Thank you for that Fred on behalf of all of us. 
I have to admit that the thought of giving up scares me witless, as I have said to others privately. The rational part of me is saying I don't need this dependence. The larger and irrational part of me is saying don't take away my blue blanket!
I feel quite panicky at the thought of not having cigarettes in my handbag, not necessarily to smoke, but just to know they are there. I know everytime I leave the supermarket from now on I'm going to think I've forgotten something because I didn't take a trip to the tobacco kiosk. Most of all perhaps I dread inactive times such as waiting for a train or sitting in traffic jams. If not those then social occasions with a drink in my hand.
I'm going to have to change ingrained habits - particularly when I'm at my PC. It could mean earlier bedtimes because I don't smoke in my bedroom. I may find I watch TV for a change because I don't smoke in the living room.
There are positives to all this and I'll keep them in mind. With the money I'll save I'll indulge my passion for lingerie! Me and my environment will be healthier and I can stave off the aging process a little longer. Above all, I won't be disapproved of anymore!
So, onwards and upwards. I apologise in advance to anyone I may offend whilst going through withdrawal; nice Sappho may be replaced by Sappho Bitch-Queen of Hell, but I'll try and keep a lid on it!

Moist, a belated welcome from me too. This really is the place to be - but it can be horribly addictive! I popped in for five minutes back in November and I haven't found the exit yet! That's probably to do with the fact that there are some seriously gorgeous people here.

Misschief, girls are so scary! My 11 year old looks 15 without even trying, she's a nu metal rock chick with the attitude of a 20 year old. She has a tough time bringing me up, I'm such a handful!

Swinging isn't just sexual liaisons to many, as witness the Cafe. Real friendships are forged here and there is a lot of socialising. However, like any social activity, it has to be worked at by joining in and getting to know people.
Not everyone wants to forge relationships as a swinger. (I use that term in the sense of social interaction and acquaintance as opposed to romance and monogamous commitment.) Those who prefer not to get to know people socially will happily swing with strangers at one off meets, at clubs and through dogging. Others prefer to keep their friendships and sexual partners separate entirely. Some will only swing with people they have got to know and like and respect. I am one of the latter.
Surely you get out of swinging what you put into it? In the case of the single male, purely because they tend to out number single women by four to one, I would suggest they are more likely to meet women and couples by becoming known through a medium like the forum or the chatroom.

DJohn, that is such an honest post. As I read it through I found myself agreeing and responding to everything you wrote.
Whatever our reasons for coming on to the site or in conducting our lives, we are all looking for a degree of happiness, whether sexually, socially or even emotionally. Quite often I believe we don't admit or even know what it is we are looking for except on a very superficial level. We can even deny certain desires and needs. It's when we find the depth of camaraderie and support here, even love, that we are forced to realise what it is we appreciate and desire in ourselves and others. Thank you for bringing that home to me.
