Can't comment on HD broadcasts, but Blu-Ray should be stunning. When we bought the PS3 and Sony 40" HDTV I hooked them up with a HDMI cable, then sat back and watched 'I Am Legend'. The opening scene had both me and my mate sat with our mouths wide open. The detail and clarity was bloody good.
On the signal side of things, when we changed our main transmission signal type and frequency how many of us changed the aerial? It's tuned to be selective about the frequency it receives and has 'roll off' either side of its tuned frequency. Chances are if you didn't replace your 20-year-old aerial you're not getting the maximum gain from it. ;)

Nature vs nurture is a fallacy. They're two sides of the same coin that influence each other.
With people there may be a predisposition to violence and violent behaviour, however environmental and educational influences may alter how individual will react in given situations.

Over the xmas period (while things were a little slow) I got into a debate about morality.

Depends what you consider to be recent really? I suspect that the republican movement in Ireland has done more damage to our country in the last 50 years and ETA has been 'slightly problematic' for Spain.

So, short of growing wings and flying there... why should people have to risk their lives to get to work or while at work?

To me, what is not simply right, is the expectation/demands that someone should take unnecessary risks in order to get to/be in work. If the place is closed or you are forced into the situation that you can't get there, why should you not get paid?
I work in the public sector and I had a choice of taking holiday time or unpaid leave when I could not dig my car out of the snow. Apparently it's been decided that staff are highly irresponsible and will shout 'snow-day' at the first sign of a flake (of the snow kind) if they're allowed paid days off in bad weather, so as an incentive to get to work they're made to use their own time or face financial loss.
I'm now contemplating drafting a letter to my manager and the HR department stating that I will pursue legal action if I'm involved in an accident while having undue financial pressure applied to me to attend work in extreme and dangerous conditions, against my better judgement and police advice. Much fucking good it'll do me though. :lol2: banghead

I have friends on here that are 100's of miles away, because I like to interact with people, but don't like having to go hunting through the search facility to find them so I can send them a message. Especially when there's a way that works very well for me.
Some members like to add ops/mods to their friends lists for similar reasons.

My Mother in law many years ago was hidden inside by her mother after if was found she was pregnant. She was pushed into getting an abortion of a baby she wanted to keep. Mrs Tweekys elder sibling is 30 this year but My Mother in law told me she still thinks about that baby now and knows when it would have been born.
So yeh all good for Womans choice, abusive husbands choice, irate mothers choice, Girl under stress and her choice. Its so easy for the manipulated who dont want to end their pregnancy to be forced to keep their mouths shut and sign the paper otherwise when you get home you, wont have a place to live, will get a punch in the mouth, or I'll leave you on your own.

All the people you mention in the above descriptions had other choices, but because of fear, decided to go with a path dictated to them. It's the social situation they're in that needs to be addressed in your examples, not the existence of abortion clinics.
Prior to 1967 many women died or were left horribly mutilated after visiting back-street abortionists. If you think that removing clinics would end abortions then I feel you may be deluding yourself.
As a debate I can't see where this one has left to go. People express their views and experiences, for which there are equally compelling views and arguments and nothing moves forwards. To my mind there's one hell of a lot of grey between black and white on this subject.
Perhaps this debate should move towards talking about how our behaviour and actions influence others. How our self-righteousness regarding what is best for others can cloud our objectivity and the drive to do what we think is right can lead to something very wrong (coming close to activating Godwins Law now :lol2: ).
