He might well succeed, but he's riding a shorter velodrome circuit than Jens did, and that means more bends and harder work, and I certainly wouldn't be looking to invest any dosh on the outcome. (live on Eurosport around 6 pm) Not gripping stuff, but the final 10 minutes might be good, especially when he starts to wilt with the goal in sight.
Others might fancy having a go in the coming months in the hope of setting the record before Bradley Wiggins sets a much more serious marker when he tackles it. All speculation at the moment, but it seems fairly certain that Wiggo will have a crack next year, and in a 50km time trial around a velodrome I'd expect Wiggins to be some 4 minutes ahead of either Brandle or Jens.

Hi, I'm not totally up to speed with what's going on, but I did read something along the lines of what Dave says. It seems there is going to be a clampdown on such venues; whether or not any are still operating I really don't know. I'm fairly sure that the local authority could be challenged on this. However, since the business is very much based around permitting questionable activities, and isn't a high revenue business, I think it's likely that most will disappear.

All that remains of this years Vuelta is a very short and flat course time trial. Alberto Contador has only to complete the course without incident in order to win the Vuelta, such is his lead following his superb ride to win stage 20. Incidentally the finishing positions in stage 20 will be how the leaders stand on the final podium, barring mishaps.
