What has a hazel nut in every bite?
Oops sorry off Topic lol
My pleasure...
I have a sort of rule. I say sort of 'cos I break it when ever I feel like it.
If a site, when opeining a single page, asks more than twice to put a cookie on my computer it is permanently blocked from putting cookies on the computer. Some site can request 10-15 cookies  What the fuck for?
You can also unblock previously blocked sites by clicking SITES in PRIVACY.
The Sarge is a GEEK
Instant Messenger blocking everything... Naughty Naughty.

IIf you're really paranoid you can delete Cookies as well, not recommended, (Internet Options>Delete Cookies)

John,
Can I ask why it's not recommended because we do it on a regular basis? I thought it was safe to do so.
They say you learn something new everyday, well they should pop in to The Cafe because they will learn loads of new things everyday lol
Thanks
Shireen

If you automatically log on to forums, web sites etc. and have various options set in various website that you visit, this information is held in cookies.
Cookies are an excellent idea and, when used as intended, very useful, unfortunately the unscrupulous have also hijacked them for nefarious purposes. mad
My cookie settings are:Override automatic cookie handlingPrompt for first party cookiesAlways block third party cookiesAlways allow session cookies That way I control who puts cookies on my machine. Can be a bit of a pain though...
Sarge,
I'll give the PRO version of Zone Alarm a thorough inspection in the morning and see if there are any "gotchas" to trip up unwary tank drivers...
Sarge,
Close Internet Explorer. Remove *all* the programs from Zone Alarm Programs list. Open a new Internet Explorer window and try and access the chat room. Zone Alarm should display a dialog allowing you in.
If it doesn't, "you've buggered about wit sumat you shouldn't have"...
What program are you using to access the Chat Room? Is it the built in Java or one you downloaded. Some mIRC programs also require Port 7000 open.
Most computer shops (except PC World) are way too busy to ferret through your computer. Unless, of course, you are a celebrity. Then they will look at absolutely everything.
If they need to use the Internet and see something interesting in your History and have time on their hands they may have a look.
If you're paranoid: Copy your Favorites folder (from Documents & Settings) to a floppy then remove your FavoritesDelete everything in your History (Internet Options>Clear History)Delete your Temporary Internet Files (Internet Options>Delete FilesIf you're really paranoid you can delete Cookies as well, not recommended, (Internet Options>Delete Cookies)Finally run a disk clean up:My ComputerRight Click on Local Disk C:Click on PropertiesClick on Disk Clean upClick OK Oh, and follow Cool4catz advice and log out of any forums/web sites that you automatically log into, remembering to make a note of usernames and passwords...

Most of the houses along Warwick road (next to the Football ground) are completely uninhabitable at present with the furniture littering the pavement.

Which is a terrible thing, but I thought this thread was about goldfish?
You mean I can't hijack my own thread. TE will be upset lol

Well what I meant was, surely the poor kid would have been horrified at the thought of losing her precious pet for good.. only toi feel enormous joy at it being found by the football club, for them to then put undue pressure (probably big burly scary blokes) on her to 'agree' to let them keep it. lol

Probably a big scarey Mummy and Daddy saying we don't have room for it in the bedsit we're living in while our house is being dried out and repaired.

She was offered the flucking things back but donated them to the club as mascots (probably because her house is uninhabitable and will be for quite some time).

That's horrific!!!! Stealing a goldfish off a 4 year old!! rolleyes
confused:
Just a thought...
Are there any heavy industrial units near (with about 500 yards) of you? This includes places where welding takes place.
Flucking Goldfish have stolen the headlines
I was sceptical about "Spirits" to say the least until we had a go with a ouija board. Now I won't go near one.
There are things we don't understand and whether we call them spirits or something else is irrelevent. Someone in the distant future will be able to quantify this energy, until then "Here be Dragons".
If PiercedJon's instructions don't do the trick you can open a Port for your IRC.
No this doesn't mean donning a Sailor Suit and buggering off down to Portsmouth lol
In Zone Alarm PRO Click on Firewall (on the left)Click on Main at the TopIn the Internet Zone Security box click on the Custom buttonIn the Internet Zone tab click on Allow Incoming TCP Ports (I assume mIRC uses TCP... if not click on UDP)In the text box at the bottom enter 6660-6669Click on ApplyClick on OKLight blue touch paper and retire... That will open the ports usually used by Chat programs.

Anyone know what Port the MiRC client for the Chat Room uses? I don't have it installed on this computer...
Sarge,
I'll probably get lynched for this but here goes...
You need to identify which program you are using to access the Chat Room so try the following:
Open Zone AlarmOn the left Click on "Program ControlOn the Tabs at the top click on ProgramsGo down the list one by one looking for any that have a Red CrossDouble click on the Red Cross and change it to "? Ask"Log into SH and try and get into the chat roomA Zone Alarm alert should be displayed asking whether you want to allow this program to access the internetPut a Tick in the box to Remember the setting and click YesIf that doesn't do it, I'll be back at my desk after am tomorrow (Tuesday).
We would need to know how you have your Router and Wireless card before we can help.
Don't post your settings in the forum, but PM me and I'll give you my email address to send them to.
Right, with PiercedJon's help we've got TE back on. :bounce:
It seems to be the "Invisible" NTL Proxy Server settings which were cocking things up. Using the Proxy Server Settings supplied by PiercedJon, TE is now back up and running.
You should see a post from him shortly...
Many thanks to everyone for your help and suggestions, I think we tried virtually all of them at one point or another.

Why is the test only for men, us bisexual women enjoy looking at women's breasts just as much as men do...

It's called teasing...
