OK .. legal issues aside.
I can`t see anything wrong with a five month old baby being anywhere at all with it`s parents. As long as, at least one of them is not drinking.
My daughter was born in France and I found the complete acceptance of babies and children in French society to be very refreshing.
I was shocked when I returned to England and found that people were so judgemental about the way other people looked after their children.
As far as I`m concerned babies sleep most of the time anyway and if they go out and about in all situations with their parents, they will grow up knowing how to behave in public places.

damn right and straight to the point
am still due to hear why this child irritated annejohn

I never took my daughter into a pub after 6pm until she was in her teens, we only ever went in for lunches. For night 'do's' I preferred to get a babysitter for her anyway because I didn't like to drink if I had her in my care and could never relax if people were getting drunk around her. The times she was at a 'do' I took her home by 9pm or if it was a family wedding I would gauge the company and play it by ear but that was few and far between.
I totally disagree with young children being in a pub until but it's not for me to comment on other peoples parenting skills.
Also, if it isn't a private function, isn't it illegal to have children in a bar area at that time?

putting the legal issues aside the author asked;
-was she wrong reacting the way she did?
-and if it were you, what could have you done?

i do agree is too ungodly hour to have a child in a bar,
-but what could the child be doing to upset you?
-was it crying to much
because at 5months i dont expect the child to be running about all over the place.
am not aware about your views on the war, soldiers or pratriotism, but there must be a reason for this couple to take there child with them to the pub at that time of the night afteral they ask the landlady if it was ok..
what would i have done-bought that soldier a pint
i hope thats a non smoking bar.

What does smoking have to do with it? dunno
nothing that was tongue in cheek wink
answer the question i know the defination now loon ...do you think alot of tongue in cheek are misunderstood ..? :notes:

just had a load of hassle in my local, cos i let it be known that i was not happy about kids in my local at am.i know this is illegal, but we have all been to family do`s where kids are given some leeway, but when a 5 month old baby was plonked down in front of the bar, i had to let it be known that i was`nt at all happy.
apparently the landlady had been asked was it ok for this, and she agreed. i got accused of being anti patriotic, cos the father has just returned from afghanistan(anyone who has read any of my posts will know what my thoughts on that are )and anti kids.????
we were`nt in a private room in a club, but in a public bar in a pub. i probably wont be welcome there again.
am i wrong? what would you have done?

Very proud to be British. Our history is chequered with good and bad. But, I think we have contributed more to the world in the last 500 years than any other nation in science, agriculture, industrialisation and parliamentary democracy.

I was up at 5 in the stupid hope of getting rid of some junk at a car boot sale, needless to say I didn't bother! I'm now trying to make a last minute fancy dress costume as I didn't read the invite to the party I'm off to tonight properly. Normally I don't mind the rain but I'm praying it holds off next week-end.
H.x

whats the theme of the fancy dress i wonder!
its still raining here in the border of south wales, its still dark at midday enjoying a cup of tea and have suspended my hair...but apperently its the longest day of the year should they extend the shopping time

its intense the hopes are high at both camps, the rusian coach who is a dutch national is worried he might not step back in netherlands if russian go through to the next level...mmm its exciting the last two qualifying matches has shown how thirsty the last eight are after the cup, so the question is how could have England managed on this tornament
..oh have you heard the switzerland railway workers had to change the orange safety jackets to yellow because the dutch fans keep following them to the railway trucks

Kangaroo Courts are dangerous. I used to work in the court system and for legal reasons I cannot go into detail but believe me, they are dangerous and I'm talking death here. I realise that's a bit extreme when you're trying to be light hearted Phuckers, well I think you are confused but really things like that should be left to the professionals, or in this case, the Mods.
Maybe the old "think twice" before posting thread would work better, I know I adopt that, very much so I muse ideas in my head before posting, quite often resulting in not posting at all if I think it could cause bother or upset.
Maturity works better than anything else and the ability to 'agree to disagree'.
Oh and have fun, like Winey says, the fun factor is far more important.

my lightheard is extreme? dunno
huh??? blink no, I meant me being brutal about what I know on Kangaroo Courts is extreme when your thread was light hearted....
this thread, the word "smile"just does it for me,i like positivity, you surely brought back some good vibes...
