Hi Mike. Had a feeling you'd still be around. Still got all yer badges?

Nope, had a clearout not long ago. Still got my pin badge somewhere - I think you had something to do with them.

It's nothing like it used to be in here.

Decided to cancel our subscription on this site, no longer fun, and not really couple friendly.
So we bid you farewell and happy swinging.
Live long and prosper x

ours runs out very soon and after 8 years here i doubt we're gonna renew ours either
They're still here. Last on site about 5 hours ago.
In the spirit of fairness, they said they were cancelling their subscription, not the account. ;)
But they said goodbye.

It's been nine years and a bit after posting this I decided to dig the time capsule up.
Hmmm, is there anyone still active on the forum who remembers half of these in-jokes that were such a staple of the forum back then? Or is it, as I guess is more likely.. those who've joined in recent years are scratching their heads and wondering what a bunch of odd-socks the forumites were 9 years ago/

Ah, I remember all the in-jokes.
I still drop in here but don't feel inspired to post much. For many of the others from the old days, things have changed. This site was thriving before facebook and twitter were invented. I'm aware that many people who made friends here now keep in touch with each other online via these and other mainstream media.

Hello all
I am about to reach Ten Years of being on here.
How should I celebrate this?
Regards
Harry Jones

My ten-year anniversary passed last month without my even noticing!
Well Harry, you could mark the occasion with another of your famous tours, but maybe that would be better left till the spring or summer. I'm sure I'd be one of many who would join you for a jar.

Lovely night mind…stars are shining up in the sky…I was just looking at one and it made me think of an old mucker of mine off ‘ere from Leeds.
Stars can do things like that.
Cheerio then
Arti

Arti!!! :inlove:
So lovely to see you again - and I'm not one bit surprised that the stars made you think of him - he always remembered you very fondly - as did many of us kiss
Ditto xx
Ditto here too. As always, Arti, you put things so eloquently. Cheerio for now, but make sure you pop back again.

..... you first met up in an impromptu, pub based type social situation with people you only 'knew' from swinging sites. Did you have the 'Hello, I'm Jackie' and then the almost nudge nudge wink wink thing and whispered 'I'm Qbu'? lol
My first ever was with the leg end that is Harry Jones in a Sheffield pub, as he was on one of his tours (I doubt he'll mind me mentioning it - apologies if so Harry), but his was easy peasy. a) His name is Harry and b) he was wearing the legendary flat cap  Others who were there were in the same situation as me and did the whispered site name thing. It was hilarious. I could name them but won't for obvious reasons :-)

I think I was there.

Beans on a fry up can cause all sorts of issues. Personally I dont mind as long as the beans dont touch the egg. People that pour beans over their fry up willy nilly without a care are heathens.

Beans should never touch the egg... ever!! :scared:

I think my favourite one is the Lowry one from one of the Manchester munches - "Munchstick men and munchstick cats and dogs". Genius!

No one posted anything about current affairs

Nor did anyone post anything about whether there should have been an apostrophe somewhere in the title. dunno

Your group... gosh, that's a blast for the way back when. I think it was called 'Silkies' or something like that.

Blue, there's this thread from another of your parties, with a few pics left to see if you plough through the pages.

I have just done that and can see only one very grainy pic the rest say they been deleted.
Carol
Yes, most pics have been deleted by photobucket. A few pics showed up on the wayback machine, so I'll post the link to the thread as it is there. There are a few pics on pages 2,3,8,9,and 16.

does anyone rembember sexyjess......smile she was a few years younger than me,.....

I remember sexyjess well, Mike, in fact I can remember adopting her under Bilko's "Adopt A Southerner" scheme. Anyone remember that brilliant idea? If not:

It's going on 8 years since this thread was last posted on ... but there could be a few returnees looking for an old avatar... or just a trip down memory lane... biggrin

Not looking for my own avatar, but went down to the SH cellar for a rummage around, and found a real treasure.
What a terrible shock! I'm so sorry to hear this news. Love and condolences to you Gem.
There are very very few members whose posts I have admired as much as Neil's. In all the memorable hilarious episodes on these forums he was a key figure. There are so many great posts of his I remember and admire - even one I've never forgotten which he deleted the next day! To my regret I never got a proper chat out of him at munches, though I tried. But his genuine warmth in here, directed at individuals, even to me, was something to treasure.
May his memory be honoured.
RIP Neil.
Even if you do manage to persuade some gullible guy to take part in this chat-up scenario idea, it is fraught with dangers. If things go wrong the guy could even end up on an assault charge, then the whole story could become public.
The main thing is that you chat with your wife honestly, and accept her answer as what she really feels, not try to interpret things through your own wishful thinking.
