Thing is - will Jags let her have a pick over the pieces once she has finished with you?

So long as he can continue to play his organ, Fred. That's all that counts.
Sappho - who has now given up all hope.
Sappho adopts best Emma Thompson frown and earnest delivery
Dear Friends,
I feel I should say a word in defence of poor Will. I know you must be questioning his sanity at the present time and you would be right. He's been under a terrible strain recently, and the long miles between Berkshire and Shropshire have taken their toll. Frankly, it's the sex - it's just gone to his head.
Therefore I plead your indulgence, and in particular that of our Scots cousins. If needs be I will prostrate myself before you in his defence and you will have to get to him through me. Please form an orderly queue.
Yours,
Sappho xxx
PS: Don't worry, he's in safe hands, a quill-embroidered strait-jacket is being prepared by my own fair hands.
I have to agree with Misschief, Gman. I love the Sarge's humour and he doesn't offend me in the slightest. I though his rejoinder to Demi's request to 'talk dirty' was hilarious!

:therethere: Have a drink Jags, it'll calm you down. Bombay Sapphire?

My mouse had sticky balls!
Could someone technically minded please inform this elegant technophobe how to get the mouse's balls back in sync. Instructions in single syllables would be much appreciated. rolleyes
Also, how do I defrag, is it necessary and is it a painful procedure?
Thank you in advance!

Will, are you scrapping again? For God's sake, have a drink!
Sappho hands Will a large goblet of Penfold's Rawson's Retreat. Now give me the rapier, dear.
Mmm, drinkies! Good idea. Would love a Pimms or a Campari, please. Plenty of ice.
Now somebody very close to my heart recently introduced to me gin and tonic - very refreshing at a hot munch. For sipping late at night, a Glayva or a Benedictine. With dinner, the wine is dictated by the meal but Australian for preference every time - Wolf Blass, Penfold's, Jacob's Creek).
Please no vodka - not after getting pie-eyed in a thread run by Fred. I'm still grateful to Artificer for rescuing me.

Because it's much more fun in the forum, darling!
Nice to see you back among us Richo, you elusive thing, you! Now leave the horrid exams and come and play with your old childhood buddy. We can get all nostalgic and chummy and play the do you remember when game!
Lots of love Sappho xxx
There's a phrase hovering on the tip of my tongue, something to do with petards, but I'll leave it there.
Thank you Gord for reminding us how much we owe to the Scottish nation, particularly when considering the communications track record of English management on a daily basis.

Disclaimer : If there is anyone out there who I haven't insulted yet - I apologise. Let me know by return and I will see what I can do to work you in.

I was going to hand over some body armour but I think the average claymore would make short work of that.
Guess I'm just going to have to protect him with my body - either that or a nuclear fallout bunker. rolleyes
Please - nobody mention Dunkirk!

Sappho hands Will a hardhat and advises ducking for cover before the mortars come whizzing over the border.
So nice to see the diplomatic corps in full flight isn't it? It's no wonder the Auld Alliance was with France, not England.
biggrin Face it Jezzay - you feel as at home here as the rest of us! I guess it takes us all by surprise what a seriously nice group of people we swingers are!
I'm thrilled you love the Gotan Project as much as I do - it is seriously sexy, fabulous music.
One last thing... Go for it, girl!

Thank you kiss to everyone for the recommendation of Patrick Susskind's Perfume - I'm really enjoying it. As soon as I bought it I went for a hot chocolate in my favourite coffee shop - and was nearly late for the school run.
There are some books that I have to religiously reread at least once a year.
Jane Austen's works, Pride and Prejudice being my ultimate favourite;
Charlotte Bronte, Jane Eyre
Anne Bronte, The Tenant of Wildfell Hall
William Morris, News from Nowhere
Charles Dickens, A Christmas Carol - every Christmas without fail!
Favourite author? Far too difficult, but Wilkie Collins must be at the top of the pile - The Woman in White, The Moonstone, Armadale...
Other favourite authors I can read again and again are Mrs Gaskell, Caroline Graham, David Eddings and - I have a very catholic taste!
Biography - Antonia Fraser's Cromwell, Our Chief of Men and Vincent Cronin's Louis XIV.
Poetry - Lord Rochester, Robert Herrick, Alexander Pope, Shakespeare's Sonnets, Dante Gabriel Rossetti, John Donne...
The books I cannot live without in everyday life? The Chambers Dictionary, Chambers Biographical and Fowler's English Usage - the tools of my trade! Is this a good time to mention I have over 32 dictionaries? Um, perhaps not.
This list isn't exhaustive by any means but it has meant I'm revisiting my collection in search of forgotten gems!

Bath bubbles and a good book or two. I love reading in the bath, soaking in scented water for an hour with a glass of something chilled to hand. Mmmm... bliss!
Babbler,
You have a really nice ad, although a pic would be nice as a point of reference. I hope you find some company this week.

I've voted but I still think you'll be stuck with the duck from hell!

You'll only get yourself a reputation saying things like that, Sappho !

You mean the reputation I already have for clear, concise prose and incisive wit, Carpy? I am working on it I assure you! Sadly it's more than can be said for the News of the World, wouldn't you agree?
Sappho (whose attempts at irony occasionally fall upon stony soil) xxx
I haven't seen the scribblings in question in the loosely termed News of the World, but I have just noticed at this point in time we have 20 Guests online. We don't normally have that many do we at any one time?
I wonder if we shouldn't stage a little something to give them something to talk about? After all we're so normal in here they might be just a tad disappointed. After all, book threads, music discussions, small scale social get togethers... hardly the stuff of scandal.
Mass orgy in the GFZ anyone? rolleyes

Oooh, tough one! I do have a soft spot for Percy biggrin and I have encountered Garg  - did he sort out his little human-fixation thing?
Choices, choices...
Still thinking... burgundy velvet or pale coffee lace? Ooops, sorry; wong decision there.
I'll be in touch!

It won't be long before you can abuse me in person!! And I shall be sure to enjoy every moment.
love Kat

Kat - behave yourself and stop abusing Will - or I will tell Kit! Now you don't want both of us to reckon with now do you?

Only Sarge and he's passed out Gottohaveit - I think the football was just too much for him. All that excitement you know - when straight to his head I'm afraid.
Oh well. rolleyes
Night Gottohaveit, see you round. xxx
Sarge? Sarge? Are you okay?
Out cold. Okay, into the recovery position, over you go. Now, I need a blanket... sod it, looks like the pizza will have to do.
Here, here boy! Come and cuddle up to Sarge...
I wonder what he was going to say? Guess I'll never know. Time for bed, I guess.
Night Sarge, night pizza.
Hello Helen - and welcome to SH

Sappho pokes head around the door, obviously interrupting a blokey chat
Hi guys,
Don't suppose there's any chance of a drink is there? Just spent the evening with 22 manic kids, a DJ who insisted on playing Agadoo instead of Nirvana and my ex. Don't let me spoil the conversation, just something alcoholic in my right hand will do nicely. I shall curl up quietly in the corner of the sofa and chill.
I was about to commit the ultimate folly and buy some lingerie in Shrewsbury today. Before I could make my choice between the burgundy velvet and the pale coffee lace I was asked to leave the shop! Apparently there was a fire alarm ringing and I hadn't even noticed. So I joined the stream of exiting shoppers from the mall - and didn't go back.
Was God trying to tell me something - like thou shalt not give your bank manager another heart attack?

Would the leather boots and lace thong and a bottle of champagne go any way towards assuaging your chagrin and ire?
Then again, you could go on being stern and masterful...
