If you have just registered I'd like to say...
Hello and welcome to SH!
This is purely to save me typing my usual welcome message - lazy I know, but I had a look at the memberlist and, goodness, aren't there a lot of you?
It must feel a little strange at first, like walking into a club full of regulars. It's easy to become a regular though; post on threads and remember humour, politeness and respect - easy as that!
You may find, in the light of recent events, that some of us are a little wary of new members. However, if you get to know us, and let us get to know you, you'll be a member of the SH family in no time at all. Any problems or issues, contact one of our glorious Moderators although any of the regulars will be pleased to hand out advice and opinions on request!
Have fun in the forum!

PS: Are you still a Guest? Why not come out of the shadows and talk to us? A nicer, saner, more grounded and humorous group of personalities you could ever wish to meet.
How right you are ccr - Fred's bread is gorgeous. His five-seed brown loaf was so delicious I made a meal of it with just fresh butter for accompaniament. Divine!

It's Day Two of being smoke free. The daylight hours weren't too bad, I was finding things to do - not least of which was the forum. (Never a journalist around when you want to kick one.) Will has been fantastic in his support - his rewards and incentive scheme did make me smile. And yes, he invoked clause 8; handmade chocolates were delivered at 11am.
This evening has been more difficult. I've been prowling around, starting to do things, losing concentration and generally feeling agitated. I'm also feeling rough still, tight chested and the cough is not improving. I'm feeling quite disgusted with the state of my health at the moment - and naturally it isn't helping my mood!
Poor BlueEyes - from the single line of your post above I know you're not happy with having smoked today. Frankly, I don't blame you in the least. If someone had offered me one tonight I'd have bitten their hand off and nicked their lighter.
Kit and I are there right with you, honey. Everyday is Day One.

Guess who just had an email from Kate the freelance too? KitKat I have forwarded you a copy of my answer.

Okay, it's nearing the end of Day One. The official Day One that is. I think it should have been yesterday.
For about a week I've had it hanging over me that I was going to give up smoking on a certain day. I may not have said how much I really didn't want to, but I guess it has been implied.
Because I've been ill for the past couple of days (nothing serious, just a bad cold), I know I'm a bit run down generally, so Will was recalled from Banishment in Berkshire to undertake a mercy mission. He did his duty with zeal and returned to the South leaving a tidy kitchen and the washing up done and dusted. About 4pm I started getting an asthma attack. The attack lasted until 11pm by which time I was exhausted and weak. The inhalers didn't work. I hadn't had an attack in at least 12 months, and never on that scale.
No, I didn't smoke after it. This morning I got up, sore with muscle tension and restricted breathing, to find the sun shining on my first official day as a non-smoker. The car was frosted up and I'd lost the ice scraper; my daughter found she'd forgotten her games kit on the way to school, so we went back for it; and my neighbour made me jump out of my skin and nearly set off another attack! I've also spent roughly the same amount of money on 96 Nicotinell lozenges as I would have done on 100 cigarettes - what a bum deal! Normally, getting back to the safety of my study, I'd have a coffee and fag and check out the forum. Had run out of coffee, had no cigarettes - and the f**king internet was on a go-slow and wouldn't let me see the forum!
I thought I might look for a new job - hatchetperson in non-smoking enviroment.
It isn't all doom and gloom. The sun did shine today, I had coffee with friends on the PA after the school run, my daughter earned a credit at school, Will was thinking about me and calling me, and there were PMs from BlueEyes, Sgt Bilko, Will and Carpathian. One smoke-free day. It had its moments, it had its lows.
When I look back on it and put it into that kind of perspective, I realise what a bloody normal day it was - except I didn't smoke.

Corrie,
You have just reminded me that I never went back for the lingerie I was choosing when that fire alarm went off.
I'm off to Shrewsbury tomorrow!

Hello Byron and welcome to SH!
I see you've met the Sarge - I hope he was gentle when he frisked you? Come on in and enjoy! You didn't have anything else planned to do with your life did you - this place tends to draw people in and keep them!

Seconded. Motion carried.
Well done you two - much happiness and sexual shenanigans to you both!

And a welcome to SH from me too, Gavin!
Now are you really prepared for this? Have you thought long and hard about exposing yourself to humour, banter, laughter, getting pissed in the GFZ and being frisked by Sgt Bilko?
You have? In which case... Have fun in the forum!

Hi Oxford_Couple and welcome to SH!
An experience of mine might help you. I had an ad on another site last year looking for couples. I was answered by a lovely couple in the same county. It was their first foray into swinging and they wanted to explore A's bi-curiosity. After the exchange of emails and photos we agreed to meet up for an initial drink to see if the chemistry was right.
We had a lovely evening with a bottle of wine and got on very well. The chat was kept quite neutral, but it ended with them inviting me to their home on another occasion. Having met them I was happy to do this and spent a wonderful night with them both. We met a second time after that and have remained in contact.
All I would suggest is that you take it slowly, be absolutely sure that this is something you want to do, and have a vanilla meet first in a pub. You can then decide between you how you wish to proceed.
All the very best of luck - and have fun!

Am I interested, Hercules?
Well, I had a look at your ad. Not bad; it's to the point, you say what you're looking for and it's legible. I didn't care for the cock shot, though your torso is attractive - but that's a very personal opinion and not meant as a criticism.
I did however find the tone of your ad rather peremptory. You're asking for the favour of a lady's company, not doing her one by offering sex for the evening.
So, am I interested? Actually, on reflection, no I'm not. But then, I am very selective, making my choices based on personality rather than looks or age, and I'm afraid you do not match the criteria I would consider in a sexual partner.
I do however wish you luck.

Jaine,
It has to be Venice for me. I've been three times and I love it. Don't ever go in July and August though, it's hell!
The last time I went was at the end of January. It was just after the Carnivale and St Mark's Square was strewn with confetti from the revels. It was very cold, but every morning after the mist had cleared the sky was a brilliant piercing blue and the sun shone on St Giorgio Maggiore making it sparkle.
Most of the time the piazzas were deserted and it was the perfect time to explore the narrow streets where I'd come across superb Renaissance plaques set at the end of narrow alleyways, tiny shops full of masks and art works, and then I found the pasta market. Piles of fresh pasta in every colour from natural to black, in every shape imaginable.
The restaurants were half empty, and the customers were Venetians enjoying seafood and wine. In the afternoons it was so pleasant sitting in the hazy sunshine, well wrapped, watching the world go by with a cappuchino. The vaporettos only get crowded first thing in the morning and were so cheap it was worth riding up and down the Grand Canale marvelling at the faded beauty that is Venice. Sadly a number of the museums were closed, but the churches hold the greatest artworks and are always open.
Try Venice in the early Spring, it's marvellous.
