"A night to remember"

From her perspective

We had talked about it for months carefully, honestly, without pressure. Tonight i was meeting another man, one i had been chatting with online, but only for a drink. Nothing was expected. If the evening felt wrong, I would simply go home.

But my husband had given me something that made the butterflies in my stomach even stronger: his permission to explore the attraction I had been trying not to acknowledge.

My husband dropped me off at a pre arranged location, he was waiting to meet and he gently kissed me on arrival, held my hand we walked in the bar together it was warm and softly lit but busy.

Conversation came easily. We talked about work, travel, music and all the ordinary things two people might discuss on a first meeting. Yet beneath it was something neither of us could quite ignore.

Every lingering glance seemed to last a second longer, but the area we were in wasn’t private and noisy. He suggested we drive to his house and be more relaxed and comfortable, we hadn’t agreed to this but it felt right. We left the bar git in his car and his hand fell straight to the top of my thigh.

For a moment, i forgot what i had meant to say so said nothing it felt right.

We arrived at his house and he took me into his warmly lit living room, snug and cosy and poured me a glass of wine to ease my nerves, we got intimate kissing, caressing and losing our senses, he asked me to go upstairs to his bedroom he followed then told me to strip without hesitation or thought I did whilst he watched, there I was totally naked less my heels, he then stripped naked himself.

Seeing him standing there naked made the reality of the evening settle over me. The physical difference between him and my husband was immediately apparent, and it caught me off guard not because I had been comparing them, but because comparison suddenly seemed unavoidable and the excitement of how it would feel took over my thought process but I was still very nervous.

I looked away, embarrassed by the thought.

“This is strange,” I admitted softly to him.

“What is?” He said

“Realising that I’m here. With you. After talking about this for so long.”

His expression softened.

“You don’t have to do anything you’re not comfortable with.”

I appreciated that more than i could explain.

The strange thing was that my nervousness wasn’t really about him. It was about what this moment said about me. I loved my husband. That hadn’t changed. Yet i was also discovering that desire could exist alongside love without necessarily diminishing it.

And somewhere in the back of my mind was the knowledge that my husband was waiting for me not suspiciously, not reluctantly, but because we had trusted each other enough to try something neither of us could completely predict.

That thought made me feel both vulnerable and strangely safe.

I looked at the man in front of me again.

“I want to be here,” i said.

This time, there was no hesitation in my voice.
