Awsome siite update. Loads of new features to make it alot easier biggrin
Keep up the good work! Cheers :D

And as a user who joined the site today, your point of reference is?
Hate It
But then again - Most of what I don't like about this has been mentioned time and time again in this thread.
Postcodes! I do not work for the postoffice - I do not carry a handy pockets sized guide to postcodes I don't know my so19 from my Ex12 so it really has absolutely no use whatsoever. In fact the only person I can think of who could use this function is Postie - and possibly only if he brings his work home with him!
The colours? I is blinded - nothing wrong with the old colours - they were bold and easy to read. The new ones are painfully pastel!
Having an 0870 helpline number for those who can't log in. Whatever is wrong with having an email account you can email to - or just a section on here for help. Of course it isn't money generating the way the helpline number is - but it'd work.
Apart from that - there is nothing else that particularly excites or displeases me!

Has anyone got a wooly hat? It's fffffffffffffrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreezing! :giggle: :giggle: :giggle: :giggle:
Seriously though - It had to be done. I mean at the end of the day it's only hair, and it's not often you get the chance to make someone feel better by doing something so simple!
Now - who's got that wooly hat?

I have a real thing about blokes with shaven heads, a really close cropped rather than bald look, especially when teamed with a goatee beard :smitten: but that doesn't exlude men with longer hair by any means.
Really long hair on men though, hmmm depends on the man. I can think of one or two longer haired men here that I wouldn't say no to ;)

Funny really - I'm sporting that look at this very moment - And I gotta say - It's bloody freezing! LMAO
Are goosebumps on the head considered sexy?

I would also like to thank the mods and ops for the work they do, and continue to do.
I may have had my dis-agreements with some or all of you over the past few days - but it doesn't detract from what you do!
Just as long as you continue to fight for what we fight for, and Fairly moderate the board, then i can have no argument with you! My gripe over the past few days has had nothing whatsoever to do with you guys, and i promise to retire back to the shadows with the rest of the non contributors.
Please don't make me come out again - i don't enjoy it anymore then you do!

Good afternoon everyone
I'm possibly not one of the more popular people with some of you right now - I'm afraid there are one or two things I do get passionate about, and be it good or bad - I chose to vent! I think my views of certain businesses are fairly well known by now - But thats already been said, and is now in the past - I don't think there is anything to be gained from bringing it up again
However I'm not an unreasonable man, and I certainly don't want to see this site Implode - I'll give just about anyone the benefit of the doubt. And so I'll be one of the suck it and see brigade. I do hope that the new owners visions and plans for the site, along with their promises to us, are fulfilled, and not hollow words as we have all seen elsewhere.
I'll give you six months - to see how it goes - But at the first sight of having to pay for anything, or insidious advertising, or bogus ads, and links to totally non related content - I ( and I fear a larger majority of the community) will be soooooooo out of here! We are not all idiots, or sheep, blindly accepting everything we are told.
Show me what you are going to do - Make me think " wow I'm glad these people came along"
Lets consider this me handing out the cyber olive branch for the time being

top post there fella!
Mod edit to remove offensive posting - and no, it's not a new owner doing this. Site AUP remains the same. Being abusive or unfriendly will still not be tolerated. Make your point without being offensive.
I Know this probably doesn't help you in this particular instance - But it is definitely worth bearing in mind for future occasions! I believe all networks now have this in place - Certainly the case for Vodafone - I quote from their website!
Have you ever bought a ringtone and not realised you were being subscribed to an ongoing service? Well, all of these services are now obliged to support the STOP command so you can easily unsubscribe and get the service stopped.
How does it work?
To stop unwanted premium texts, simply follow the directions below:
* Send a reply to the text service with the word STOP at the start of your message.
Or
* Send a reply to the text service saying STOP ALL to ensure that everything on the service has been stopped.
If the service continues please call our Customer Services department to inform them.
It might also be worth calling your networks customer care department and having a chat with them to discuss how you can minimise or stop future occurences of this. I'm afraid you are likely going to get stung for this particular bill - but anything that will stop it in the future has got to be a help! Hopefully also this should teach the kids a lesson.
Most phones these days are capable of playing MP3s as ringtones - so should they be that desperate for the latest "trendy" ringtones - you could always get hold of an mp3 recording of it and upload it to the fone. Once again - proof that kids have got no sense, and are mercilessly preyed on by companies such as jamster. In this day and age - who else could get away with charging £1 - £2 for the electronic equivalent of someone farting or just generally being a twat! I guess it's easy money!
Hope this helps

You could alternatively do what I do - Record a Voicemail message - something along the lines of Hi - I am either busy, or you are calling from a withheld number, either leave me a message, or call back from a non withheld number, and i will get back to you.
You notice I never mention my name in the message - seems to work for me - either they hang up, leave a message, or call back and don't withold - either way - I've achieved my aim.
Of course I'm lucky in as much as i can find out the number calling - be it withheld or not. One of the benefits of the job i do I suppose!
Anyway - that's what I do!

I know we are on the site to have fun but I feel it would be really good to stop and remember becuase without those people who fought and died for our freedom, none of us would be able to enjoy the lifestyle we do.
I for one am very thankful to them all.

Yes, it is right, and proper that we remember all of our service men,and women who have paid the ultimate price for our freedom. It is also worth acknowledging those who were wounded, and disabled, that successive governments have traditionally failed to give anything like adequate post injury support has happened frequently in all past conflicts, and will continue to occur in the future.
More power to people like Simon weston who continue to work for a better deal for the injured who have served our includes Traumatic illness which though invisible is very much a disabling condition.
I am sure there are SH people that have seen the after affects of friends,or family that have been more, or less abandoned to civilian life with out adequate ongoing support.
Although organizations such as SAAFA do good work in this field it is still not enough.

A few of you will know just how close to my heart this is. I've read back through all of these posts, took some time out and watched a few films, and just thought. And it was something from one of those films that struck home with me.
Forgive me if i quote the words of An American
"
I've always been amazed that the very people...
... forced to live in the worst parts of town...
... go to the worst schools and who have it the hardest...
... are always the first to step up to defend that very system.
They serve so that we don't have to.
They offer to give up their lives so that we can be free.
It is remarkable, their gift to us.
And all they ask for in return...
...is that we never send them into harm's way...
... unless it's absolutely necessary.
Will they ever trust us again?"

We remember....
My dad fought in WW2 and so this is very important to me, as a mark of respect to him and his comrades.
My 7 year old daughter will be in her first parade as a Brownie, with respect to the grandad she never met.

Not being funny - but isn't the reason Remeberance Day is 11/11 is beacause its about WW1 and that was the date it eneded 11am on the 11 of the 11th 1918.......or has the rememberance changed to include all wars?
As i say, not being controversial just wanted to know..
2005 marks the 60th anniversary of the end of World War II and is the last major chance to thank all those ordinary men and women who went on to do extraordinary things 60 years ago. Not just those on the front lines, but all the millions of people who worked hard at home and abroad for the war effort and to remember all those who played a part in the hard-won victory.
But the Poppy Appeal is not just about remembering the sacrifices of World War II or the millions who suffered as a result of World War I. It is also a timely reminder of today's heroes, all those who serve in conflicts and peace-keeping missions across the globe and who may need The Royal British Legion in the future
please do not forget those who gave so much for our freedom; The nation's Two Minute Silence, 11th November at and Remembrance Sunday, 13th November.
OK - This is looking more and more likely. can you take me off provisional status - BUT on the condition that shelly from notts is invited - just so i can relive my one abiding memory of you - How does it go again?
Oh Yes!

I find a mixture of both - to be honest
Here, I think you sometimes see peoples more articulate side. You have the luxury to be able to sit and take time to think about what you are going to write. You do also see a lot funny stuff - peoples humour is very developed here
In the chat room - you have to think on your feet a lot more - the room sometimes goes a million miles an hour, and it's hard to keep up. You do, however see a more spontaneous and quick witted side to a person.
ads - to be honest - i find i read them more for enjoyment, and amusement these days. There are some shocking attitudes out there, some real no brainer ads, and some that are just incredibly well written and original. I'm afraid i've developed a pretty finely tuned BS indicator about ads these days - i tend to think if a thing looks or sounds to good to be true - then nine times out of ten it probably is too good to be true
I'm more of a chatroom person myself - being as that is where i come from, and where i started my days swinging. I no longer rely on my ad anymore, in fact i couldn't even tell you the number anymore! You tend to get past the whole thing about willy/ boobs/ appearance and therefore i think it becomes slightly less of an issue.
Anyway - you my thoughts - and what do i know eh?
I'm surprised there hasn't been a post for this already - so here goes
Happy Birthday Essexlady
Hope you have a great one - and if all goes well - hope to see you this evening
