On this estate of what WibblyWobbly rightly describes as 'Linda Snells' (relatively wealthy middle class professionals with not enough to worry about) I could point out easily half a dozen examples of the above. I totally disagree with your contention that these are not people who would complain about fireworks, since I've seen the evidence them doing so in person. In fact, many of those who are most vocal regard their dogs as precious and fragile because they see them for only a couple of hours a day - and they wonder why they're highly strung ???
Trying to organise a firework display with:
- full support of the fire brigade
- insurance (over £5k for one smallish event)
- medical back up
- sponsorship
- a year's notice
is a total bloody nightmare thanks to the "think of the *insert cause of choice*" protestations, yet it's impossible to program kids (and some alleged adults wave ) not to like fireworks.
I cannot see any argument for allowing unrestricted public access to fireworks, but neither can I see any argument whatsoever for a total prohibition.

JonJon, ahhhhh, now I understand. Two agendas. And you're beginning to sound like Linda Snell lol
I can't be arsed, to be honest.

...... the temerity of dog owners moaning about their animals being scared infuriates me. Every street, it seems, has a dog that yaps and howls day and night, as it's left in an undersized and understimulating environment. These same dogs cause fear and, occasionally, injury to postmen and other household callers, yet we seldom hear calls for domestic animals to be banned* confused

JonJon the dog owners that have the "temerity" to complain about fireworks are the kind of responsible owners that wouldn't keep a dog this way. The behaviour you describe is a result of human neglect, not a dog's natural disposition, so please don't take it out on the dog.
The world is, unfortunately, full of people that mistreat dogs. It's a failing of the human species, rather than the canine. I suggest there's a strong correlation between owners that treat their dogs this way and the kind of people that demonstrate disregard for those they share living space with by setting off fireworks daily for a month either side of Nov 5th.
If you do know of a dog that's being treated this way, do it a favour and grass the feckers up to the RPSCA......

......and for making me realise that Manchester is NOT where you live and next time I will read instructions. We got back fine having dodged all the doggers but I reckon we must have put nearly and hour on getting there by heading towards Liverpool not Leeds lol.

Tee hee I was joking with Ian in the chatroom last night, we were having a sweepstake on how many extra miles you'd cover in unwanted detours. Damnit those blue motorway signs that indicate junctions and things are a little on the small side, aren't they ??? rotflmao

No not another poll.

Yup, not another poll.... I couldn't be arsed voting either...
I found the results interesting, though lol
I was sent this link earlier today,
The full survey results are available on the Durex website
Interestingly the most promiscuous race are the chinese with a average of almost 20 different partners, while us brits lag behind with 10.3. The poor vietnamese manage just 2.5. And how is it the dutch are so far down the list at 6.2 ???
I reckon if all the SH community voted on this one we could skew the results. Most of the people I know here have far surpassed their lifetime allowance in the last few months / weeks / days even (mentioning no names) :giggle:
The frequency of sex is quite interesting too - the french top the list at 137 times per year, or 2.6 times per week. Us brits do quite well at 2.3 times a week, while the poor japanese only manage once every 8 days. Looks like I blew my allowance last weekend then hump :hump: :hump: :hump:

Hey Lucifer, if you like Lenny Bruce you must like Bill Hicks too? Have you heard of him?

Definitely a loss to the world when he died so young.....
On that note maybe we should add John Belushi too
Billy Connelly (as Vix says, before he was teetotal)
Robin Williams (before he cleaned up his act)
Richard Prior (before he cleaned up his act)
Lenny Bruce
Peter Cook and Dudley Moore

Neil all you need is a Stella or five before going in m8 that's all I need
Like JGLebbon I've been known to spend a little time in the chatroom lol
Yup, there's times when it's so busy that I can't keep up with what's being said, and I'm pretty used to it.
If you're a newbie to the room, I'd suggest you don't try it during peak times - I've seen 120+ people at times and when it's like that it's impossible to keep up. Give it a try outside of evening hours, when it's at its busiest. It's alot easier to follow (and make a contribution) when there's (say) 40 people in...
Above all, give it a miss in that hour after pub chucking-out time unless you want to be really confused loon
Later this evening the gorgeous lovely generous sexy Corrie will be arriving for the weekend. Beyond spending some of the time nekkid and horizontal, we have no plans wink

is there much chance of meeting the girl of my dreams on here then?

It does happen, Soulmate, like it has to Angel_Chat, and I can think of many other couples who've met through this site. Like Heather and Outdoorfun, WBB and Tongue, Will and Sappho, Alex_Female and Dave_Notts, me and Corriefem.

Hook, line and sinker babes... passionkiss
Tee hee WBB, I'm sure you found a new use for his handcuffs lol
I've had two blokes spend all morning on my bed
Two big burly types, in their mid 30s I'd guess.
Errr, no, I'm not turning bi! They were two coppers, looking to nab some scally who they believed would turn up in my street, and they sat on my bed watching through the net curtains, with radios and earpieces etc.
Sadly their target never turned up. I was looking forward to watching an episode of the Bill re-enacted outside my front door. sad
Hmmmmmmmm
Seems to be becoming a national obsession.....
I spent a few hours yesterday evening with some friends in the pub. Dogging and swinging were brought up no less than 3 times.
I'm beginning to wonder whether they're all lurkers on here lol
Not really some news I wanted to hear sad
A speedy recovery to you both. Neither of you two deserve this, a couple of the most genuine people I've met here....
Get well soon, and I hope to see you both again before long......
