My experience of anyone working in health and care, is that they are usually extremely busy.
So they are generally polite and professional, but they are human and equally prone to feeling that their skills are often taken for granted and abused uneccesarily on occasion.

Duncan not sure if I've read and interpreted this right. Yes, I can see your point, it's like people that clog up a GP's surgery with colds. BUT and this is a big but - surely as in preventive medicine, we are using the service to protect ourselves and prevent catching something and spreading it far wider thus clogging up the system even more with emergency reactive servicing.
How can that be construed as being taken for granted or abused? Using such an example purely for similarity not the subject matter itself - can the same be applied to abortions rather than encouraging the use of contraception? Is asking for contraception abusing a system? No of course it isn't. It's preventive, safe, responsible action.

One shouldn't use the service to protect yourself. You use condoms etc. One should not be contemplating that visiting a clinic after the event is in some way getting brownie points in the fight against spreading an infection. This is where the abuse occurs.
If one is an active sexual adventurer, its par for the course to accept that if you stray off the path you are responsible for your actions.
Of course you have to get treatment, but the staff in the clinics recognise careless repeat visitors, and its no wonder they don't treat you with a great deal of respect. You may cause them to do unnecessary work; if you prove negative on the assumption that you have overindulged and been irresponsible.
So as I said they do professional job, but they would rather be treating people who have genuinely been victims, not cruisers and tourists who blunder into a new crisis.
All my visits have proven negative, and I really wish I hadn't wasted their time. Also I suspect that many people just wouldn't bother with checkups if they had to pay for them.
I find the part of your post (in bold) a little offensive.
They are paid to do the job that they chose to do. Regardless of how many times I visited a clinic I would still expect to be treated with dignity and respect and I certainly wouldn`t expect to be judged.

My experience very much follows on from what DuncanLondon said.
The last time I went to a clinic, they were not very keen to do any checks at all based on my "lifestyle choice". They wanted symptoms, or they weren't very interested in doing a full range of tests. I actually had to insist that they test me, on the basis that I had had sex with someone who contacted us to say that she had caught an STD. Thankfully, we were in the clear.
I think that from now on, I'll be going to the one of the private clinics where you pay to get tests done - at least you don't have to explain anything to them - you pay them, they do the tests. Simple. (This is from the experience of someone I know who went private last time.)

I just wanted to pick up on on the point about testing when symptoms are present.
It was my understanding that alot os STIs are syptomless for alot of people, there for getting checked without showing any signs or symptoms is a huge nessecity. For example I worked with a lady who didn`t know for years that she had picked up chlmidya (sp?) it had caused pelvic inflamotory dieaese and left her needing fertility treatment. Her husband was also infected and he also showed no symptoms!.
I visited a GUM clinic when I was about 15 and it was a hurrendus experience, the nurse was rude, extreamly uncaring and quite rough. It put me off ever returning. When I've found myself in need of a check up I have visited my local gp who has done it no questions asked.
but as a thought tho if you do get any thing it goes on your permanant record if you get tested at your gp. and could affect things like insurance etc if the check up on medical records
I`m not sure about that and I never asked as I had the all clear.
It was a sexual health clinic that the gp was running so I don`t kno if that makes any difference dunno.
We have never had a day time meet so I can`t really comment on whether its sexier or naughtier etc but........ yesterday mr lyns rang me as I was getting in from doing the school run and basicly wondered if I fancied a shag :lol2:. Men they put it so delicatly!!.
To cut a long story short mr lyns popped home from work and we did the deed hump.
Before I could blink he was gone again and I felt so naughty redface . It was fun tho :giggle:

Aries
Being embraced by the element of fire and ruled by Mars you have a youngsters attitude to play, which is both charming and disarming giving rise to possibilities of tempestuous physical relationships.
Sexually. Being the sign of the ram makes for you being unfeasibly horny most of the time. When the opportunity arises take it !
How did you know
Financially: Be careful, summers here and you’re naturally inclined to spend on fun.
Did you peek at my bank statements :lol2:
Outlook :- Could be a good year if you’re careful about releasing your fiery nature. Play it cooler and heat up gradually!!
Youv`e read my mums mind!! she thinks I have anger management issues
When I was an eleven year old girl guide our group along with others got chosen to be part of a tv documentry for channel 4.
The documentry was based on a young / teenage girls view on growing up and going through puberty.
So we all trouped to Redwood Lodge in Bristol for the documentry to be filmed in girl guide uniform!!. I was so excited at the prospect of being on tv, then I found out we would actually have to talk about breasts, periods redface and boys (yuk). I wasn`t as excited any more!!. I my idea was to just blend into the background looking all lovely in my uniform, how wrong was I?
So the day progressed and we all aired our views for the camera. Everything was going fine and dandy until............ I slipped in the toilets wacked my head on the basin so hard I was seeing stars!! and had to sit out for the rest of the afternoon!! sad.
For the end of the documentry they wanted everyone to prance around in a circle with a person stood in the middle. As the felt sorry for me I got chosen to stand in the middle of the circle in a growbag  whilst everyone else skipped around me singing..... " I must I must improve my bust, the bigger the better the tighter the sweater" redface, oh the embarassment when i think of it now :lol2:
So has anyone else got any embarassing claims to fame?.

Irvine, Scotland (mrs lyns birthplace)
It was the haunt of Robert Burns and two streets are named after him.
Mary Queen of Scots was rumored to have stayed in Seagate Castle although this isn`t confirmed.
Steve Nicol former Liverpool and Sheffield Wednesday football player was born there.
But thats about it im afraid.
Bristol (mr lyns birthplace)
A distinctive dialect of English is spoken by some Bristol inhabitants, known colloquially as Bristolian. Bristol is the only large English city with a rhotic accent, in which the r in words like car is pronounced. The unusual feature of this dialect, unique to Bristol, is the Bristol L (or terminal L), in which an L sound is appended to words that end in an 'a' or 'o'. Thus "area" becomes "areal", etc. This is how the city's name evolved from Brycgstow to have a final 'L' sound: Bristol. Further Bristolian linguistic features are the addition of a superfluous "to" in questions relating to direction or orientation, or using "to" instead of "at"; and using male pronouns "he", "him" instead of "it". For example, "Where's that?" would be phrased as "Where's he to?", a feature exported to Newfoundland English.
Stanley Ellis, a long-term dialect researcher, found that many of the dialect words in the Filton area were linked to work in the aerospace industry. He described this as "a cranky, crazy, crab-apple tree of language and with the sharpest, juiciest flavour that I've heard for a long time".
To all you pirate lovers Blackbeard was from Bristol, as was Cary Grant.
I can really appreciate how you must be feeling. I live on a rough estate in Bristol and in the year that I have been here I have had my car broken into and bricks thrown at my front door. We found out who was responsible and I was really ready to go round their houses and have it out with them and their parents, but you know what it isn`t worth you ending up with a criminal record because at the end of the day they are kids and your an adult.
I think all you will achieve is to piss off your neighbours because the little f**kers that are doing it will love the fact that they are getting to you.
So I do sympathise and see where you are coming from but I don`t think you will get the desired effect. People could see it as derograty and threatening and in the long run give you more agro.

lmao Lyns, wonder if he realised what u were doing lol

I don`t think so but i could never look him in the eye again redface :lol2:
Myself and mr lyns were taking a walk through a well known park in the sunshine and just happened to come across a nice quiet spot under a tree lol . So one thing led to another and I ended up stradeling mr lyns hump so i`m going for it really enjoying myself when our neighbour popped his head round the tree and proceeded to start to chat .
I couldn`t do anything, I couldn`t get off without him seeing everything so I had to sit there for ten mins until he decided he`d better go on his way! lol
Talk about killing the moment!! :lol2:
Hi anais, would love to put our names down for the pre-social drinkies  .

burning houses are much more dangerous, but you often hear of brave neighbours going in to rescue poeple trapped. its not down to what your paid or knew where the boy was last seen. i would have had a go.
no question

Each to their own and all that but you have no idea what you would do in any particular situation unless you were there!.
Personally I think the mother is trying to blame the officers as she herself feels guilty and helpless, the step father didn`t go in either and that alone must tell you something. The list of who to blame/condem could go on and on.
I feel desperatly sad for all involved, but trying to place blame where I personally don`t think it rests won`t bring the little lad back.
Hello and :welcome: to the forums
