, i find the expensive stuff sends me for a loop, i do crazy shit and remember nowt about it in the morning :scared: where as the cheapo battery acid / antifreeze stuff just gets me pleasantly pished lol
ok, so its usually the cheapo vodka I stick to when I'm socialising party wise, on the other hand, if I'm sat in front of a blazing log fire having a philosophical discussion with a good mate, then I prefer a bottle of Glenmorangie. if it's one of those rare Sunday afternoons where you’ve just had a sparking Sunday roast accompanied by your favourite wine, you are privileged by good company, then there really is nothing nicer than to retire with a bottle (or two) of good vintage Port, Again, being of the 'savoury food and sweet drink' persuasion, I couldn’t be doing with a Tawny, would have to be a Ruby.
So, does the above make me a drink snob?
I'm not sure, dunno you decide wink
Make my food savoury, my drink sweet and my women hot :lol2:

I dont often post in the forums, but will add my views on recent changes. I have not liked all the changes made, but understand that at the end of the day SH is no different to any other business, it has to move forward and try and cater for as many as possible. Like any buisness its the MAJORITY not the minority that will always fair better. At least you have this option to say what you would like, there are hundreds of sites out there where you do not and just have to put up with what ever the site owners want to do.
I for one feel that in no way does the new changes make it more of a vouyer site, in fact i think its done the total opposite. Vouyers and pic collectors are not going to bother with a few thumb nail pics that they find when they can search the net and find VERY much more revealing pictures
We have all at some stage in our time on here come across those who we lable as “Time wasters” if we have not im sure that we know someone who has come across them. The recent changes, to me make that even less of an oppertunity for these types now, as they have to put more effort into their time wasting. We all moan about those who never bother to read a profile.
Now to me those who are more serious about meeting and not time wasting are more likely to take that time, and also send invites out to private gallerys. I for one have found this and get many invites to view peoples private pictures. Even when i clearly state on my profile i am not meeting at the moment.
Those that have not bothered to read my profile do not get a reply, because i have put some effort into making my profile work for me, i have filled out and given details that are relevent to suit me, but what i tend to get is, “I know your not meeting at this time, but if that changes then i would be intrested in meeting you”
With what we are able to do on the internet today, it is possible to make all the changes work for each individual profile. Like a little more thought on changing or altering pics BEFORE uploading them. In fact just more effort by anyone will make the site and the changes work for them.
When i go into the chatrooms, we now have the option to turn of whispers if we want to. To be honest i cant believe that this had to be implimented, as i for one feel im in total control when im in the chatroom, and if i want to whisper i will, if not i dont, those that whisper me will be ignored if i so wish to do so, especially if they have not asked to whisper. Ignore them they soon give up, give them a reaction they will persist in doing it. BE IN CONTROL and at the end of the day, to be honest, if all else fails you have an ON/OFF button.
This is just my views, and regardless of status on here, i use the site as I WANT i make the EFFORT to have any changes work for me and will carry on doing so with any future changes that will be made.

Well hello folks, here I am thinking of totally random things biggrin
I did start a thread yonks ago about random questions, Im sure I did, but Im a diddly to even think about looking for it.
Im stop twittering and ask my question:
U know alcohol makes u drunk, but what is it that alcohol contains, which soft drinks dont contain? Like the actual property?
If anyone has any other random questions aswered, feel free to add to this thread xxx
But what is it that actually makes u drunk?
Miss Cream xxx

GOD I LOVE THIS SITE.. :lol2:
so many valid points on the face of it, until you stop and have a little think......
Martin..... you soooo need a slap lol
St3v3 ...... what can I say lol (oh n thanks btw)
Guys.... the site is great, I was a little perturbed by my eldest phoning me and asking ..... DAAAAAD, how could you? ...... but then a quick reply of "and you were there because?????" soon put a stop to that lol
All seems well in the world of SH to me. OK so the Towers got shortened, and there’s been loads of changes, I can see that more than most having been away for so long and so often, but you know what? I’ve never failed to find “my fave parts of the site” even when I was so confused I could hardly remember my name.
I guess what I’m saying is that it’s easy to get a little bit anal about the ‘Cyber / interactive’ part of the site, and forget the fact that it’s People who populate it??
Dunno it may be that my SOH has become more warped, or I’m just in a daft mood but to be honest, I love how we all take ourselves soooo seriously :lol2:
I guess I should add IMHO these days dunno
FFS **** ** or join a boy scout site rolleyes
Sorry but look, you're a swinger, if you're not, wtf are you here??
This is a swinging site, if you have posted 'dodgy' pics, then you have done that for someone's titillation, or to attract other swingers. There really is NO other reason. No honestly, there isn't. <<Shakes head>>
I've been on this site for a little while, on and off, and i'm beginning to get the idea that some folk would prefer to use it as a badge rather than what its meant for.................... not getting into that but sex really really does come into the equation :lol2:
I’m sorry, I may well have misread the OP and some of the replies but to be honest, its way past the time to be precious ppl xxxx
That said, if you happen to have a couple or three Mill to spare let me know, I’ve the perfect place in mind to start “THE EXCLUSIVE” swing club
Mmm didn’t think so, oh well, guess we’ll have to do with here then lol
Well.....
not wishing to fuel any disagreements about beer and <bleh>lager, or ...<bleh>blended n single whiskeys, i could have contributed to this thread, however, having taken an hour or more to realise that a really kind and friendly person off this site decided to switch my voddy for water? who am I to have an opinion?
evil
He who laughs last ................. :lol2:
Wishing you all the best in the world xxxxx (translation ...... hope one of your spells backfires and blows your ass off) surprisedD

Oh and spell checkers don't always help. For instance, eth is a real word. It is an Anlgo-Saxon letter for the 'th' sound in 'bath'.

:lol2:
Oh My F*****g God
I have read some bollox in my life but this thread really does take the biscuit.
FFS people can we all just get real a minute here?
OK OK who the fk am I to make such a statement? Ok I’ll tell you.
For one, I’m the father of three sons, all grown up now.
For two, I have worked as a tutor in a “last chance hotel” non Council run children’s home for young offenders, I’m an ex Prison Officer, and used to be a youth supervisor in the probation service.
For three, I have been whiteness to all kinds of so called ‘disorders’ and have had to deal with them face on. ( I hasten to add, that I myself have been diagnosed with ‘disorders’ so please don’t misunderstand my stance here).
OK enough of the self justification, just seems like this thread requires it.
In my working and private life I have encountered almost every form of misbehaviour you could possibly imagine. From the mischievous right down to the criminal insane. I can quite honestly put my hand to my heart and say that in at least 90% of the cases I have had to deal with, the lack of ‘proper’ parental control has been the major contributory factor, no question.
Now, before you all go off half cocked, no I do not blame most of the parents, parents these days are under so many constraints I’m actually surprised that anyone still wants to be a mum or a dad. I actually found many many cases where the kids sneered at any parental control with the threat “touch me and I’ll have you arrested”
Bollox, beat the little bastards within an inch of their lives I say, see how quickly all these imaginary ‘syndromes’ disappear and we get back to a civilised society. Children need boundaries, they need praise when they have done well, and they need punishment when they have done wrong. To me as a front line worker it has been proven time and time again that the “all carrot and no stick” system simply does not work with some kids, they can be wilful little fuckers with no respect for anything but the rod, historically that has always been the way and in my opinion, always will be.
Now before you all go running off to your nearest CPA here, let me reiterate that I’m talking about the worst offenders here, not your run of the mill normal child, having said all I have, as a father of three sons, all of whom have had their fair share of problems, they have all grown up into respectable and valued members of society, I have to say that I have only ever needed to raise my hand twice in 30 years so please don’t think I’m some Victorian in favour of child abuse.
Yes, there is bad parenting, bad parenting (imo) is not setting boundaries, not giving out deserved praises or punishments, not giving your child borders or rules to live by. It’s laziness in the extreme and deserves punishment for the parent in itself. For some parents, fighting the tantrums, dealing out the punishment when its required is just too much to be bothered with. Well if that’s the case, don’t be a f*****g parent. rolleyes
It brings responsibilities to your kids, and to society that maybe you are just not strong enough to handle? No shame in that, some can, some can’t. The shame comes in having them anyway and expecting society to pick up the pieces just because you are not strong enough to handle the justice part yourself.
Whenever you read crap like this in the papers, have a good look in the mirror and ask yourself, “Did I really get it right? Or was I just a little shit who passed my hatred for authority on to my kids?”
My god the 60’s 70’s generation still have so much to answer for.
bolt now where did I put that old helmet :bolt:
As an aside, has anyone else noticed how dificult it's becoming to retain an 'unregisered' phone, even on PAYG?
I tried to top up my phone today using my debit card and was told that my card registration has expired and could not be re-instated until i registered my phone giving full name / address and bank details
Yet another subtlelty of the BB state? dunno
i do wonder where it's all going to end confused
now mine wont??
how's a guy supposed to reply to replies to a thread you've replied to confused
I may have said it before, but I still think life would be easier for zero memory retention people like myself if a thread contributed to, is automatically set to 'watched' rather than depend on that ‘zero memory’ to ‘remember’ to click the ‘watch this thread’ button :?
What was I talking about? Oh yeah that was it …….. Join the SHWTTC ………
rolleyes it really is time I got some sleep ……………. I bet I forget to press the WTT button dunno
From the here and now ...... the entire house of lords during another endless debate rolleyes
From the past ....... Churchill giving the 'fight them on the beaches' address :lol2:
nice one Losty, looking forward to the replies to this one.

Interesting thread this.
I think for me it would have to be Adagio for Strings. Theres a link here though i would ignore the graphics, just listen to the sounds for this one, couldnt really think of anything better to drift into oblivion with kiss
Not wishing to be controversial here, so the following is purely my thoughts based on the little I remember from that time and just personal opinion.
Like quite a few others it seems, I was never a huge fan even in his hay day, in fact I never really appreciated his talent until my kids got into his music, I do remember many a party that was dieing on its feet until someone put a MJ track on, in my younger days as an amateur DJ, I could always guarantee to liven things up with a track or two of his.
I also recall watching a couple of televised concerts and seeing thousands upon thousands of people in utter joyful celebration of music.
Now to me, anyone who can bring so much joy, entertainment and good times to so so many people, at the very least deserves a little respect.
Judging by the things I vaguely recall from reports in the media from years back, he was a child that was used, abused, unloved, mistreated and misunderstood from a very early age dunno how much truth there is in that, who knows.
As for the other stuff, all I can remember about all that, and I have to bear in mind that I didn’t follow it that closely, is that he was never convicted of anything, nothing was ever proven and any evidence brought before the courts was scant to say the least.
If I was asked to delve into the realms of conjecture I would say the following. As far as I could see, despite his millions, despite his success, he seemed to me to be a very naive, very vulnerable, and very lonely human being. If he was a rich English gent, he would have been slotted into the eccentric pigeon hole and welcomed at the WI every Sunday. If he were a poor English bloke, he would have been classed as vulnerable with special needs and if lucky, sheltered care in the community found for him.
The fact is he was a stinking rich American and because of his vulnerability wide open to all kinds of accusations and every chancer that managed to wangle their way into his affections. Now I’m sure there are plenty out there who followed his story and subsequent court appearances much more closely than I ever did but I am a great believer in ’innocent until proven guilty ‘ so unless I was there, or have some magical ability to see the truth where no one else could find it, then I have no more right to condemn another person than they have to condemn me.
I guess unless you’ve ever been accused of something you didn’t do, that may be a difficult line to follow :dunno: but I for one will not be judge, jury and executioner, the guy is about to meet his maker, I’m sure he’ll get his just deserts, whatever they are.
In the mean time R.I.P. to a guy who brought joy to millions.

I'm not overly familar with F-stop capabilities on stills cameras as i'm more of a TV camera geek. At F2.8 i'd probably be dropping a bit of gain onto a TV cam (and going 'grrrrrrr' as i know i'll have noise artifacts) or looking for a big fekin light to switch on.

Not to familiar with movie cameras, but F2.8 on a still camera is very fast, with a very wide open aperture, meaning less light is required, and almost no noise on the shot. lol
 that’s what I needed to know wink
A friend of mine just lent me a 'Bridge' camera with a 7x optical zoom and that is woefully inadequate for what I would like to do so am now almost sure I'm going to go far a 20x with at least f2.8 capability.
Any lack of range after that will have to be compensated for with honing back the old stalking skills, which when I think about it was part of the exercise anyway loon
