I'm going to reply two-fold in this...
First the "its been done to death" or "there are loads of other threads on this" etc etc...
Is there not an option for the forum moderators to "Merge" threads, therefore if a moderator immediately spots that this is a common subject, they simply move the new thread into the last thread on the topic?? (Sorry Mal, not having a go I promise, just curious as to why this function isn't used?)
And the shaving question... I (Mrs B) suffer from occasional bouts of Alopecia Universalis, this means basically I lose my hair from EVERY part of my body.. legs, pussy, armpits, head, eyelashes and eyebrows...
When I'm in a "rotation(?)" of actually having hair I find I cannot stand it anywhere near my privates... it makes me feel unclean, sticky and uncomfortable, so I shave or use delapitory creams and go totally naked... actually it takes me a while to get used to hair on my head too... I had my first haircut in about 6 years last week, I was terrified!! :scared:
Mr B is au natrel, although he has very little hair and none on his head so maybe not a good model! But I've never found it an issue to be honest... its whatever makes each of us comfortable...
Having paid chat operators on a site turns it into something VERY different...
The hassle and abuse a volunteer chat op has to put up with literally doubles overnight the moment they get any kind of renumeration for their time... I've been there and believe me it is not pleasant... suddenly the person you would normally be able to chat and explain, maybe move, occasionally need to suspend/ban etc etc becomes ultra-aggressive in their behaviour towards you, their theory "I pay for you to be here therefore without me you're nothing" becomes all too much of a barrier to reasoning, your "employees" suddenly receive ten times the number of complaints over the simplest of requests for someone to calm down, virulent e-mails where before it MAY have been a one-liner saying "its not fair!" becoming nasty and vindictive...
Seriously, if someone is going to be a trouble-maker if they are dealt with by a volunteer they tend to accept this a lot more readily than by someone they ultimately perceive to be in their own employ... its a lot easier as chat-op too if you're a volunteer, we used to have a system whereby we would ensure there was 24/7 cover, but as a family site it was needed, here you're not going to come across an 8 year old being sworn at or proposed to, we're all at least declaring ourselves to be over 18 and even with the worst of trouble makers there are ways as a simple chatter to keep out of their way...
Keep it as it is... the chat and forum ops on here do a fantastic job and do this simply because they enjoy being here, a winning combination...
Grannys nightdress!!!
strawberries or chocolate?
yup, I know for myself I've gotten into the habit of always having "notepad" open... so if I know I'm going to spend some time on a reply I'm really thinking about I put it in there first, then paste and copy when I'm ready... this also has the advantage that you can keep an eye on the topic in case someone else replies in the meantime... I've looked an idiot in the past when someones beat me to it simply because I've taken my time to type out a more considered reply...
Rather than get your email box filled up with replies you can use the "Recent Posts" button from the main forum index, click on this and it gives you the option of searching for posts since last visit, your posts unanswered posts and a list of members... I use this to quickly check the my posts part of it as it shows the topics and if theres been any reply since I was last on... here:
