I still believe that this sort of act is purely designed to send a message of hate. It only works because of the reaction he knows it will cause. But if his message never gets past his own front gate then there's no reaction.

But if it is as Flower describes, 'following people into other threads and even the chatrooms to make insulting comments over and over again' then IMO it's pretty clear which side of the abuse/banter line it's on. And it would be just as clear if it where reported, thats my point. Whoever is experiencing this can easily act on it and have it stopped.

You can't make people get on. You can avoid confrontation on a forum though. Very easily. Minx is right, everyone can chose to respond to or ignore anything they see as provokation.

Half the story is always worse that the whole story. I dont like the way threads go anymore than anyone else but even if i dont agree with some of the posts it's no debate at all if they're censored.

Myself I don't think we should be going down that route, even if we did all we would end up with are constant debates aboiut how unfair every post removal was.
Me neither, it leaves massive holes in the debate, or do you remove every post with a reply to one you remove too even if it has other points on, or do you just edit the reply bit out and leave the rest....

The best thing that could happen is that no-one reported on his 'protest'. If no-one saw it it would have no impact. I know its unrealistic to expect that to happen that way. But zero interest in this story would piss on his chips somewhat.

Well if you DO want to do anything about the problem there are plenty of things you can do. I was just trying to offer some helpful suggestions. I guess it depends how much the principal of not spending a few quid to sort out the problem is worth. Personally if it were that upsetting I'd say cat repelant was well worth it. It works very well. And would be much easier than getting the law changed.

I've been on a nudist beach where there were families. No-one batted an eyelid at any of it. The majority of people on the beach were naked but not all. And there was no way you could find yourself there by accident, there were plenty of signs on the beach before the nudist area.
I think the more of a fuss is made the more of an issue it becomes. We're talking nudity here, not sexual contact.
And as far as getting changed goes, kids are curious, if they look and see a flash of bum or boob it wont hurt them, and if they comment the worst it'll do is embarrass the hell out of their parent. Still no harm to be done.

Deterents do work. I regularly bought my neighbour pellets to sprinkle around his garden. It doesnt stop the cats going through it but it stops them sniffing around and using his garden as a toilet. Works a treat!
There are loads of other deterents about too, I dont know too much about the infra red ones but if they are that much of a nuisance to you they might be worth consideration.
There are loads of websites on how to keep cats out of your garden using household things too. Fencing isn't the only way. It's pretty easy to make your garden less attractive to use.
