Cheers for doing the opping duties Trev. Not that much was required in that way, we were all very civilised while I was in there, unlike them other lot, you know, the usual chatroom types. ;)
Wish I'd stayed longer, I was enjoying it. That early sleep thing I felt might be in the offing calling me to bed, well that turned out to be a lie. 3:30am last time I remember looking at the clock then up again at 7. Grand total of 17 hours sleep now these last 5 nights. Whoopi-fuckin'-doo!
That's the thing Trev isn't it. Doesn't really hurt them switching search providers or browsers unless you're clicking on the ads they serve up as you're searching. That's their revenue stream. If you don't ever click ads you're no good to 'em financially anyways so hardly missed. Not that that's a comment on the moral choice though, obviously.
Shorter post this time round:
Quote by Johnny Depp in the film Don Juan DeMarco
There are only four questions of value in life, Don Octavio:
What is sacred?
Of what is the spirit made?
What is worth living for?
And what is worth dying for?
The answer to each is the same. Only love.

Beautiful, and so true:

I avoid them, I prefer to discuss current affairs on sex sites.

For truly informed debate on all that's current you'll not beat 'em Ben, oh no!
I don't do Twitter, at all. It's not that I don't do social networking sites as such, I use Facebook a bit and don't see much distinction between that and my time on forums like this as far as keeping in touch goes. Problem with Twitter is there is just no way on this planet I'm gonna get something down to 140 characters or less. Not a prayer! lol

Yeah sure, why not smile

What a stalwart. Still recovering from the brush with the nation's health service an' all, you're an absolute trooper Trev, a shining example to us all. It would be an honour and a privelege to stand alongside you, I salute you Sir!
See you tomorrow then I suppose. If I'm not asleep by then. And can be arsed. lol

I start s new job tomorrow....

Somehow missed that, so I suppose it's too late to wish you well, but hopefully it's all good?
Oh yeah, I never checked the date of the post. OK, hope you had a good first week then Ste? lol

Can you tell I don't really do Xmas. Bah humbug, roll on New Year.

I'm not a Christmas person either, I think that expectations of having 'the best christmas ever' are always over inflated. But I do enjoy a good roast and a few drinks with all the family.
Yeah, lots of pressure holiday season with this expectation of something like a Hallmark card no matter what's going on. Just isn't like that for lots of people. Often brings out the worst in human nature as much as it brings out the best. Too many dark emotions linked with Xmas for me, people who should be there but are with us no longer, stuff like that. Never really gets any easier, even decades on. sad Anyways, that's enough bringing the thread down. Sounding like Scrooge here!

Best of luck with it Ste, and congrats. smile
Yep, we shut down on the 21st, reopen the 2nd. The boss used to insist we open up in between, terrified he might miss a sale till he realised he was paying staff to come in and toss it off on the internet all day cos the phones never rung. Then he decided we'd shut down but we had to use our own holiday entitlement for it. This year it doesn't come out of the holidays but we get no bonus, so all swings and roundabouts really.
No plans apart from going over to mam's Xmas eve so I'm there in the morning to help with the dinner before the hordes descend. Fifteen of us this year to feed plus two newborns and I'm doing it sober. That's gonna be a novel experience watching everyone else get ratted while I'm on the alcohol frees. Guess I'll be the voice of reason then when everyone starts falling out later in the day, as per bloody usual. rolleyes

No chance these days Warwick, not with airline security like it is. Look what happened last time I tried to fly a thread off somewhere sunny:

We could possibly take it to Cleethorpes by National Express but Cuba, other Central and Southern American dictatorships, it's not happening mate, those times are gone. Shame really, I'm bloody freezing.
*burns office stationary in a feeble attempt to keep warm*
Think we should leave it out now Flower. I feel cruel teasing yet more posts of out Phil like this, like I've been torturing kittens or summink.
Aw fuck it! lol
one our big fantasies at the moment is to have a few select guys around Jaine to come over her breasts so we'll need to venture into the single male timezones at some point. Not quite sure of the etiquette of asking for that one but it'll be interesting to find out.

Etiquette usually is just ask, be forthright with guys you like the look of, sure you'll find a few guys will jump at the chance of a little bukkake session. lol Be sure to explain that's all it is if that's all you want, be clear about your boundaries, anyone doesn't stick to them in a way that kills the mood wrap things up there and then. Any guy does that is likely to get a very stern talking to from the others for spoiling their fun by being a disrespectful arse can't keep his hands to himself. From what I've seen though the respectful will often keep the disrespectfully inclined in check anyways to ensure that doesn't happen.
You'll often find two quite distinct groups of single male in a club: those who get it and behave like a normal, decent human being around other people, and those with a pack mentality who don't following couples and fems around en masse like a dog with two dicks. *shakes head* Should make selecting which guys to approach fairly straightforward.
If you find you're rethinking your boundaries quite naturally as things progress you can invite more, but be cautious. Usually best to stick to your agreed boundaries so as not to get carried away in the heat of the moment and find yourself dealing with fall-out you didn't quite foresee at the time. Discuss any thoughts of progressing further with a subsequent visit afterwards when passions are cold.
Hahahahaha. Wasn't suggesting she play dress up but yeah, I can see how that might make you a little over-excitable yes. Must remain calm. lol
You gave no clue it was so serious Trev. Glad you got got there quick enough. You putting your feet up, Mrs T playing nursey? Fingers crossed all is well and you're right as rain soon enough.

proof we don't actually all hate each other despite what positions we adopt on the forums! lol

OK, fair enough Star, we mostly don't all hate each other, though there may be the odd exception that proves the rule! ;)

Neil is a show off... he was multitasking in forum and chat pah! And then women say men can't multitask. You show them Neil! smile

I amaze even myself at times awol, I really do. One for the scientific literature maybe, though I haven't worked out if you can save the chat logs so now can't prove I was chatting and posting simultaneously from the time stamps and stuff. Damn! Will have to have another go next week at compiling proper evidence I can send off to New Scientist or Nature or summink.
Good to see you in there awol, glad you made it. You did look hopelessly confused in places but then so did I I'm sure? And yeah, typing varied from readable just but hopelessly misspelled to hang on, where did all that stuff I just typed up go, what have I done?
Minxy, GnV's mention of PFI funding gives a clue I think as to why there is a need for rationalising services based on the core expertise of certain hospitals and certain hospital departments. It's true that the Labour Govt saw a lot of expensive building and rebuilding bringing hospitals that had been somewhat neglected under the previous Tory adminstration back up to speed. Question is how much it was an objectively real improvement meeting an objectively real need, and how much of it was more to do with being able to say we built x new hospitals or invested an extra x billion in the NHS than the previous Govt. PFI allowed them to spend with the inital costs being kind of off books and ongoing costs deferred. Not all of that spending was properly warranted or properly directed I'm sure, pure politics.
Unfortunately the ongoing costs now have to be met and if there was any development that might have been unnecessary because streamlining of services and more efficient delivery means the need originally identified could be better served elsewhere then yeah, rationalising provision very much the way forward. On this I'm prepared to accept that in some cases it's not really a cut to services as such. The PFI financed stuff might as well be kept, we've got to pay for it so that might leave older hospitals that could be lucrative for redevelopment with staff and services going elsewhere at lower cost are probably gonna be the first to go. Not saying that's happening in your example, but generally.
I might be wrong on all the above, I've not looked into it enough, but that's my immediate take on it. Be interested in others' comments on it.
Hey, it's OK to shag them, but please don't slobber and get sentimental over us !!

lol
Boundaries John, boundaries. An appropriate emotional distance once the deed is done and all that.

Good news everybody - I made it through the night smile
Still here though. Thankfully I have an iPhone, charger and unlimited web access to see me through. You don't get rid of me that easily!

Hey Trev. Did wonder when you didn't join us. Not that you might have shuffled off this mortal coil or anything, just that you were maybe still sat in A&E or wherever hours after seeing the triage nurse and being filed in the 'He'll live' folder. lol Keeping you in, or just ridiculous inter-departmental delays seeing one doc to the next?

Can't do Fridays, thats when i get home and the last thing on me and kitty's mind is sitting in a chatroom talking bolox

Yeah Stevie. You'll probably be sitting on your sofa instead ploughing through the 'So how's your day been' reply that's five or six times longer than it is for most of us. That what you mean? ;)
I remember you well Phil. Nothing special, just seem to recall we quite regularly crossed threads years back and always enjoyed your posts. You should post more but hey, your call. No reply necessary, would hate to be seen to be trying to sucker you into yet another reply! ;)
Good call GnV, probably no worse to travel to for some than anywhere else depending where you are. Stevie can reconnoitre for us on his impending trip. Best be a bit after the New Year. I don't have a bloody passport, do I?
Silly Nellie! lol Though actually just had to have another look at TwoForOne's profile to check they were actually Notts / West Mids whatever and I wasn't just slavishly following your lead! Phew, seems I did check it before after all.
Morning GnV! Good to see you last night! smile
Yup, it's frustrating the way Labour are playing it. In a sense it's wise not to make promises about how they'd tackle the problem with what results, the times are too uncertain and many factors outside Govt / national control impacting on the best laid plans, but even so, they have no credibility saying they'd handle things better without any substance to support their claim. They're being proved correct that austerity measures and cuts alone aren't gonna solve bugger all if the economy flatlines or shrinks, even trying to maintain spending as a certain proportion of GDP is effectively a cut with negative growth and a shrinking pot. Must do something to stimulate growth, only way is to spend, invest in public infrastructure perhaps that will trickle down to contracts and job creation for the industries required to deliver it.
Weekly's good. Keep the novelty of it fresh, might struggle more often anyways. And yes, forum social for the regs definitely worth looking into more. Geography tricky though, likely to be small numbers of us with a very widel area we'd need to be conveniently accessible for at lowest possible cost in these austere times we live in. Let's have a think on it. DaveNotts wanted to do something similar, never went forward. Would like that.
Meant what I said BTW. Ever find yourself passing please give us a shout. Be really good to meet up at last Stevie even for a quick drink or a stop in at mine for a brew before off again.
Heard ( or read to be more accurate ) very good things about Kestrel Hydro too Lookers. Looks like a good place, def worth a visit I'd say. Perhaps if you do you could update, let us know how you found it?

inclusivity and fun for all the kids gets my vote everytime over some outdated religious fairy story.

That fewer and fewer even of your Anglo-Saxon types really believe in anyways, they just want their kids to have what they had, and their parents before them, and so on whether it makes sense or not. Why the outrage that things change with the times? Intellectual Luddism, let's go back to candles and wheelbarrows, no reason why not if it was good enough for our forebears. Last thing we want is something that develops with and is reflective of the present social climate our kids actually live in and must find their way in. Bloody schools, where do they get off with this edumacashunal shit? rolleyes

Good to see you BTW. smile

I'd say - bring back a nice, inclusive Pagan Midwinter Festival. A bonfire in the grounds (if they have land), a feast, loads of singing and dancing and a Winter King and Winter Queen to celebrate the birth of the new year and the ending of the dark nights.
Forget all that namby pamby Christian guff. A solid and hearty earth-based celebration warms the blood far better.

Quite! lol Traditional = a habit we've got into doing, that's subject to evolution and revolution. Making new traditions is quite doable. Long overdue perhaps in my view.

We all know that you ain`t the inept shrinking violet that you would have us believe !!! lol

Damn. I has been caughts out in my little deception. What a devious tricksy trickster I am! But then, there were a dozen of us tops, mostly fewer than that. Even I could keep up mostly, though still had to scroll back more than once trying to catch up with the various convos going on, struggled where I found myself with two seperate streams going on.

Thanks for open the room flower was a nice evening with all you men, can't believe I was the only woman in there with you all and what gentleman you all were.
Neil and I were the last standing, you load of light weights

Cos we knew if any one of us was less than gentlemanly we'd be all too easily be tracked down by our fellow forumites. Not like we could exactly hide, is it? Anyways, I offered you a shag, what more you want? Still waiting on whether you've got a spare two minute slot in your busy schedule?
Oh, and yes, last two out the lot of yer. Hardcore us. We laugh in the face of bedtimes. More smugs:
:smug:
It was really good, really enjoyed it. Like I said, like the Xmas truce WW1, proof we don't actually all hate each other despite what positions we adopt on the forums! Must do it again soon. smile
Stevie is disgusted cos my multi-tasking skills are so much better than his, chatroom and forum posts simultaneously. Read it and weep Stevie boy, read it and weep! One day you might be that good at it too, you can only dream.
:smug:
That's not what the cull is doing Blue. Healthy, sick, it doesn't distinguish. It's a general cull even in areas where much of the badger population might be disease free? How would you know anyways? Are they all gonna be tested for TB before they're shot? No.
And then there were four. AWOL, you better get yer finger out if you're joining us? sad
Manchester area I like Partners for the wet area. Oustanding. Best in Manchester at least, though in need of some updating last time I went, looking a little neglected is some areas. Good crowd usually too. Cupids also very good. Little better kept than Partners my last visits, similar crowd. Both got good social areas and lots of rooms.
