First of all thanks for the replies so far but I see some of you could not resist the urge to take the mickey out of a very serious thread. Oh well, what can we do, people will be people! rolleyes
Now as to my experiences: I have been using Daz tablets for 3 years. I find they are wonderful at cleaning all the food stains off my clothes. They also smell good. In addition to Daz tablets, I have been using Comfort or Lenor, both in concentrated form and in the ready to use form (classic). The washing machines I have used were not new as I rent my place. They were either by Indesit or the current one by Hotpoint. Back home I had a Candy washing machine that was a hand down from my mom (about 13 years old or slightly more) and never ever had a problem with softness even when drying clothes out in the sun. So it can't be the fault of the washing machine or the way I dry my clothes (although I do agree that towels need to be picked up and folded just before totally drying).
It cannot be the fault of the detergent. I have also used Ariel non bio tablets, Ariel liquidtabs, Persil tablets, Bold powder as well as Persil liquid for woolies. In the past I had washed clothes with Tesco's own brand cheapest detergent in powder form and the results were satisfying. So it is not an issue of cost, either.
I was lucky to have a clothes dryer at my old place and I used it frequently but still the clothes were hard and that was the first time I became aware of it because I had complaints from a boyfriend that his towel was scraping his skin. Up to now I had some towels stored which I had washed over 2 years ago and they were soft. I washed them to refresh them and guess what? Hard as cardboard!
I know the water hardness in my area is extremely high but then I have lived in the same area for several years so why would I be getting problems now?
I do maintain they have done something to the formulas and not telling us. Also why is it that I have developed itchy skin the last 18 months or so? (I am going to have this investigated in the autumn and it better not be detergent/conditioner related...)
And Manofmuchfun, if fabric softeners are known not to work for softening fibres, then we have been lied to for decades by the companies that make these products. I do not need to use an expensive product to make my clothes smell nice, I store them with bars of soap and they get adequately fragranced this way.
Guys, stop for a moment and think of the implication of what I am saying here. It may seem trivial or irrelevant to you but when as a consumer we are being misled, I say it is worth investigating it and raising a voice of protest!
I am waiting for further responses to my thread. Thanks.
Not really a question related to swinging other than the association between soft fabrics on your body that your partner would love to peel off you... or soft towels you'd love to wrap yourself in.
It's been over a year now that I have found out that the fabric conditioners do not soften the clothes. I use the indicated quantity, I do not over/under load the washing machine and I dry the clothes naturally, yet they are as hard as cardboard.
I rang the manufacturer and complained and we went through a series of questions to try to find what I was doing wrong (why should Ibe doing something wrong? It's them who change the composition of things trying to keep one step ahead of demand all the time... quick dry... no iron... etc). Eventually I was offered a voucher. I used it to buy a different product from their range (just in case the combination of washing tablets and conditioner were not compatible) but the same result: hard clothes.
I experimented further, using no fabric conditioner at all and the clothes were softer than the ones washed with fabric conditioner.
So my question is: 'what is going on'? Are we taken for a ride by manufacturers? Mind you even the supermarket brands are not any better (Sainsbury's and Tesco's are the ones I have tried, both concentrated form and the classic form) and I suspect the reason is that they are manufactured by the same factory just under a different label.
Please let me know your experiences using fabric conditioners and maybe if we get a lot of people who have issues with them, we can get a petition through and demand some answers.
Thank you.
Funny this thread came up just as I was talking to a friend about us being nearly 40.
I remember my dad's friends talking about women in their 40s and how hot they were. I recently realised me and my school mates will be approaching that interesting ripe age in a couple of years' time.
It is strange, I don't feel old. Inside I am still the same young person I've always been.

Bark on the beds is no good - tried that. Not only did the cats keep coming back, but birds collect the bark in spring time for their nests, making a mess by throwing/dropping it all over the place.

Mystery solved! For a few days now the bark at the front of my garden is disturbed and spilt over two pathways. At first I thought it was the dog two doors down but it's never done it before so it's got to be the birds. I can now relax. Thanks SH for being so informative! biggrin
What was it with Star Trek TNG? A protocol of non interference? I guess time travel is also governed by the same protocol. Oh God, I miss my ex's full collection of Star Trek!
As for Casanova the series stinks in my opinion. What a weak, stupid script and idiotic performances! The guy most of you seem to be crazy about is a kid, there is no sex appeal, he has completely missed the essence of the Great Casanova (OK maybe not his fault but the script writer's and directors...) Let's hope this creative team does not decide to remake the Decameron and do more damage to Italians! lol

Ah the good old days eh?
No colour television
No video recorders
No telephones in the house let alone mobile technology
Letters instead of emails
Washing with a twin tub instead of an automatic
Daily shopping with no super markets.
No Sunday trading. plus half day closing.
One weeks holiday in Bognor if you were lucky.
Being sent out with a crate full of empties to the Corona man for some more pop and the refund on the bottles.
The paraffin man
The rag and bone man
Cod liver oil by the tablespoon instead of capsules.
Coins as big as dinner plates in yer pocket.
No power tools.
Coal fires in the lounge
Frost on the inside of the windows in all the other rooms.
Lino round the edge of the room to polish.
Cars that wouldn't start.
Cars that wouldn't stop.
yep the good old days confused

I miss the frosted windows. They used to be an outlet for my creativity. My mom kept chasing me with a cloth to wipe off fingermarks.
Where I grew up we used to have frequent power cuts. So the whole family gathered round the fireplace and told stories or sang songs till we were tired enough to turn in.
My aunt had an ice block wooden refrigerator. They had to get a new block of ice every day in the summer.
Some of my earlier memories include the utility room that smelled of powder soap and olive oil (stored in great clay jars the height of a child's body). Grandma used to treat clothes with a strange blue dye to make them white.
Those days we used to eat eggs raw as there was no risk of poisoning. Grandma used to feed me an egg yolk a day, sometimes beaten with sugar and cocoa powder, sometimes beaten with sugar and brandy - yum!
And we used to bathe in mud pools (trenches dug out and filled with water) and not catch any nasty diseases.
I do long for the good old days even if they were not full of today's conveniences!

Beware camera phones!
We met a single guy last night at a Travel Lodge, had an amzing couple of hours with him and after a while we realised that he had been taking pics with his phone, pretending to read texts etc!
A row ensued and he denied it before calling me every name under the sun and escaping!
M

You mean you accepted him reading texts whilst you guys were sexually engaged?!!! How rude of him, be it texting or undercover photographing! As for the name calling, it must have been very upsetting to you, after having placed your trust to this guy...
Next time, tie the single man down in bed, away from his trinkets and get your fun without the worries! biggrin
How about using citronella candles in the planting? You know the small ones that look like tealights or the slightly larger ones in glass or plastic cups? That will stink the garden and upset the cats.
As for the wax stains, are you using newspaper under and over the garment, then ironing? It is important to sandwich the material so the wax gets absorbed two ways. The next step would be to put the clothing item in the wash with soap to get rid of residual stains. The Vanish idea sounds good - did you try treating the fabric as Vix suggested? If totally at a loss, phone the manufacturer and ask them what they recommend and who knows if you whine enough you might get some money off coupons and then go replace the item wink

Well if your not , and they are, does it matter?
It does not matter to me but as soon as people find out I am straight they lose interest so I have kind of developed a defence (e.g. in chat) and tell anyone who says hi and is part of a couple that I am straight so I do not waste their and my time. LOL I can't help being straight!!! redface

well how can you explain, how the egyptians thought to do (what in there day would have been) brain surgery, come on. i have a headache or have had a blow to the head, lets cut a hole in your skull.

Ah I can answer that one! biggrin Get the book by Mika Waltari called The Egyptian. Brilliant novel and lots of info on brain surgery, too!
You actually SAT down on the seat?!!!!!!! Eww!
I think the greatest discoveries were an accident. E.g. eating cooked meat instead of raw... some housewife in the Stone Age must have dropped the family meat into the fire and told her hubby and kids that this is all the new rage... And then her kids found some eggs and began throwing them at each other for play when one hit the hot stones and cooked, the dog ate it, they thought 'well what's good for the dog, is good for us!' and so on. Wouldn't it be nice though if we could be transported back in time and witness the exact moment of a discovery?
I don't think the ex Casanova actor is going to be any good in Dr Who  He just doesn't have the sex appeal and the 'trust me I am a doctor' look.
Sorry Rachel, it was on Celebrity Frock Ups that I heard it. They described her as a slob and said she's about the dirtiest star and that was not in a sexy way
TV said that Britney Spears has smelly feet. She once took her shoes off in an airplane and the hostess had to rush and ask her to put them back on as it was distrubing the other passengers! lol

So for the hell of it i left my car for 2 months and now at every opertunity park my car outside his house. People are protective of there car parking spaces.
grrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Shame on you Mike!
I watch this programme out of curiosity. I am appalled to see people who are perfectly alright having surgery to enhance parts of their anatomy like that page 3 girl. Her breasts were so beautiful, the natural curves, the bounce, the proportion to her chest.... but she went and enlarged them to these totally fake looking ones. The curve was lost, the bounce was lost and the first comment she made was that she would have liked them even bigger!
And what about the woman having a 'designer vagina'? Heavens forbid that men get the idea to start pushing us to go under the knife to get 'tighter' and 'prettier' down there! Honestly, I was laughing my head off when she said 'I used to have a pretty vagina before giving birth'... like what, did she spend day and night staring at her vagina?!! lol
However, it was interesting to see an abdominoplasty for that lady who lost some serious weight and ended up with flaps of skin hanging here and there. I can understand her going under the knife, not just for the cosmetic side of things but also for reasons of hygiene. Unfortunately they did not show enough of it - they just showed the abdominoplasty, not the breast and buttock lift or the work on her back. It would also be nice if they were to follow up people who have had major surgery as I understand that they have to spend months with drains attached to their bodies before the wounds heal fully and they have to change the dressings regularly.
When I was a kid, dentistry was truly in the Middle Ages. They used huge pliers to take teeth off, often without sedation. I was growing too fast for my age so my new teeth were coming out on top of my very strong old teeth and that meant lots of visits to the dentist for tooth extraction! I might have gotten a fear for dentists if it were not for the very large drawer of this particular dentist where she kept all the empty medicine bottles. To a kid like me that was fascinating! All those tiny bottles, made especially for child's play! The dentist promised to let me have some if I proved myself worthy. And guess what? I did prove myself worthy, putting all my siblings to shame biggrin Hopefully you can help your kids be friends with the dentist once they realise how exciting and creative this job is.
Well at least it is good to know that children get the best dental attention possible.
I had some white fillings done on the NHS and the job was dreadful. The colour was totally wrong, I ended up having gaps between the teeth and I felt a huge bulge where the filling was. I went back and complained after a week or two (the dentist had said the bulge would go on its own). Eventually the manager of the practice accepted to redo my teeth at a fraction of the cost of private treatment (I only paid the actual cost of the filling, the job was done free of charge). He did a brilliant job.
PS: maybe I have been lucky but I have fillings since school, that is 20+ years ago! If the dentist does a proper job to clean out the damaged part of the tooth and applies the filling carefully and gives you proper care instructions, there is no reason to replace the fillings unless they come off. Maybe modern materials are not that strong? We'll see...!
White fillings: you can eat straight away. Mercury (silver) fillings: you need to wait an hour. The wait used to be 3-4 hours for them to dry but, if that was necessary, I am sure your dentist would have advised you.
As for pulling teeth out, that is not a solution. Nature has a defence mechanism so, when you pull a tooth out, it moves the other teeth to try and cover the gap. The tooth movement is very painful and lasts several months leaving unsightly gaps. If you need to have a tooth pulled out, it is advisable to get a bridge made to cover the space or get an implant.
Silver fillings vs. white fillings: lots of research has been done about them. There is a link to mercury fillings and migraines and other health issues. It is slow poisoning but a lot of people think it is a ploy from dentists to take your money by changing your fillings to white ones.
It is worth paying to have dental work done privately. It is a good investment for one's future - £40-60 for something that will last 20 years... that's not too bad surely? And it boosts your confidence to have a good smile. A good smile will hide imperfections in your face (eg. a big or crooked nose, pimples, scars) and win people over. wink
Hope this little info helps!

Hi,
I'm male, 36, and from Glasgow. I'm looking to chat with woman about smoking whilst having sex. I'm a non-smoker and find the whole idea very erotic. I've experienced it once and was totally blown away by it. (pardon the pun).
Would love to hear a females opinion on this with a veiw to chatting on msn/ . etc..

Thanks

Hi Gordon
Sounds like you are having a smoking fetish. I suggest you search the net for a Mistress who is catering to this fetish. There are various portals with categorised fetishes that can help you locate the right one.
This is what Callista would be wearing along with her 6" heels... biggrin

everyone will be drooling!
Morbius you do not need special clothes to go to a fetish club/party. You are a man. All you need to wear is a leather or black lycra thong which you can pick up online. Thongs have the advantage to fit in the narrower part of the body and the strings stretch to fit any size. It is more about the attitude than the fetish wear. Anyway, clubs will allow you to dress/undress inside - you don't have to arrive already dressed in fetish gear. And don't worry about your size - you will find men (and women) of all shapes and sizes attending such events!
Yay! Good news. I can't get till she gets back in form and tells me all about the experience. I quite fancy a water birth myself but don't think the hospital will indulge me.
Congratulations and welcome to the world little Charlotte!
Steve
I think they are the Chinese Herbal Medicine guys in the shops dotted around the country. They offer cupping and acupuncture. Don't know if they are licensed though as a physio would be.

Thanks for your words. As always I will not reveal if this is based on reality or is pure fantasy, just to keep you people wondering! I am sadistic, aren't I? lol You must be the only forum member who's read my story.
Get a nice heat pack - the one you boil then let cool and press a disc to activate the heating process. They are wonderful for such pains and will help you get rid of the pain quickly. As for your medication, it is known to cause sleepiness and I have used them in lieu of sleeping tablets at moments of crisis! tee hee
Hope you feel better soon!
Don't you feel flattered when people find you exciting enough to wank off? I remember a fisherman in Tangiers doing just so when I was on the beach. There were no other people but me and my guide and I had lifted my skirt to go into the water. The sight of my white knees was enough to set the fisherman off in the cliffs to have a wank. My guide yelled at him but I just laughed my head off.
